The Bearded Amprat is a species found only in Pikmin 3. It is based on a rat, or a guinea pig. When Pikmin approach, the Amprat will rub the fur on its face to generate electricity, charging after Pikmin and eating them. They can be found in the Distant Tundra, Twilight River, and Formidable Oak.

Strategy

Any color of Pikmin works against this enemy, but Yellow Pikmin are recommended, as it has an electric defense. Make sure you use a lot, because it grabs Pikmin off of it and proceeds to eat them. This can be very annoying and hard to avoid, so you can either call them to you quickly, or use several Pikmin. Another strategy is to use the charge attack as an opening to send all your yellow Pikmin to the enemy's back so it cannot eat them. However, the Amprat can send the Pikmin to its front side or simply turn around, so leaving Pikmin alone to fight the enemy is a good way to lose extra Pikmin. A good strategy is to just bombard its head with Rock Pikmin, similar to Pikmin 2's strategy with Purples.
