Because this subject has no official name, the name "Flames" is conjectural.

Flames are obstacles found in Hey! Pikmin. This fire obstacle takes on the form of flames burning on the floor. Their main purpose is to block the way, and like most dangers, Captain Olimar will take damage if he touches them, and non-Red Pikmin will die. Flames can be already present in an area when the player enters it, or created by a Fiery Dwarf Bulblax as it walks around. The flames do not go away on their own, but the player has two ways to smother the fire. They can throw Red Pikmin on it, which will in turn start stomping on it, gradually making it weaker, or they can push an iron block over them.
