- This article is about the in-game encyclopedia of enemies in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. It is not to be confused with Pikipedia, the name of this wiki.
- This article is about the Piklopedia in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. For other uses, see Piklopedia.
The Piklopedia is a feature in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. (It is not present in the original Pikmin 3.) It is an in-game collection of all of the enemies that the player has beaten so far. There is one entry per enemy, and inside each entry, the player can find a short video of the creature in action, comments by the each of the leaders, a listing of its habitat (i.e. the areas where the player is most likely to find it), and a counter of how many of this creature have been killed throughout all playthroughs of Story Mode. To open the Piklopedia, the player must open the KopPad in Story Mode, and then choose the Piklopedia's app. The Piklopedia is not available from the start of the game, and neither are the entries or the comments. For details on how all of these are unlocked, see below.
Entries[edit]
There are a total of 55 entries. In-game, they are sorted by the order in which the player has unlocked them.
Comments[edit]
Alph, Brittany, Captain Charlie, Louie, and Captain Olimar all have something to say about each entry.
- For a full list, see Category:Pikmin 3 Deluxe Piklopedia comments.
- Alph's comments are based on his views as an engineer, and focus on the creature's design, strengths, and weaknesses. He starts his comments by listing a "structural flaw" in the creature, which refers to a weakness that the player can use for their advantage when fighting against it. Next, he lists the corpse's weight, or "unknown" if not applicable. Finally, he gives his thoughts about how the creature functions, again, in a design-oriented way.
- Brittany's comments are based on her views as an botanist, and she'll occasionally go into detail about the more floral aspects of the creatures. She'll usually talk about the creature's appearance or habits, and how she might be able to use them, or how she could learn from them.
- Charlie's comments are normally about fighting the creature. He gives tips on how to attack, or just quips about the enemy's combat strengths and weaknesses.
- Louie's notes are about how to best cook the creature in order to savor it, much like their Pikmin 2 Piklopedia counterpart.
- Olimar's notes start by specifying the enemy's name, then its scientific name, then its family. Then, he goes into detail about how the creature functions biologically, its quirks and interesting aspects, its lifestyle habits, and so on. Again, these follow their presentation from Pikmin 2.
For enemies that were in Pikmin 2, Louie's notes and Olimar's notes on them are very similar, if not exactly the same as their Pikmin 2 Piklopedia counterpart.
Recipe oddities[edit]
Interestingly, Louie references ingredients found on Earth (cultivated in oxygen). These ingredients could not possibly be known by Louie, as Hocotate has a severely different climate. A possible explanation would be that Hocotatian plants might have similar appearances to those found on Earth, meaning that Louie would be using the names he is familiar with for a completely different plant.
In addition, the following notes conflict with the way enemies die in-game as they do not leave corpses:
These same sort of oddities also exist in Pikmin 2's Piklopedia as listed here.
Unlocking[edit]
Most entries are unlocked by killing and retrieving the enemy, but some have different rules, because their corpses cannot be brought to the Onion. The table above lists each enemy's requirements. Entries can only be unlocked by performing the requirements in Story Mode.
The comments for each leader are unlocked at different times:
- Alph's comments (and the Piklopedia in general) become available at the start of day 2 after observing the Onion in the landing site.
- Brittany's comments become available when the player frees her in the Garden of Hope.
- Charlie's comments become available when the player rescues him from the Vehemoth Phosbat.
- Louie's comments become available when the player rescues him from the Quaggled Mireclops.
- Olimar's comments become available when the player rescues him from the Plasm Wraith.
Once an enemy is logged or a leader's comments are unlocked in the Piklopedia, they will always be available in any Story Mode save file.
Badges[edit]
In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, there are two badges the player can gain from adding creatures to the Piklopedia:
- Animal Annotator: Obtain ten different entries in the Piklopedia.
- Xenobiologist: Complete the entire Piklopedia.
Animal Annotator. The badge shows a Bulborb above a book and pen.
Video inconsistencies[edit]
Each entry has a small video showing the creature in action. Although these videos merely serve to showcase the enemy and nothing else, they usually show footage taking place in the area of Story Mode (described in the "habitat" field) where they would normally be found, with the following exceptions:
- Wogpoles are shown to be in the Garden of Hope. This would be true for the original version. However in Pikmin 3 Deluxe, this is not true, as they no longer spawn within the area.
- Bulbears and Dwarf Bulbears have their videos take place in Twilight River, despite their habitat listed as the Distant Tundra, which is also their only location within Story Mode. In the case of the Bulbear, the footage has a missing clipboard, suggesting the footage is either from a Side Story mission or manipulated footage.
- The Medusal Slurker is seen within Tropical Wilds instead of the Garden of Hope. This is the only location where they would respawn, so capturing footage here makes sense.
- The Baldy Long Legs footage takes place in the Mission Mode exclusive map Tropical Forest, within its Battle Enemies stage. Considering this enemy does not exist within Story Mode, this inconsistency makes sense.
- Similarly, the Red Spectralids video is also in the Tropical Forest, also within its battle enemies stage. This is likely due to their rare appearance in Story Mode.
- Shearwigs are shown to be in another Mission Mode exclusive map, Thirsty Desert. Shearwigs are rare in Story Mode, only appearing in the Formidable Oak, so this could explain the change in location. Although, the Watery Blowhog (another enemy exclusive to the Oak) does have its video take place within it.
- While Swarming Sheargrubs are seen free roaming in the Tropical Wilds, the Lesser Mock Bottom is slightly off of its normal location.

Trivia[edit]
The following article or section is in need of assistance from someone who plays Pikmin 3. |
- It is not possible to see an empty Piklopedia, as the ability to view it is unlocked during day 2, and it is impossible to complete day 1 without defeating and carrying at least 3 Female Sheargrubs.
- When an entry is opened, the bar at the bottom of the screen that explains the controls will be offset to the left a bit. The button legend will not be aligned to the right side of the screen, and the rightmost limit of the bar's graphic can be seen.
- The Mysterious Life-Form does not have a Piklopedia entry.
