Hot Sandy Duel is the fifth Dandori Battle stage in Pikmin 4. It is a sandy stage focusing on fire, with fiery enemies, fire starters, and dried plants present. In Story Mode, the opponent is Louie. In Dandori Battle mode is it unlocked by completing a match of Leafy Showdown. It has a time limit of 5 minutes.
How to reach
The player must first unlock the Giant's Hearth by winning Leafy Showdown and curing Captain Olimar. In this area, the entrance can be found near the opposite end of the map from the first base, with several different paths leading to it.
It can be entered with just Oatchi, but to transport the castaway to the base, its recommended the player take out Blue Pikmin or Winged Pikmin once they leave, or first drain the water surrounding the entrance.
Layout
Hot Sandy Duel takes place in a square-shaped sandpit, with lateral symmetry instead of the rotational symmetry found in other stages. The bases are on the north and south edges. Lit bonfire altars containing fire starters are located in the northwest and southwest corners. Between these on the western edge is a low area surrounded by dried plants except for a few gaps. These plants can be burned with the fire starters, or they can be burned by the Pyroclasmic Slooches that spawn in the middle of the battle. 6 Sunseed Berries are located behind additional dried plants on the western edge, and a Fiery Bulblax guards a large pile of nuggets.
In the east, there are plastic pots in the corners with Zest Bombs on top that can be knocked off with a Rush from Oatchi or Moss, guarded by Water Dumples. Between these is a high area with two Insect Condos surrounded by rings of dried plants, with a Scorchcake and a pile of nuggets in between.

“This Dandori Battle is sure to get heated with fire starters flying left and right! Use all the Dandori skills you've acquired to win this one.”
“It's all about how you use your fire starters in this stage. If you can't quite figure it out, you can always use a creature instead.”
