The Last-Frost Cavern is a cave in the Sun-Speckled Terrace in Pikmin 4. As it appears out in the open on the path to the rest of the area, it is likely this is the first cave the player will explore, though it is not required for progression. It has a single sublevel where 10 Ice Pikmin can be found (though only 5 on future visits). Because of its placement, it's likely that this is where the player will first discover Ice Pikmin. This cave has × 190 worth of treasure.
How to reach
After continuing down the path from the first base and breaking down the first dirt wall, the cave's entrance will be is directly in front of you. Because of its short length, it's recommended you enter it as soon as you discover it.

The first section of the sublevel contains three Female Sheargrubs and the Director of Destiny atop a flowerpot, along with several jars strewn about the room; some are blocking the way forward. Destroy the jars to continue on and ahead will be a lone Snowy Blowhog ferociously battling five wild Ice Pikmin. Assist the Ice Pikmin in their endeavors to persuade them to join the Pikmin Squad. Continue along the path to find a much more open room. Several Sheargrubs, both male and female, find their home in this section. To the left is a paper bag that can be pushed down to open a shortcut, and an empty flowerpot that holds a pile of Raw material. To the right is a stack of bricks concealing another empty pot, this time holding a bulb of Flarlic. Break away the jars with a good rush to collect some more Ice Pikmin and gain access to the Flarlic. In a large bush, the Refreshing Goo can be found hiding. Directly opposite to the original entrance to this room lie two clumps of hydro jelly. Freeze them with the Ice Pikmin, then have the rest of the squad go at it for quicker destruction. Lo and behold, the hydro jelly was blocking off access to both the exit and the Castaway Oatchi had sniffed out when entering the cave. Retrieve the Castaway and proceed to exit the cave with a new stash of collectibles and Pikmin.
