The Massage Girdle (マッサージはらまき?, lit.: "Massage Haramaki") is a treasure in Pikmin 2. It is actually a wide nut. Getting it requires the player to complete a puzzle involving scales which are found near the Submerged Castle in the Perplexing Pool; in Pikmin this is where the #2 Ionium Jet is located.
Collecting the treasure
The following article or section contains guides. |
Defeat the Yellow Wollywogs in the area and tear down the black gate near the Glutton's Kitchen. There will be some Skitter Leaves and two Hermit Crawmads. Defeat them, then take out the Withering Blowhog and the Water Dumples near the area and get the nectar near the hole if needed. Toss 20 Blues onto the rock ledge and use the other 20 to throw onto the platforms. Lead one leader to the first seesaw block and keep on letting him get to the top of the ledge where the other Pikmin are; an explanation for this is below. When transporting the treasure, make sure to defeat the Swooping Snitchbugs and Shearwigs that will be a nuisance on land.
The set of four seesaw blocks is more complicatedly linked than other seesaw blocks in the game. Alternate blocks along the line are connected, one up, one down, like the pairs of blocks. Another twist is that each block along the line is a little higher than the last, the furthest from the ledge being the lowest. This means that a leader can only walk onto that end block. The following is a simple way to make the seesaw blocks work; they are numbered from 1 to 4, from the closest to the ledge to the furthest from it.
Get on block 1 and raise it. So, you should begin by leaving all of your Pikmin with one leader and getting to block 1 with the other. The only block low enough for a leader to walk onto from the floor is block 4, as it is the lowest at its low position. So, you needs to lower the block by throwing 1 Pikmin on it: its pair, block 2, will be the one to rise. Moving on to block 4, you need to raise it to be able to walk onto block 3, which is done by throwing 2 Pikmin onto its pair, block 2 (to weigh more than the one on block 4 already).
To get onto block 2, raise block 3 by throwing one Pikmin onto its pair, block 1. Finally, to get onto the final block, block 1, you must raise block 2, by whistling the 2 Pikmin on it, thereby leaving the 1 on block 4 to outweigh the 0 on block 2 and so cause it to rise.
Summary:
- Put 1 Pikmin on block 4 and walk onto it.
- Throw 2 Pikmin onto block 2 and walk onto block 3.
- Throw 1 Pikmin onto block 1 and walk onto block 2.
- Remove the Pikmin on block 2 and walk onto block 1.
Now that there is a leader on the ledge, you can throw enough Pikmin to carry the treasure up to him, on the left of the highest block.
Although you are intended to use the scales, it is also possible to bypass them completely by long-throwing Pikmin with a running start from a small strip of raised land which runs along the wall to the left of the treasure. This method is less time consuming and is arguably easier, but it requires good timing to ensure that the Pikmin don't miss their mark and hit the wall. In New Play Control! Pikmin 2, this is easier due to the naturally increased throw range.
Another way to reach the treasure is by having a large group of Pikmin, throwing some of them at the ledge to the west of the treasure, and then moving the group through the ledge onto the platform with the treasure. This only works with a big group because of the increased group movement reach with a high number.[1]
