The Orange Bulborb is an enemy in Pikmin 2. It has a general Bulborb appearance, but has black skin, yellow bloodshot eyes, and its backside is orange with black spots. The total effect making it look somewhat like a discoloured ladybug. It has the same strategy that all Bulborbs use for attacking; however, this is a unique Bulborb that has a wider range than other Grub-dogs. It will wake up when a captain ventures within Pikmin throwing range of it. The Orange Bulborb has slightly more health, making it difficult to defeat with the traditional Bulborb-defeating tactics. It is otherwise the same as the other Bulborbs. They may be found in many places, such as the Bulblax Kingdom, or on land in the Wistful Wild, by the Dream Den. Usually when there is one of these around, it is almost sure that there may be many Dwarf Orange Bulborbs around.

Killing Strategy
If a large group of Purple Pikmin is available, simply rain them down on the Orange Bulborb's back. Even with the Bulborb's head start, the Purples will have a good chance of stunning it with serious damage, and usually defeating it without losses.
Orange Bulborbs are tricky without Purples. It is never wise to attack a large grub-dog from the front since they will almost surely bite back, and since the Orange Bulborb will wake up before it can be attacked clearly, it will be highly troublesome. If it is approached from the back, quickly run and rain Pikmin on it. It can then be defeated like any other Bulborb. If there is no choice but to approach it from the front, dismiss the Pikmin (in a safe place) and use a captain to wake it up. Let the Bulborb chase him until he runs out of its range. When it falls back to sleep, return to the creatures back and release an attack. Orange Bulborbs also have a slight delay in between their "yawning" sequence and waking up again, so use this opportunity to pummel it with Pikmin.
Pikmin Adventure
Orange Bulborbs? are the largest of all the common Mecha Bulborbs found throughout? Pikmin Adventure, and is the second miniboss the player fights. It's eyes and color make it resemble the Orange Bulborb from Pikmin 2.
Strategy
Upon entering its area, the mechanical beast will awaken and the battle will begin with a roar. Rather than charging the player like most enemies do, the Orange variety will instead stand in place and shoot Spike Balls out of it's mouth. If the player or Pikmin are equiped with a hammer seed or knuckle seed, they can avoid this attack at the expense of losing the powerup.
The best way to defeat this creature is on multiplayer, as getting behind it is difficult on single player. Have the player controlling Olimar run around so the other Mii Pikmin can get to the weakpoints dotting its back. Once the miniboss has taken enough damage, it will rage and get faster, and will be quicker to shake off Pikmin. Fortunately, the stage may have rocks at its edges. If it does, Olimar or the Pikmin can pick these up to throw them at the boss. If the rocks hit the creature on a weakpoint or directly on it's face, it will be dazed for a few seconds. If utilized properly, the rocks can turn the tide in a losing battle and save the player.
