The Proton AA (プロトンX?, lit.: "Proton X") is a treasure in Pikmin 2. It is an AA battery, and is a generic brand of battery in the Nintendo Switch version, a Duracell battery in the North American and European GameCube and Wii versions, and a National Hi-Top battery in the Japanese GameCube and Wii versions. It is found in sublevel 4 of the Submerged Castle. Olimar takes note on how it looks very much like the Courage Reactor, the first treasure found in the game.

The text on the treasure in the North American and European GameCube and Wii versions reads:

Inserire correttamente. Non ricaricare.
Respecter les polarités + et -. Ne pas
recharger. Auf richtige Polarität achten.
Nicht wiederaufladbar. Connect correctly.
Do not recharge. MADE IN EC
DURACELL©
AA
ALKALINE 1,5V
MN0000 LR6
MAR 2010

The first paragraph contains instructions that warn the user to respect the polarity, and that the battery is not rechargeable. They are presented in Italian, French, German, and English, in that order.

Collecting the treasure[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

This treasure is found on the fourth sublevel of the Submerged Castle, which contains poison emitters, bomb rocks, Volatile Dweevils, and Careening Dirigibugs. Remember to be careful, but also fast, as the Waterwraith will appear after 5 minutes.

Notes

Olimar's journal

This object resembles the first treasure I found on this planet, so it holds certain sentimental value to me. However, I've just noticed that the size it slightly different. Sometime, I should take the time to read my previous treasure log book. It's good to reflect on the past sometimes...

Some enigmatic energy unknown on Hocotate is trapped inside: who couldn't use more energy?
