The Extraordinary Bolt (ただものではないネジ?, lit.: "Extraordinary Bolt") is a large, but plain bolt featured in Pikmin as a ship part. It has a red plating on the bottom of it. It is described by Olimar as being "Extraordinary!" When collected, it does not change the ship's appearance. Despite being so "extraordinary", 6 of them must be collected across the four areas in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, replacing several of the original ship parts from Pikmin in the mode.
Collecting the part
The following article or section contains guides. |
In Pikmin
It is found behind a black reinforced wall past the original place of the Yellow Onion and the Whimsical Radar, an ideal place to test the usage of Yellow Pikmin with bomb-rocks. It takes 9 bombs to destroy this gate, and it should be noted that a path to the ship should be secured first, especially considering the nearby Sheargrubs and Spotty Bulborbs, if they haven't already been killed. If you are planning to kill them, however, you should kill them using Captain Olimar. It is generally safer because you can avoid Pikmin losses.
In Pikmin 4
Sun-Speckled Terrace
The Extraordinary Bolt is on a raised platform at the area's northern edge, straight north of the Rugged Scaffold landing site. Kill the Watery Blowhog and the two Dwarf Bulborbs near the platform, then throw 5 Pikmin onto a nearby climbing stick. They will automatically climb the stick and carry the part.
Blossoming Arcadia
There are three Extraordinary Bolts in this area.
Sunwashed Plateau
The first Extraordinary Bolt is located north of the Sunwashed Plateau base. Bring at least one Red Pikmin and walk on the path northwest from this base, until you see an iron fence. Go through the fence and throw a Red Pikmin onto the bonfire altar. Use this fire starter to burn the dried plants on the way to the top of the hill that gives the Sunwashed Plateau its name. There you will find a buried Extraordinary Bolt, but before you transport it, make sure to kill the nearby Waddlequaff.
Sprinkler
The second Extraordinary Bolt is located in an alcove in the far north of the area. There is a sprinkler here that can never be turned off, so you need Moss or at least 5 Blue Pikmin. Kill the Desiccated Skitter Leaf that is lying in wait under the sprinkler, preferably using Moss or by precisely throwing a Blue Pikmin onto the creature before it springs up. Once it is dead, you are free to transport the bolt and a pile of raw material to the right.
Burrowing Snagret
- See also: Burrowing Snagret#Strategy.
The third Extraordinary Bolt is inside a Burrowing Snagret in the area's southeast corner. You can reach the Snagret's arena from either the north or the west, but the latter option requires you to build a clay mound near the Fragrant Ravine base. Breaking the eggs around the arena is inadvisable because they may contain Downy Snagrets instead of nectar.
Serene Shores
- See also: Grubchucker#Strategy.
The Extraordinary Bolt is inside a Grubchucker at the area's northern edge, directly north of the Water's Edge base. The Grubchucker is walking in a pool of water that does not recede after noon, so you will normally need Blue Pikmin; there are alternative ways to recover the part from the enemy by using Moss and Ice Blasts, but such methods are much less efficient. Destroying the breakable pots northwest of the Water's Edge base will provide a shorter and safer carrying path for the part.
Hero's Hideaway
Dig a tunnel to the kitchen countertop in the northern part of the area. From there, go left where you will need to build a clay mound. Beyond the mound, the part lies in plain sight. A Hydro Dweevil will drop from the ceiling, so dispatch it before you let Pikmin carry the part.
Notes
Olimar's monologs
“It's the Extraordinary Bolt!
I bought this incredible bolt because the salesman told me it is of extraordinary quality that is indiscernible to the average person. Exactly what makes it so extraordinary is a secret. But just look at it! Extraordinary!
This bolt's bolt holds the kind of value that only a true connoisseur can understand.”

Trivia
- The Extraordinary Bolt can be seen in the enemy reel while showing the Iridescent Flint Beetle. However, it is in The Distant Spring, and the top is green instead of red. It can also be seen while showing the Spotty Bulborb and the Sheargrub.
- The Extraordinary Bolt bears some resemblance to the Superstrong Stabilizer from Pikmin 2, since they're both short and wide screws.
- In Pikmin 2, the Hole of Beasts replaces this part's location.
