The Wayward Moon (オミマイノミ?, lit.: "Fruit of Meeting a Patient in the Hospital") is a fruit in Pikmin 3 and a treasure in Pikmin 4. It is a type of muskmelon, called the crown melon, although it bears semblance to a real life cantaloupe. In Pikmin 3, it is worth 3 total bottles of juice (one and a half in Ultra-Spicy mode), the most out of any fruit, tied with the Crimson Banquet. It is spat out by the Quaggled Mireclops after its defeat, along with Louie. In Mission Mode, it appears in Beastly Caverns, located to the immediate southeast of the starting area. Its value is × 1000, the most out of any whole fruit (again, tied with the Crimson Banquet). In Pikmin 4, it can be found in the Blossoming Arcadia and later in the Cavern for a King.
The leaders seem amazed by its texture, and as shown in an unused secret video, Louie is fond of the smell.
Collecting the fruit[edit]

- See also: Quaggled Mireclops strategy.
The Wayward Moon is dropped by the Quaggled Mireclops. Since the Hocotatian is the object of most importance, send the Hocotatian ahead before trying to collect this fruit. It is the heaviest whole fruit in the game, so it is advised to put the maximum of 30 Pikmin on it, and to refrain from letting Winged Pikmin carry it, as Winged Pikmin carry objects slower. All enemies in the way of the carrying path should have been taken out, but there might be a Dwarf Bulborb on the way back.

Blossoming Arcadia[edit]
There is a Wayward Moon lying beneath a water sprinkler on the westernmost side of the overworld. It is guarded by two Yellow Wollywogs, which should be defeated before attempting to collect this treasure, although it is not strictly necessary. To collect this treasure, you must either throw 50 Blue Pikmin at it, or construct the nearby clay valve to get rid of the water from the sprinkler, and then throw 50 Pikmin at it. Another strategy is to have Oatchi retrieve it, as long as he has learned Super Buff level 3 and Doggy-Paddle.
Cavern for a King[edit]
- See also: Smoky Progg strategy.
There is a Wayward Moon inside of the Smoky Progg at the center of sublevel 10 of the Cavern for a King. To collect this treasure, you must first defeat the Smoky Progg, then throw 50 Pikmin at it. There is a glitch where you can obtain this treasure in Cavern for a King even after you already collected it.
