The Albino Dwarf Bulborb (コチャッピーモドキ) is a small nocturnal enemy that only appears in p4. This enemy resembles the Dwarf Bulborb in appearance, but has a white to red ombré back instead of a spotted one, similar to the Bulborb Larva, and additionally have slightly larger snouts compared to most Dwarf Bulborbs. These differences largely stem from both its very young age, being the first molt of a Bulborb Larva, and because it is a true member of the grub-dog family rather than a breadbug mimic.

Despite being their young, adult Bulborbs are known to cannibalize Albino Dwarf Bulborbs. In order to avoid this, they are only active at night and in caverns, where the poor visibility allows them to evade predation. The Albino Dwarf Bulborb is noticeably tougher than the Dwarf Bulborb, requiring two direct Pikmin throws to the back to dispatch.

Anode Beetle
North America GameCube/Wii
The Anode Beetle (エレキムシ) is a small enemy found in P2 and P4. This creature is blissfully unaware of Pikmin, and if found alone, is harmless; but if there is a partner nearby, an electrical barrier can be produced between the two, subjecting any nearby Pikmin to electrocution. As such, it is commonly found in groups of 2 or more.

Swarming will not harm it, as it has a protective shell, similar to the Flint Beetles. To damage it, one must throw a Pikmin on top of it to flip it over, then proceed to swarm it. Purple Pikmin can cause them to flip over even if not directly hit.

Arachnode
Japan GameCube/Wii
The Arachnode () is a spider-like enemy in p3 and p4. While dormant on its web, the Arachnode resembles a cocoon, with a black and yellow striped and sphere-shaped body. This shape and coloring comes from the eight legs wrapped tightly around its body; its actual body is comprised of small black orbs with yellow circles instead of stripes. Once a Pikmin or leader gets caught in an Arachnode's web, it will uncurl its legs after a while, and wander up to its prey, consuming them quickly once it has reached them. It may also wander around the web freely in order to avoid Pikmin that are being thrown at it. The web will collapse once the Arachnode is defeated.

Pikmin caught in the web can be saved by whistling at them. This is important, especially with a small squad, as Pikmin shaken off by the Arachnode will usually get stuck in the web. Winged Pikmin carrying objects will get stuck in webs that are along their route, making webs the primary obstacle for these types of Pikmin.

Pikmin Adventure area infobox
The Arctic Cannon Larva (ユキフタクチ) is an enemy in p3 and p4. It is bright green, with a lavender underbelly, and are accustomed to cold conditions. They are the larval form of the Arctic Cannon Beetle.

Unlike their rock-spitting relatives, the Arctic Cannon Larva launches giant snowballs. While mostly equivalent to boulders in functionality, snowballs are incapable of killing Pikmin, instead simply picking them up and carrying them along until they crash into something (even other snowballs); Winged Pikmin won't even be picked up by the projectiles, only knocked back. Leaders will be picked up as well, which also traps them until the snowball is destroyed. As a result, the creature is annoying at best, and is only a threat if the Pikmin it rolls away end up next to some other enemy or hazard without the player noticing, but can be killed with relative ease by any Pikmin type.

The Bulborb (チャッピー), known as the Spotty Bulborb in p1 and the Red Bulborb (アカチャッピー) in p2, is a common enemy found throughout the Ps. The Bulborb is one of the most prominent enemies in the franchise and appear in all 4 numbered Pikmin games. It also has apperances in hp, pa, psm, has several pieces of merchandise based on it, and are the focus of the first game's North American boxart. The Bulborb is the most commonly encountered member of the particularly extensive and diverse Grub-dog family.
Controls for Nintendo Land and pa based on User:PopitTart/Controls.

The Bulborb has pointed snouts, eyes on stalks, and a red back with white spots. It only has two sharp fangs on either side of its mouth. It is a largely nocturnal creature and spends much of its time sleeping, only waking up when detecting potential prey, or during the night. It is often found sleeping near Dwarf Bulborbs, which are actually members of the Breadbug family.

