Kingcaps (マダラタケ?, lit.: "Spotted Mushroom") are a type of fungus in Pikmin 3 that serve as obstacles. They are usually found blocking the way in corridors, and come accompanied with a series of Spotcaps. Leaders can use their Pikmin to destroy Kingcaps, but the leaders can not destroy the king cap themselves.

Kingcaps have a lot of durability and occupy a lot of space, but once cleared, they open up some significant space. Unlike the smaller Spotcaps, Pikmin can latch on to a Kingcap when thrown, and it has a health wheel.

Poison Kingcap

In Pikmin 4, a poisonous variant of the Kingcap can be seen. It is rarer than its normal counterpart, only being found in 2 caves, the Doppelgänger's Den and the Engulfed Castle. It functions the same as normal Kingcaps, except it can only be attacked by White Pikmin due to its poison. However, they can also be damaged easily by Oatchi's rush.
