Unlike the members of the opposing gender, the Female Sheargrubs cannot attack the Captains, nor Pikmin. This is due to the lack of powerful jaws. That, along with the light pink colour, make the most distinctive differences between the males and females.Olimar states that their jaws are so weak that the only thing they can consume are the bodily excretions from expired pikmin.

These creatures are also related to the Shearwig.

Female Sheargrubs are cannon fodder and can be defeated with ease by either the Pikmin or Olimar. There is no threat at all. Leading them into water will also deplete their health.