The Yellow Wollyhop (イモガエル; known as the Yellow Wollywog depending on the game and region) is a frog-like enemy found in the Pikmin games. It is a large, round, yellow creature with large eyes and beady pupils, and short front legs with larger hind legs. Its skin is tinted green towards the top of its head, with green spots along the sides. It can usually be found in or around large, open-air bodies of water, but also in moist, rainy areas.
Pikmin Adventure GamePad controls
In Pikmin Adventure, the GamePed player does the majority of the important actions by pressing on the touchscreen.

It is known to leap into the air, floating temporarily, and dropping, with the intent of landing on and crushing any Pikmin below, a behavior which is most readily explained as an attempt to drive predators away from developing eggs. According to Olimar's notes, these are Wolpole eggs, revealing that the Yellow Wollyhop and the Wolpole are the same exact species.

It is the only mature species of amphituber in both Pikmin 3 and Hey! Pikmin. In these games, they also have a reasoning for it's floating ability: it's throat inflates, presumably allowing it to float in the air temporarily. In Hey! Pikmin, it seems to have slightly increased in size and move slightly faster.
Pikmin Adventure Wii Remote controls
In Pikmin Adventure, the Wii Remote player needs to hold the controller sideways to play properly.

Rewrite of Pikmin Adventure enemies
Notes in other languages
The following W.I.P. is a rewrite of the Pikmin Adventure enemies page.

Bulborb
The Bulborb (チャッピー) is the most common Bulborb variant found in Pikmin Adventure, being found in almost every level. It bears a resemblance to the Bulborb from the main Pikmin series, featuring three large white spots on its sides, large stalkless eyes that turn red when attacking, screws connecting the mouth to the main body, two small spots and a hole on its back to expel Bulborb Droppings, and lacks any legs connecting the body to the feet. The average Bulborb is slightly bigger than the player, but there are larger Bulborbs that can be found in certain areas.

Behavior
The Bulborb can be found either sleeping or being sent into the area by a gashapon capsule before it starts walking towards a player. It has two walking speeds, a slow walk and a slightly faster walk that is replaced by an attack once the Bulborb is close to the players. Alongside this is a small hop that it can do to avoid attacks and quickly get close to players. Once the Bulborb is close enough to a player, it will either charge a dash in a straight line or try to eat a player depending on how far they are to the Bulborb. If the Bublorb is able to catch a player, it will toss them up, eat them, and turn them into a Bulborb Dropping, making it impossible for them to be properly whistled at or attack enemies. In this state, the player must be broken out either by Olimar or other Pikmin damaging the Bulborb Dropping or by entering a body of water. If the Bulborb is defeated while a player is bring eaten, the player will be sent flying out of its mouth.

Strategy
The only weak spot the Bulborb has is on its back, making it easy to throw Pikmin at or directly attack it. The Bulborb will try to shake off all of the Pikmin that are on its weak spot, causing them to be knocked over for a little bit. There are ways to circumvent the Bulborb's movement and shaking, however, either by waiting for it to slowly walk around, move out of its sight to make it look for a player in sight, or wait for it to start panting. These are the ideal times to attack the Bulborb since it won't be able to shake off the Pikmin on its back until after it starts trying to move.

The Yellow Bulborb is a common Bulborb variant found in Pikmin Adventure, and acts as the first mini-boss in the attraction. It is almost identical to the Bulborb in appearance, but is colored yellow instead of red or green. Much like the Bulborb, the Yellow Bulborb is typically found slightly larger than players but larger ones are slightly more common to encounter in the challenges.

The Yellow Bulborb, unlike other Bulborb variants, does not charge at far away players, instead, it shoots out a projectile to harm the player. On top of this, the Yellow Bulborb will hop around often to dodge attacks and get close to eat players.

The Yellow Bulborb can either spew orbs of water that ensnare players, rendering them helpless until they are freed, or a spike ball, which will take out a player that gets hit by it. If a player is trapped in a water bubble, they have to be freed by having other Olimar or orher Pikmin attack them, similar to the Bulborb Dropping.

Due to being a variant of the Bulborb, it has a very similar method to defeat it. It will not shake off Pikmin when it is panting or when it is shooting projectiles, meaning those are also good times to attack if the players are able to avoid the projectile.

