Decor Pikmin

Decor Pikmin are special Pikmin in Pikmin Bloom that wear a costume. They have the same function as regular Pikmin, but wear a variety of decorative outfits. There are 23 main types of costumes, and a total of 179 types of Decor Pikmin to collect. Decor Pikmin can be obtained by growing a Huge Seedling, or by leveling up a Pikmin's friendship level to 4 hearts.

Obtaining Decor Pikmin

A Huge Seedling.

One way to obtain Decor Pikmin is by growing a Huge Seedling. These are unlocked at level 10 and can be found from expeditions or leveling up. Huge Seedlings require 10,000 steps to grow, and after growing one in the Planter Pack, plucking it will result in an animation where the Pikmin jumps into a gift box, and comes out as a Decor Pikmin. The type of decor the player gets is determined by where the seedling was discovered. The Pikmin's type (color) is random.

A gift box.

The other way to obtain Decor Pikmin is by leveling up an individual Pikmin's friendship level. This can be done in various ways, such as by sending Pikmin on expeditions or feeding them nectar. Once the Pikmin is at the maximum friendship level of 4 hearts, a new expedition will appear for a gift box. Only the Pikmin that has been leveled up can go on this expedition, and the expedition's destination is the place where the Pikmin's seedling was discovered. After collecting the gift, an animation will play that shows the Pikmin jumping into the box and emerging as a Decor Pikmin. Its decor type is determined by where its seedling was found.

Additionally, the player can obtain special Decor Pikmin by other means.

Decor types

There are 21 basic types of decor that Pikmin can wear, each corresponding with some kind of real-world location. The decor a Pikmin wears depends on where its seedling was found. Pikmin Bloom gets its location data from OpenStreetMap and Foursquare, and can thus only detect location types that are included in those databases.

Some location types can give multiple types of decor. In these cases, the type of decor is randomly given among the options for that location, and cannot be known before the Pikmin gains its decor.

The basic Decor types are listed here in the order they are listed in-game. The icons appear when viewing information about a Pikmin or seedling, and can be used to work out what type of decor a Pikmin will gain.

Roadside Decor Pikmin

If the seedling is not found near any real-world location matching one of the above locations, the decor type will be   Roadside. These Pikmin wear a sticker. Generally, this sticker can be either green, blue, or orange, with each color being worn on a different spot on the Pikmin's body. The sticker contains a letter that is based on the first letter or character of the name of the location where the seedling was found: if the seedling is listed as being 'near' a place, it uses that place's name, otherwise, it uses the name of the general area (such as the city or town it was discovered in), and if it cannot find a name for either, it will default to the letter P. (On postcards and on the static icons in the Decor Pikmin list, the letter is always P.)

Any Roadside-type Pikmin grown from a seedling that was discovered between December 21st, 2021 and January 11th, 2022 will instead have a Christmas-themed sticker. These stickers are bigger than the regular sticker, with each Pikmin type having a different design.

Due to the different colors, as well as the large number of possible characters on the sticker, Roadside Decor Pikmin have much more variety than other types of Decor Pikmin. However, all sticker variations are treated as the same decor type, and therefore only count as one type per Pikmin type in the Decor Pikmin list and towards the Decor Collector badges.

Special Decor Pikmin

Through events and other specific actions,   Special Decor Pikmin wearing unique costumes can be obtained. Special decor is usually restricted to specific Pikmin types.

Mario Hat

This Decor Pikmin wears a replica of Mario's signature red cap. A Huge Seedling for this Pikmin can be obtained when the player links their Nintendo Account to the app. When grown and plucked, the Pikmin inside will don a replica of Mario's hat, with a keyring attached to the end. The seedling comes from Kyoto, Japan, specifically from Nintendo's headquarters, and the decor type is marked as "Special, near Nintendo". This Decor Pikmin will always be a Blue Pikmin.

Lunar New Year Ornament

On February 1st, 2022, to coincide with the Lunar New Year event, a new type of special Decor Pikmin was made obtainable for a limited time. These Decor Pikmin wear red decorations with gold patterns. There are 3 types: a Red Pikmin, a Yellow Pikmin, and a Blue Pikmin. They could only be obtained from a Huge Seedling marked with the   Special Decor icon. Only one seedling could be held at a time; once that Pikmin is plucked, a new event seedling can be discovered. Since February 11th, this type has no longer been obtainable, but it will be possible to get them again in the future.

Strategy

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Decor Pikmin are Pikmin Bloom's main collectable item, so there is an incentive to collect as many types as possible. To aid in getting decor types you don't already have, go to a Pikmin's information page (or a seedling's information page) to look for the icon in the red circle. This icon represents the decor type; the icon associated with each type can be seen in the table above. Focus on increasing the friendship of Pikmin with decor types you don't already have, as when they reach 4 hearts of friendship, they will turn into a Decor Pikmin after collecting a gift. To note is that Roadside-type Decor Pikmin are by far the most common, so if a Pikmin has a   icon, it may be worth ignoring it. Pressing the star in the corner of a Pikmin's page favorites that Pikmin, and this is a useful way to indicate Pikmin you want to prioritize. To see which types of Decor Pikmin you already have, tap a Decor Pikmin-related badge on your profile page and scroll down to see a list of all Decor Pikmin types.

The detector can be a useful way to get Decor types you don't have many of. It displays icons that can tell you what types of Decor Pikmin can be found nearby. Using it has a chance of uncovering seedlings of the decor types displayed, so if you're missing certain types, tactical use of the detector can be handy.

When growing a Huge Seedling, it can be useful to grow it in a single-use slot, as they take a lot of steps to grow compared to other types of seedlings. Huge Seedlings are very rare, so don't be afraid to use single-use slots to grow them.
