Wollywogs are a species of frog-like creatures found in all three Pikmin games that live in the bowels of subterranean areas. As an adaptation to environments with little or no sunlight, they have lost most of their skin pigmentation, giving them an albino-like appearance. In the European version of New Play Control! Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 they are known as "Wollyhops", possibly because the older name could be considered racial or offensive (although unintended).

Some consider it to be the most irritating enemy to fight in both games, due to their exceptional ease of crushing large numbers of Pikmin. They can jump much farther then their yellow cousins. However, they possess less defense than Yellow Wollywogs, potentially making them easier to defeat.

Brawl Trophy Description
Brawl Trophy
The Wollywog is seen as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It reads as follows:
A member of the amphituber family known to be quite quick witted upon spotting enemies, despite its slow- moving, easygoing nature. Be aware that wollywogs will make aggressive attempts to smash Pikmin. It is believed that the Wollywog's whitish coloration is a result of a lack of sunlight over its generations spent in caves.

Battle Strategy
Strategy
Pikmin
Pikmin
Swarm it with a large group of Pikmin. The more Pikmin are attacking at once, the more likely the Wollywog will be weighed down and unable to jump (50 or more will keep it grounded almost every time). If it does get airborne, call back the Pikmin and get them away from the Wollywog's shadow (the area where it will land). Re-swarm when it lands. Note this strategy can cause the crushing glitch.

An alternative method is to get two Yellow Pikmin and give each a Bomb-rock. Throw an armed Yellow Pikmin into the Wollywog's vicinity and the Wollywog will target the Pikmin. When it does, immediately call back the Pikmin and by the time it lands, the Bomb-rock will explode next to it. Repeat once more to kill it. In the New Play Control! version of the game, as Pikmin no longer drop the bomb-rocks when whistled at, a bomb-holding Pikmin must be thrown close to the Wollywog while it is in the air so the Pikmin throws it while it is on the ground.
A way to defeat a Wollywog in Pikmin is to, first, stand in front of it, which should cause the Wollywog to not move from its area. When it is in its standing state, Pikmin can be hurled at it until it hops up, so when the player whistles at the Pikmin, they will return before the Wollywog lands. This can be repeated this until the Wollywog is dead.

The alternative strategy mentioned for Pikmin 2 also works here, but it takes longer than swarming, since throwing is slower on the first game.
Pikmin 2
Pikmin 2
To kill this beast with much ease, Purple Pikmin should be landed in succession on its back. It will then fall back on the ground to remain stuck until it shakes. When it is stuck there, a swarm of Pikmin will ensure a quick kill. Pikmin should not be allowed to swarm it when it is on low health, as it may jump back into the air, and when it actually dies, fall on the entire Pikmin squad, leading to a devastating amount of Pikmin deaths.
Swarming is less effective here, so attack by repeatedly throwing Pikmin, preferably purples, onto its back. It appears to be easier to pin the Wollywog to the ground here than in Pikmin, so it is in fact easier to kill. Once again, in the event it does get off the ground, call the Pikmin back immediately and move them out of the way. An alternate strategy (if one doesn't have Purple Pikmin) is to use a group of about 10-20 Pikmin, and throw all the Pikmin before the Wollywog takes off. It should become airborne, and the moment it starts to land, recall the Pikmin. Because of the falling speeds of Pikmin and the Wollywog, and the fact that Pikmin are invincible when airborne, this is a very viable strategy.

Pikmin 3
Another way to kill a Wollywog is to throw about five to ten Pikmin on the Wollywog. Then, when it jumps it will gain damage right before it hits the floor. Pikmin can be whistled back so they don't get thrown off, as those that do get thrown off are more likely to be killed. If this process is succesfully repeated, no Pikmin should be lost.
Again, Wollywogs would mostly be defeated by throwing Pikmin at them. However, in Pikmin 3, Wollywogs will take damage simply by landing on a Rock Pikmin, so Rock Pikmin are therefore the best choice of Pikmin to use on the offense.