The Green Bulborb is a semi-common Bulborb variant found in Pikmin Adventure. It is nearly identical to the Bulborb in appearance, except it is green instead of red or yellow. It often appears in groups, requiring players to either take on a small group of them, or in some cases, simply run away from them.

Behavior
Spark dandelion
The Green Bulborb, unlike the other Bulborb variants, can only charge at the players on sight and has no other methods of attack, but it can home in on the player when charging. Once it finishes a charge, it will start panting for a short amount of time.

The spark dandelion is a small tool that lights up when Yellow Pikmin are thrown at it. When activated, it will hold the Yellow Pikmin in place as it lights up an area around it, allowing for Bloominous Stemples to bloom. The spark dandelion will immediately be turned off once the Yellow Pikmin are whistled at.

Strategy
The name comes from the Japanese Hey! Pikmin guidebook, where it was given the name .
Because the Green Bulborb starts panting after charging, it is very easy to attack it when it isn't charging. When the Green Bulborb is charging however, it is advised to run away because the homing charge makies it difficult to attack without getting hit by it. If possible, one should try to lure charging the Green Bulborb into a pit or a small area to deal with them from a safe area.

A table of Hey! Pikmin areas based on a previous edit of Brilliant Garden.

The Bilious Bulborb (テンテンチャッピー) is the rarest non-boss Bulborb variant found in Pikmin Adventure, and is the seventh mini-boss the player fights. Its thinner eyes and orange color scheme resembles that of the Orange Bulborb. It has smaller spots than the other Bulborb variants, so it is suggested by Monita that it may not be a Bulborb subspecies.

Strategy
Main areas
The best way to defeat the Bilious Bulborb is with multiple players. Have the Olimar player run around it so the other Mii Pikmin can get to the weak-points dotting its back. If the arena has rocks or bombs nearby, Olimar or the Pikmin can pick them up to throw them at the Bilious Bulborb. If the rocks hit the creature on a weak-point or directly on its face, it will be stunned for a few seconds. If the bombs land close enough to the Bilious Bulborb, it can deal massive damage to all the weak spots at once. If utilized properly, the rocks and bombs can turn the tide in a losing battle and defeat the Bilious Bulborb.

The Creepy Beeb (ザコワラジ; known as the Worker Baub in the European version) is the most common enemy found in Pikmin Adventure. The standard appearance features a purple orb with four flexible yellow legs with black feet, stalked googly eyes, and a yellow and green antenna coming out of the top of its head. There is also a variant that features blue legs and yellow feet like the King Beeb, with the main design difference being a ring around the yellow tip of the antenna.

Behavior
CarryWeightMinVs - Minimum carry weight in Dandori Battle
When it is not attacking players, the Creepy Beeb will walk towards a player even if they are far from its spawning point. The Creepy Beeb attacks by rolling forward a short distance that can take out a player.

Strategy
CarryWeightMaxVs - Maximum carry weight n Dandori Battle
The Creepy Beeb is the easiest enemy to kill in Pikmin Adventure, as it can die in one direct hit and get weighed down by a single Pikmin due to its entire body being a single weak-point. It only rolls forward a little bit, so avoiding its attack is very simple. Some Creepy Beebs take slightly more hits to kill, but are still very simple to get rid of as their attacks are the same as the small ones.

The Bombardier Beeb (サクレワラジ; known as the Bombardier Baub in the European version) is one of the rarer enemies in Pikmin Adventure. It is a variant of the Creepy Beeb that explodes after a few seconds of spotting a player. It has a number of common characteristics with the Creepy Beeb including black feet and stalked googly eyes, but it also has a few major design differences as well including rivets on its sides and a fuse in place of an antenna.
BombInsideHit - Bomb Rocks consumed needed to kill the actor?

Behavior
PoisonHit - White Pikmin consumed needed to kill actor?
Upon spotting a player, the Bombradier Beeb will activate the fuse on its head and chase after them. After about 5 seconds, it will stand in place and panic for a second before exploding, causing an explosion that can damage nearby players, enemies, and destructible blocks similar to standard bombs.

