This article is about the rubber duck treasure. For the treasure which is just a head, see Paradoxical Enigma.

The Rubber Ugly (天下一ブサイク?, lit.: "The Ugliest") is a treasure in Pikmin 2. It is a rubber duck, and is found in sublevel 6 of the Shower Room. Olimar thinks this treasure is hideous, in humorous contrast to his feelings of the Paradoxical Enigma, which he apparently perceives as a beautiful work of art.

Collecting the treasure

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

This treasure is in the Shower Room's 6th sublevel. It is likely to be found in water, which means Blue Pikmin are required to get it. A Bumbling Snitchbug may be nearby, so take it out before collecting the treasure.

Notes

Olimar's journal

The first time I laid eyes on this hideous treasure, I though it was a giant aquatic monster! It took me several terror-filled seconds to realize that it's just an ugly statue. What a relief... I was ready to run all the way back to Hocotate!

Sales pitch

Ugliness that can destroy all beauty drives deep despair into the heart of the beholder. This hideous item is a must-have for connoisseurs of all things wretched and repellant.

Trivia

  • The Rubber Ugly could also be found in an early version of the game. It was placed in an unknown cave, definitely not the Shower Room, and had a different appearance.
  • Captain Charlie also possesses a rubber duck, though it is of appropriately smaller size for a Koppaite. He takes it to his missions for good luck, and it is openly called a rubber duck by the crew. It has no real connotation with the Pikmin 2 treasure.
  • It could be said that the Rubber Ugly is what represents treasures in Pikmin 2, since it appears as the icon whenever the game needs to refer to treasures: it is the icon used on the saved game selection menu for the number of treasures, and the icon for the Treasure Hoard button while on the area selection screen. It is also the first treasure when listed alphabetically by the treasures' internal names (ahiru), and has the treasure ID of 0. Additionally, it is featured prominently in prerelease trailers and screenshots.
  • In Pikmin 4, there is an entire series of rubber ducks treasures all called "Rubber Cutie", directly contrasting the name of this treasure.
