2 Player method

Player 1 or 2 should take about 5 of the Yellow Pikmin and distract the Gatling Groink on the pail, while the other player sneaks up the shovel that leans on the pail with the Purple Pikmin. Then the player with the Purple Pikmin should throw all of his/her Pikmin this will stun or defeat the Groink while saving time. After the Groink is defeated carry it back to the research pod as it will recover. Then collect as much treasure as possible within the time limit.