Strategy
PurpleDirectHit - Purple Pikmin latching on needed to kill actor?
It is not recommended to attack the Bombardier Beeb directly because of the short time it takes before exploding compared to the high amount of health it often has. Instead, the Bombardier Beeb can be used to the players' advantage to destroy other enemies and obstacles, but they must be careful to not get caught in the blast radius, or else they will be engulfed and taken out in the explosion.

The Blowhog (フーセンドックリ; known as the Puffy Blowhog in the European version) is an uncommon enemy that appears in Pikmin Adventure. It is a purple orb with a blue snout that is lifted by a propellor and features eyes that are often covered up by its eyelids almost always being nearly closed.

Behavior
The Blowhog is usually found hovering still and looking in one direction. Once it sees a player the Blowhog will start to move towards them until it gets close enough to the player and turns its snout into a spike and tries to ram the players head-on in a straight line.

Strategy
SnowBallDamage - Damage taken from snowballs?
Since the Blowhog's entire body is a weak point similar to the Creepy Beeb, attacking it is easier then with most enemies. However, it is very mobile, making precision in throwing slightly difficult, and it usually hovers over pits, making it difficult to throw Pikmin at it without losing them. The player can either attack it from afar with a Whip Seed or try to lure it over solid ground to minimize losses.

FreezeDropType - Type of drops if actor is killed while frozen

The Telescoping Pumphog (ポンプドックリ) is a common enemy found in Pikmin Adventure. Its face bears a resemblance to the Fiery Blowhog, sharing very similar eyes and snout, but is otherwise very different, being a stationary tower that can pump out projectiles.
DropStationPieceNum - How many Glow pellets actor drop?

Behavior
URODistanceThesholds - ???
Most Telescoping Pumphogs are completely stationary and are unable to do much of anything other than shoot projectiles while a few others can delve underground and pop back up to shoot projectiles and temporarily avoid damage from players.

When it is stationary, the Telescoping Pumphog sits about, facing a set direction. When it notices a player, it will start rising up, revealing its tube-like under-segment which inflates. It will then push down, which fires out a projectile from its snout. This projectile is usually a spike ball, but there are a few variants that shoot out bombs and water.

Strategy
The Telescoping Pumphog's weak-spot is located directly on its head, making it hard to attack when it rises up to charge its attack. However, when it is on the ground, right after attacking, it is extremely vulnerable, so it is advised to attack them then.

It should be noted, however, that some variants of the Telescoping Pumphog do not have a weak-point at all, making it the only enemy in Pikmin Adventure that is completely invincible. If a player comes across this variant, their only option is to advance to the next part of the level quickly while avoiding the indestructible Pumphog's projectiles.

The Bomb Rock (バクダン岩; formatted as bomb-rock prior to Pikmin 3) is an explosive rock found in the Pikmin games. Upon being activated, a Bomb Rock's fuse starts going down (represented by a colored wheel in the first two games), and when it reaches zero, the bomb causes a violent explosion, capable of damaging enemies, leaders, some obstacles and knocking back and subsequently killing any Pikmin.

How it works has changed, in some fashion, in every entry. In the first and third games, it can be carried by Pikmin, but only by Yellow Pikmin in the former. In Pikmin 2, is slightly larger and serve as an obstacle instead of a tool, with the exception of the 2-Player Battle stage Hostile Territory, where it can be picked up and thrown by leaders. It also appears as an item in 2-Player Battle and Bingo Battle. In Pikmin 4 it's instead an item used by leaders and can be either found in the field or bought from Russ for 8 raw materials per Bomb Rock after accumulating a total of 3000 Sparklium. In the side story Olimar's Shipwreck Tale, Bomb Rocks are similarly found scattered around the four areas, and Olimar gains additional Bomb Rocks as milestone bonuses for recovering 2 and then 13 ship parts.

