The Cupid's Grenade (ヤブレカブレ?, lit.: "Desperation") is a treasure in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, and a fruit in Pikmin 3. It is actually a cherry.
In Pikmin 2, it is found in the Snagret Hole, and is worth 20 Pokos. It and the Science Project are tied for the third least-valuable treasures in the game.
In Pikmin 3, it is found twice in the Distant Tundra and once in the Tropical Wilds, and contributes half a bottle of juice to the player's supply (a quarter in Ultra-Spicy difficulty). This fruit also has a special role in 2-Player Battle and Bingo Battle, as collecting one in those modes gives the player a power-up.
In Pikmin 4 it can be found in groups of three at a time. One group is in the Blossoming Arcadia, the other in the Cavern for a King.
Collecting the treasure in Pikmin 2[edit]
The following article or section contains guides. |
The Cupid's Grenade in Pikmin 2 is found on sublevel 4 of the Snagret Hole, and is located in one of the many alcoves of the sublevel, near multiple Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae and other hazards, which should be cleared before collecting the treasure to ensure safety.
Collecting the fruit[edit]
The following article or section contains guides. |
Tropical Wilds[edit]
The Cupid's Grenade in the Tropical Wilds is on a small island in a lake just north of the landing site. Throw a Blue Pikmin or charge a Winged Pikmin at the fruit to pick it up and carry it to the S.S. Drake.
Distant Tundra[edit]
Landing site[edit]
The Distant Tundra has 2 of this kind of fruit. One is located on top of a snowman near the landing site, slightly buried in the ground. While it may seem like it requires Yellow Pikmin to obtain due to its height, any Pikmin can reach the fruit. It is the closest fruit to the landing site in the game.
Northwest[edit]
The other Cupid's Grenade in the Distant Tundra is next to an iron ball embedded within a snowdrift at the top of a hill, in the northwest of the main segment of the area. This fruit is directly on the main route through the story in the area, so it is very easy to collect.
Collecting the treasure in Pikmin 4[edit]
The following article or section contains guides. |
Blossoming Arcadia[edit]
There are three Cupid's Grenades near a Waddlequaff in the southwestern section of the overworld. The Cupid's Grenades are swallowed by the Waddlequaff almost immediately, so they will probably be inside of it. To get to the Waddlequaff in question, you will need to build a bridge from the westernmost part of the area. Then, either defeat the Waddlequaff and throw 1 Pikmin at each treasure, or throw 1 Pikmin when the Waddlequaff spits each one out, and distract it while the treasure is being carried off.
Cavern for a King[edit]
There are three Cupid's Grenades lying in a pond along the western edge of sublevel 19 of the Cavern for a King, next to a Zest Bomb and a Blonde Impostor. To collect them, you must throw 1 Blue Pikmin or Winged Pikmin at each treasure.
In 2-Player Battle and Bingo Battle[edit]
The Cupid's Grenade appears in 2-Player Battle and Bingo Battle, and plays a special role in each of these modes. During a match, Cupid's Grenades will spawn in various locations in the stage every once in a while, increasing in frequency as the match continues. They can be carried back to a team's Onion, and upon doing so, the player will obtain a random power-up. A roulette wheel will spin in the HUD and when it finishes spinning, the player who collected the cherry can press a button to use the power-up. By collecting multiple cherries, each player can have additional powerups stored, up to 5 at a time. A list of powerups is available at 2-Player Battle#Roulette wheel and Bingo Battle#Items.

Golden Grenades are fruits only found in Mission Mode, Bingo Battle, and the Side Stories in Pikmin 3. They are golden versions of the Cupid's Grenade, and are worth many more Pokos. They appear very rarely in Bingo Battle, where they reward 5 power-ups to the player upon collection. According to loading screen tips in Mission Mode, they are packed with Piktamin U.

Trivia[edit]
- Olimar's notes version in some versions of Pikmin 2 appear to be detailing the Burgeoning Spiderwort. However, this is not the case, as the Japanese and European versions of the notes more clearly describe the treasure. This mistake stems from the original Japanese text, where the cherry was described to be the produce of a tree that bears two different fruits. The separation between the tree and the fruit was mistranslated away in the North America release, causing the confusion.
- Olimar's notes on the Cupid's Grenade in Pikmin 4 are almost entirely unaltered from their incarnation in Pikmin 2, with a minor edit removing Olimar's comment on Louie baking the berries into a pie, making it closer to the Japanese version.
