Yellow Spectralids (キシジミ?, lit.: "Yellow Lycaenid") are small butterfly-like creatures in Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4. They have yellow wings, very fuzzy, white bodies, purple eyes and two small feet they use to stand on things. In Pikmin 3 they will fly around at any height and land on almost any surface, from flowers to Bulborbs. In this game they also function very much like yellow Unmarked Spectralids from Pikmin 2, in that they leave a drop of nectar when killed. Compared to the other flutterbies in Pikmin 3, Yellow Spectralids have yellow wings with a black "outline", and a black dot exclusive to the bottom wings.

Structural flaw: weak hide
Weight: 1

Its only defense mechanism is its swift, erratic flight. If you can catch it when it's stationary, it's easy to take down, but there's no point unless you're desperate for nectar.

If the color yellow could fly, it would be this animal. It's so thin and papery that there's hardly anything to it apart from color. I think I'd like to fly, but maybe not if I had to give up all my substance.

This one's OK, as the wildlife on this planet goes. It's a nice shade of yellow, but not as perfect as the color of my rubber ducky.

For a tasty appetizer, dip wings into a batter and fry. Can also be used to season stews and soups. Remember to first remove its bitter innards.

Yellow Spectralids
Fenestari jaunoprismatus
Flutterbie family

The primary morphological difference from other spectralids is the eyelike spot on its hind wings. When crossbred with red spectralids, the offspring has a 25% chance of inheriting these spots on orange-colored wings. Would this count as a new subspecies?

Pikmin 3 Prima Guide

Like the White Spectralids, the Yellow Spectralids is a harmless flying creature. However, when you defeat a Yellow Spectralids, it drops a bit of Nectar. If you choose to attack a Yellow Spectralids, use your Winged Pikmin to ensure a short battle.

Behavior

Yellow Spectralids may be seen on the ground, nearby flowers, or the back of a sleeping Bulborb, but in all cases, when a leader or Pikmin approaches them, they will fly away. They will flutter around aimlessly in the air, and while doing so they are difficult to reach. After the leader moves a considerable distance away from the Spectralids, it will return within 10 seconds.

Strategy

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

A direct hit from any type of Pikmin will instantly defeat a Yellow Spectralids. Winged Pikmin are, however, the best option, as they will give chase if the creature tries to fly off.
