The Rubber Ugly is a treasure in Pikmin 2. It is the third treasure found in the sixth sublevel in the Shower Room. It is found in water, which means Blue Pikmin are needed to get it. A Bumbling Snitchbug may be near it so take it out before collecting the prize. Olimar thinks this treasure is hideous, in humorous contrast to his feelings of the Paradoxical Enigma, which he apparently perceives as a beautiful work of art. It is actually a rubber duck.

Prototype

The Rubber Ugly, in the beta version of the game, was found in an unknown cave, definitely not the Shower Room, and had a different appearance.

Notes

Olimar's Journal

NTSC

"The first time I laid eyes on this hideous treasure, I though it was a giant aquatic monster! It took me several terror-filled seconds to realize that it's just an ugly statue. What a relief... I was ready to run all the way back to Hocotate!"

PAL

"The first time I laid eyes on this hideous treasure, I though it was a giant aquatic monster! It took me several terror-filled seconds to realize that it's just an ugly statue."

Sales Pitch

"Ugliness that can destroy all beauty drives deep despair into the heart of the beholder. This hideous item is a must-have for connoisseurs of all things wretched and repellant."

Trivia

  • The Rubber Ugly was originally going to be called the Ugly Duckling.
  • In Pikmin 3, Charlie brings a rubber duck, much like the Rubber Ugly, on all of his missions for good luck. However, considering how large the Rubber Ugly is compared to a Hocotation or a Koppaite, Rubber Duckies on Koppai probably are much smaller.
  • In Pikmin 2, the treasure hoard logo is the beta icon for the Rubber Ugly (notice its black lifeless eyes, compared to its eyes in-game).
