As scenery, the Glowcap does not change gameplay at all, unlike its supposed 'relative', the Glowstem, which may cause Bomb Rocks to fall upon contact with it. Pikmin Adventure
In the Nintendo Land attraction Pikmin Adventure , Common Glowcaps are refered to by Monita as Glowing Mushrooms. In this game, they serve a very useful purpose, and grant illumination around a player who makes contact with it. This comes in handy in dark cave levels.
Pikmin 3
Common Glowcaps appear in Pikmin 3, and are used to light up dark areas. They light up when touched.
