Attacks | Discharges electricity |
The Anode Dweevil (キショイグモ?, lit.: "Yellow Carrying Spider") is an enemy in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4. It is a yellow dweevil that will emit an electrical discharge when agitated by attacks. This electrical discharge will immediately electrocute and kill attacking Pikmin without a chance to save them, thus making it one of the most dangerous Dweevils. This suitably makes Yellow Pikmin the best choice in battle. Since Purple Pikmin can stun any small Dweevil, they will also work well; however, this is a very risky strategy. Anode Dweevils also pick up dead foes and treasures, which is common to all Dweevils.

Behavior
Anode Dweevils scurry about randomly and take no note of the presence of any leader or Pikmin if left undisturbed. When provoked one will attempt to defend itself by releasing lethal electricity below it. Anode Dweevils are frail creatures and will die quickly if attacked by even a few Pikmin, or by the punches from a leader.
When a treasure or a corpse of another creature is nearby, an Anode Dweevil will lift it up onto its head and carry it, making it impossible for Pikmin to collect until it is broken free. When a Dweevil has an item in its possession, it will stay at rest, crouching down, appearing as if it is only the item, until it is approached by a leader or Pikmin, at which point it will stand up and run away.
Strategy
The following article or section contains guides. |
It's safest to attack Anode Dweevils with Yellow Pikmin. If Yellows are not available, it's better to kill it with leaders, especially if you have the Anti-Electrifier. Purples also work, as they have a one-hundred percent chance of stunning any small Dweevil; however, due to electricity's instant lethality, this is a riskier strategy, and if you only have a few purples with you, it's best not to attempt it.
If you choose to use a leader to defeat one, run up to it and attack it until it starts glowing. If the Dream Material has already been acquired, keep attacking. If not, run away before it attacks, then run back when the electricity stops and continue the assault.

Trivia
- On the title screen's "Spring" theme, one can see some Anode Dweevils scurry along the tree as the camera moves to the ground. These Dweevils, however, have yellow feelers, as opposed to the regular in-game Dweevils' red feelers.
- In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Anode Dweevils are mentioned in the description for the Yellow Pikmin Trophy.
