Potential "Pikmin Bloom flower types" page

Flower types are an important part of Pikmin Bloom. Many aspects of the game are built around a system of flower types and their different colors. There is a large variety of flower types that appear in several different forms. At the beginning of each month, a new flower type (or a new color of an existing flower type) is introduced to the game and made available to obtain.

Flower type uses

  • Event Challenge missions
  • All seasonal flowers have increased mushroom damage, flower of the month has more
  • Different flower types or colors really serve no unique purpose besides event missions

Types of flowers

  • White Big Flower Normal (unnamed): The standard type of flower, resembling a Chaenostoma cordatum on Pikmin heads and a daisy as a Big Flower. Nectar of this type is obtainable by default from most nectar sources. Comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.
  • Yellow pansy Big Flower Pansy: The first type of rare flower, available from the game's launch. Comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.
  • Red rose Big Flower Rose: Present at the game's launch, roses were originally a very rare type of flower, having a very low chance of being obtainable from Big Flowers when other rare flowers were planted around them. In May 2022, they were made into a regular type of rare flower, being obtainable normally from Big Flowers and later mushroom battles. Comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.
  • Red poinsettia Big Flower Poinsettia: Introduced on the December 2021 Community Day, where most Big Flowers would bloom into it. Originally came in white and red varieties only, with yellow and blue varieties added on December 1st, 2024.
  • Red camellia Big Flower Camellia: Introduced on January 1st, 2022. Originally came in white and red varieties, with yellow and blue varieties added on January 1st, 2025.
  • Red plum blossom Big Flower Plum blossom: Introduced on February 11th, 2022, and originally came in a red variety only, with a white variety added on February 1st, 2023 and a yellow variety added on February 1st, 2024.
  • White cherry blossom Big Flower Cherry blossom: Introduced on March 1st, 2022, and comes in a white variety only (the word "white" is not displayed in the menu).
  • Yellow tulip Big Flower Tulip: Tulips were part of the game at launch, but they were only obtainable from the shop and didn't function properly as there was no tulip nectar at the time, so they were removed from the shop on November 30th, 2021. On April 1st, 2022, tulips were officially added to the game as a normal flower type, with a slightly different appearance. Comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.
  • Red carnation Big Flower Carnation: Introduced on May 1st, 2022, and originally came in white, red, and blue varieties, with a yellow variety added on May 1st, 2023.
  • Blue hydrangea Big Flower Hydrangea: Introduced on June 1st, 2022, and comes in white, red, and blue varieties.
  • White lily Big Flower Lily: Introduced on July 1st, 2022, and comes in white, red, and yellow varieties.
  • Yellow sunflower Big Flower Sunflower: Introduced on August 1st, 2022, and comes in a yellow variety only (the word "yellow" is not displayed in the menu).
  • Red spider lily Big Flower Spider Lily: Introduced on September 1st, 2022, and comes in white, red, and yellow varieties.
  • Red cosmos Big Flower Cosmos: Introduced on October 1st, 2022, and comes in white, red, and yellow varieties.

  • White hibiscus Big Flower Hibiscus: Introduced on August 1st, 2023, and comes in white, red, and yellow varieties.
  • Blue dianthus Big Flower Dianthus: Introduced on September 1st, 2023, and comes in white, red, and blue varieties.
  • Blue gentian Big Flower Gentian: Introduced on October 1st, 2023, and comes in white, red, and blue varieties.
  • White mum Big Flower Mums: Introduced on November 1st, 2023, and comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties. Full name is Chrysanthemums.
  • Yellow helleborus Big Flower Helleborus: Introduced on December 1st, 2023, and comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.
  • Red cattleya Big Flower Cattleya: Introduced on January 1st, 2024, and comes in white, red, blue, and yellow varieties.

Throughout the game's lifespan, the flower species Big Flowers commonly provide has changed frequently to add variety. Originally these changes happened in a rather inconsistent way, but since March 2022 there has been a consistent monthly flower system. Whenever a Community Day event occurs, all Big Flowers bloomed with normal nectar will be the flower the event is themed around.

When the game was released in October 2021, there were two tiers of rare flowers: pansies and roses. Planting regular flowers in the radius would usually make the Big Flower bloom into a regular flower, but there was a small chance that it would bloom into a pansy. Planting pansies in the radius would usually make the Big Flower bloom into a pansy, but there was a small chance that it would bloom into a rose. This made roses very hard to get.

