"Compass" redirects here. For the mechanic that orients the player, see radar.

The Director of Destiny (運命ディレクター?, lit.: "Destiny Director") is a treasure in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4. It is actually a compass, and is found on the third sublevel of the Glutton's Kitchen in Pikmin 2 and on the first sublevel of the Last-Frost Cavern in Pikmin 4. In Pikmin 2, the glass covering it is shattered, and the needle is stuck in a single position. In Pikmin 4, it is instead a still-intact compass, with black coloring and proper labels. In Pikmin 2, the compass does not actually point to the North as shown by the radar; the model can be pivoted by enemies such as Anode Beetles, and this will change the indicated direction.

Collecting the treasure[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Pikmin 2[edit]

The Director of Destiny is found on Sublevel 3 of the Glutton's Kitchen, usually in an alcove. There are Breadbugs, Anode Beetles, a Puffy Blowhog, and many other electrical hazards and enemies on this sublevel that may pose a threat.

Location of the Director of Destiny in the Last-Frost Cavern.

It is on a ledge in a clay pot near the beginning of sublevel 1 of the Last-Frost Cavern in the Sun-Speckled Terrace. To collect this treasure, you must throw 7 Pikmin at it. It can also be knocked down with a rush from Oatchi.

Notes[edit]

Olimar's journal[edit]

With the help of my Pikmin, I've been able to widen the radius of my salvage search. The new areas that have opened up to exploration are far more dangerous. Just to be safe, I'd better review Pikmin traits and characteristics.

Press the X Button on the GameCube controller / the C Button on the Nunchuk to dismiss your Pikmin and separate them into color groups.

Press the A Button on the GameCube controller / the A Button on the Wii Remote to pick up and hold Pikmin.

While holding Pikmin, press the + Control Pad on the GameCube controller Left or Right / the B Button on the Wii Remote to switch the color of Pikmin you're holding.

Sales pitch[edit]

This amazing, fortune-telling device follows the flow of fate with eerie accuracy. It calculates the magnetic fields of planets, stars, and living organisms to track the pulse of destiny itself. If you're an optimist who feels that life points both south and north, this is for you!

Schnauz's notes[edit]

This astounding device indicates which direction fate is flowing. By reading the magnetic fields found on planets and in living organisms alike, it can read one's fortune. The science is too complex to explain, but whether you go north or south, do heed its guidance.

Olimar's notes[edit]

The arrow-like object floating in the center appears to move around at will, but it's actually always pointing in the same direction. It could be trying to point me toward my destiny, but I'd rather figure that out on my own.

Louie's notes[edit]

Could be useful for food storage. I just need to figure out how to open it.

Trivia[edit]

  • In Pikmin 4, the cardinal letters glow in the dark. This is best seen in Treasure Catalog by swapping to night.
