The Citrus Lump (ツラノカワ) is a treasure in the game Pikmin 2. It is actually an tangerine, a citrus fruit. It is found on the first sublevel of the Emergence Cave, and can easily be brought to the ship's pod without a hassle. It reappears many times throughout Pikmin 3 as well.

In Pikmin 2

The Citrus Lump is one of the first treasures seen in the game. It is on the first sublevel of the Emergence cave, and can easily be brought to the ship's pod without any trouble, as it isn't usually located in the more forward portion of the cave where a group of four Snow Bulborbs are located.

In Pikmin 3

The Citrus Lump reappears as a fruit in Pikmin 3. It is seen 4 times through the story mode, and also throughout Mission Mode and Bingo Battle. It appears in Garden of Hope, Distant Tundra, and Twilight River.

Garden of Hope

The Citrus Lump in the Garden of Hope can only be accessed once Louie has escaped. In the second half of the area, go into the water and lift the Bamboo Gate. There will be many Puckering Blinnows along the way, so make sure to bring plenty of Blue Pikmin. Beyond the Bamboo Gate, to the right lay a small path, and the Citrus Lump is at the end. To carry it back, the Tin Box near the Waddlepus and the Burgeoning Spiderwort must have been dropped into the water.

Distant Tundra

There are two Citrus Lumps in the Distant Tundra.

The first can be found in the cavern with the Pyroclasmic Slooches. In the room, the lights must have been turned on. Afterwards, throw a captain up onto the higher Bloominous Stemple along with a few Pikmin. Proceed to carry the fruit back, but watch out for enemies on the way back.

The second can only be gotten after Charlie had been rescued. Throw 2 captains onto the area with the Dodge Whistle. To the far right of the cliff is a Bouncy Mushroom. Throw one captain onto the mushroom and some Yellow Pikmin onto the mushroom. They will arrive on a high risen area, and the Citrus Lump is buried on the area. There are 2 Bearded Amprats that guard the fruit. Kill the Amprats and build the stack of Hay, and proceed to carry the fruit back. It helps if the Electric Gate near base is demolished.

Twilight River

The Citrus Lump in the Twilight River requires Blue Pikmin. The fruit is in the river near the 2 Dwarf Orange Bulborbs. From that area, go right near the small waterfall, and the Citrus Lump will be seen. Simply put a few Pikmin on it to carry it back to the S.S. Drake.

Notes

Olimar's journal

This fruit was dug up from the floor of an icy cavern. It appears that the fruit's thick skin protected it from the frigid cold... It's quite remarkable. The shape of the fruit eerily resembles the president's head. PS: The labyrinthine underground entrails of this planet are like a completely different world.

Sales pitch

The thick, acidic rind of this item is proof positive of its highly elevated mental functions. When I assess it, I am somehow reminded of a particularly hateful superior. Hurry up and devour it!

Brittany's Notes

NTSC version:

"Sweet and totally delicious, this one has quite a bit of Piktamin U. On closer analysis, the white fiber just inside the skin seems to have the most nutrition, but it's not very tasty. I'll save it for the captain."

PAL version:

"Sweet, succulent and stuffed with Piktamin U! The white fibre on the underside of the peel abounds with nutrients, but it's pretty yucky to eat. A little treat for the Captain, perhaps?"

Trivia

  • Oddly, this creates yellow juice, though tangerines produce orange juice in real life.