The second Community Day on December 18th, 2021 introduced poinsettia flowers. After that date, poinsettias replaced pansies as the main rare flower, though planting mostly pansies inside the radius continued to bloom a pansy, and this method of blooming out-of-season flowers has continued ever since. Planting poinsettias or pansies had a low chance of making a rose bloom.

On January 1st, 2022, camellias were introduced, and these joined poinsettias as rare flowers that had a low chance of blooming when regular flowers were planted. After the Community Day on January 22nd, poinsettias were no longer available this way. On February 11th, plum blossom flowers were introduced, and now, planting regular flowers had a chance of blooming pansies, poinsettias, camellias, or plum blossoms. The Valentine's Day event on February 14th made roses very common for the day and lowered the rarity of the type.

From March 2022, the system of flower availability from Big Flowers was simplified and the second tier of flower rarity was removed, with roses now being treated the same way as other rare flowers (now called Seasonal Flowers). After this change, planting regular flowers around a Big Flower has a chance of blooming a selection of seasonal flowers from the current Big Flower Forecast. The Big Flower Forecast changes monthly, but occasionally is the same for two months in a row. Additionally, each monthly Big Flower Forecast introduced a new flower, dubbed the Flower of the Month. Community Days continue to change the flower availability for that day/weekend only and feature the current Flower of the Month.

From August 2023, Pikmin with the Flower of the Month blooming on their head gain an additional point of strength in Mushroom battles compared to Pikmin with other seasonal flowers blooming on their head. In months where only one color of a particular flower species was the Flower of the Month, all colors of that species gave this attack boost.

  • This event introduced Event Currency to the Event Challenge system. The design of Event Currency for this event was Halloween Candy Halloween Candy.

  • During the event, Jack-o'-lantern and Halloween Treat Decor Pikmin were stronger against mushrooms, gaining an additional 25 points of attack power. They were especially strong against Halloween Mushrooms.
  • Postcards obtained during the event featured special Halloween themed background and stamp designs.

  • This event introduced the Puzzle Special Decor Pikmin type, with two sets named Puzzle: 2021 Fall Memories and Puzzle: 2022 Summer Memories being available to obtain through different methods.

    • This event introduced flower planting as a method to obtain Event Currency, with one currency earned for every 100 flowers planted. This method stayed for all future Event Challenges.

  • This event introduced new designs of the Mitten Special Decor Pikmin type for Purple, White, Rock, and Winged Pikmin. The existing Mitten Decor Pikmin from the 2022 Holiday Event were also available to obtain.

  • This event introduced the Party Popper 2025 Special Decor Pikmin type.
  • This event ran alongside the 2025 Lunar New Year Event for the last 6 days.
  • The design of Event Currency for this event was Festive Firework Festive Fireworks.
  • The design of Event Mushroom for this event was Mysterious Mushroom Mysterious Mushrooms. Defeating a Mysterious Mushroom granted the player a Mystery Box.
  • Seedlings from Event Challenge missions and from inviting friends grew into a random type of Party Popper 2025 Decor Pikmin.
  • Seedlings from Event Currency missions and from Mystery Boxes grew into a random type of the available Flower Card Decor Pikmin, from both the Volume 1 and Volume 2 sets.
  • Special Mission Tickets, Camellia and Cattleya Gift and Bundle Packs, new and returning Mii costumes, and the Event Premium Pass were available in the shop.
  • During the event, Flower Card and Party Popper 2025 Decor Pikmin were stronger against mushrooms, gaining an additional 15 points of attack power. They were especially strong against Mysterious Mushrooms.
  • Postcards obtained during the event featured special 2025 New Years themed stamp designs and featured the same background designs from postcards collected during the 2024 New Years Event.

  • This event ran alongside the 2025 Lunar New Year Event.
  • The design of Event Currency for this event was Cocoa Bean Cocoa Beans.
  • The design of Event Mushroom for this event was Magnificent Mushroom Magnificent Mushrooms. Defeating a Magnificent Mushroom granted the player a Mystery Box.
  • Seedlings from Event Challenge missions and from inviting friends grew into a random type of Chocolate Decor Pikmin.
  • Seedlings from Event Currency missions and from Mystery Boxes grew into a random type of Valentine Sticker Decor Pikmin. The stickers had new text that read "Happy Valentine's Day 2025", but were not counted as unique Decor Pikmin.
  • Special Mission Tickets, Plum Blossom and Snowdrop Bundle Packs, Valentine's Day Gift Packs, new Mii costumes, and the Event Premium Pass were available in the shop.
