The Giant Breadbug is a boss in Pikmin 2. Unlike other Breadbugs, this one is large and shaped more almost perfectly cubical, looking like a whole loaf of bread, making it the largest species in the Breadbug family. It acts the same as normal Breadbugs, but is harder to damage by "rejection" from the pod. It is considered by many players to be the easiest boss in the game (boss theme music is not even played, though an exclusive tune is played only in the specific cave sublevel). The more recognizable habitat is located on the last sublevel (6) of the Glutton's Kitchen and consists of only two other Breadbugs, electric nodes, and Anode Beetles.

This creature is also found in the Snack Pit in Challenge Mode.

How to kill

To defeat this enemy, you must wait until it latches onto a treasure or defeated creature. Then, toss onto or swarm the treasure with as many Pikmin as possible (preferably twice as much as the minimum weight, this is easier to accomplish using as many prurple pikmin as possible) and watch them drag the helpless Giant Breadbug toward the pod. As with the normal Breadbugs: Should there not be enough Pikmin on the treasure, then they will be pulled into the Giant Breadbug's den and killed. Once the enemy hits the pod, it will lose half its health. Even if the meter stays green, repeating this step will always result in death. If you are lucky, you may find an egg filled with Mitites. Toss your Purple Pikmin at them and most of the Mitites will die from the impact. These only take one Pikmin to carry. Use a Purple Pikmin on each Mitite to drag the Giant Breadbug up to the pod once it attempts to steal one of these. Purples are also able to take about one eighth of a Giant Breadbug's health away if you land one on its back, which is a great strategy if you run out of objects to bait the enemy with.Take note that if it has taken damage and it drags something into its nest, it will be at full health again.
