The Cosmic Archive (コズミック・アーカイブ?, lit.: "Cosmic Archive") is a treasure found in Pikmin 2. It is actually a Famicom Disk System disk of the game The Mysterious Murasame Castle. This treasure is found on sublevel 3 of the Hole of Beasts, and it is best to take out the fire geysers prior to retrieving it; alternately, Red Pikmin can be issued to carry it.
The writing on it is as follows:
ファミリーコンピュータ™ディスクシステム
SIDE A 謎の村雨城™
©1986 Nintendo MADE IN JAPAN
Which means "Family Computer Disk System", "The Mysterious Murasame Castle". The writing on the top is present for all Family Computer Disk System games.

- Translation: “The cave we explored today had holes here and there with flames spewing out of them, and the whole cave was hot. And when I think of flames, I think of Red Pikmin! ...Oh no! I completely forgot to teach Louie about that. He is so quiet that it's really hard to talk to him... This object we retrieved today seems to be a recording device, but it was impossible to analyze its contents. It is not possible to play with the contents of the disk.”
Sales pitch (Japanese)[edit]
- Text: “この世の始まりから終わりまで、すべての事象が記録されているという、伝説の記録庫!!大容量すぎて、解読は不可能!でも、だから広がるロマンもあるはず!”
- Translation: “A legendary archive of all events from the beginning to the end of this world!! It is so large that it is impossible to decipher! But that's why it is so romantic!”

Trivia[edit]
- Interestingly, this treasure is not the only connection between Pikmin and Mysterious Murasame Castle. In WarioWare: D.I.Y., a microgame based on Mysterious Murasame Castle is present in the Japanese version, but has been replaced with a Pikmin microgame in the localized versions.
- To a lesser degree, the Super Smash Bros. series combine elements from several universes, including Pikmin and Mysterious Murasame Castle. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, it is possible to, for instance, have Captain Olimar summon Takamaru as an Assist Trophy.