The King Beeb (キングザコワラジ; known as the Queen Baub in the European version of Pikmin Adventure]]) is the second miniboss encountered in Pikmin Adventure, first seen in both enemy and miniboss form in Boss of the Beebs. It is a large Creepy Beeb that has yellow feet, blue flexible legs, and a blue and yellow antenna resembling the large Creepy Beeb. The primary differences between the King Beeb and the Creepy Beeb is that the Creepy Beeb has flatter, almost googly eyes while the King Beeb has far more spherical eyes like the Geater Bladed Beeb.
Blocks - Set in a room similar to Pikmin 2s Toybox theme. Used in Trial Run, Battle in a Box, and Final Battle

Behavior
Brick - Walls and elevated areas are made out of bricks. Used in Crackling Cauldron
Upon noticing the player, the King Beeb will slowly wander towards them before flashing yellow and curl up into a ball. It will proceed to roll around the area for an extended amount of time, trying to crush the Olimar and Pikmin players. After a short time, the King Beeb may stop rolling by ending up on its back, unable to move for a little bit.

Strategy
Common - Unknown
The King Beeb rolls around faster and longer than the Creepy Beeb so it is advised that players takes advantage of their ability to jump by flicking the GamePad's screen or press wii on their Wiimote in order to avoid being crushed. Some arenas are shaped like an octogon, so running from corner-to-corner while it is rolling around is the best solution to avoid being crushed.

Sometimes, there will be bombs and rocks that can be grabbed. These are good to use against the King Beeb during its rolling attack. While it is possible to stun the King Beeb with a rock throw, there is also a chance that a successful rock throw will not stun it. After rolling the King Beeb will end up laying on its back trying to regain its composure, allowing for the Olimar and Pikmin players to deal tons of damage without much risk of getting hurth themselves.
Concrete - Made out of tiles not to dissimilar to Pikmin 2s Tiles theme. Used in Subzero Sauna

Cleaning up the cutscene page

The Bulblord (トノサマチャッピー) is the first major boss in Pikmin Adventure, appearing in the fourth standard challenge, Overthrow the Bulblord. The Bulblord is an incredibly large Bulborb that has weak spots and smaller white spots dotted all over its back, stalked eyes that can be destroyed, retractable legs, and a mechanism that allows the head to move independently from the rest of the body.
Throughout the Pikmin series, various cutscenes play at certain times. While these cutscenes are playing, the player usually has no control over the game, other than to advance the text, or to skip the cutscene. There are several different types of cutscenes, and they can be either played out by the entities in the game world in real time, or pre-rendered like a movie.

Behavior
Pikmin
Once the battle starts, the Bulblord will start walking towards the players, and will do one of three attacks during its first phase. One attack involves the biting of any players near its mouth. Another attack involves the retraction of its legs and weakpoints and rolling from side-to-side across the stage, much like the Empress Bulblax. The last attack the Bulblord will do during its first phase will be rushing in a straigt line similar to the Bulborb.

During the second phase, the Bulblord will only attack either with its roll or with a combination of the bite and rush attacks that functions similar to the Green Bulborb's homing charge.
Opening
In the opening cutscene, Captain Olimar is shown flying in the S.S. Dolphin. The camera changes to show a meteor that shortly after crashes into the ship. The ship then comes flaming down towards the Pikmin Planet, losing various parts as it falls. The game then begins at The Impact Site, with Olimar lying down, unconscious. After waking up and looking around, he realizes his ship is wrecked.

Strategy
This is what Olimar says after the crash.
guide

It is advised to use a strategy similar to the one used to defeat the Bilious Bulborb, as getting it to turn around in single player is hard; simply have Olimar run behind it, causing it to turn around to attack them. While still dodging its attacks, get the other Mii Pikmin players to attack its weak points.
The player can now take control of Olimar and begin the first day.

After all of the weakpoints have been destroyed, it will gain 2 new ones on its knees. It is best to use the distracting method to aim at these, as the Bulblord will begin to move much faster once these are exposed. Its main attack is a charging-bite in which it dashes across the whole stage in a single direction.
Video on YouTube

Once both of the weakpoints on thelegs are destroyed, it will helplessly roll onto his back, revealing its final weakpoint on its underbelly. Simply throw all your Pikmin and destroy it, which will cause the Bulblord to roar in agony before exploding into Nintendo Land Coins, the park's currency. After defeating the Bulblord, it is possible to unlock it as a statue in the Plaza.
Bad ending
If the player has less than 25 of the required ship parts by the end of the 30th day, Olimar will attempt to leave the planet in a haste, but the engine explodes and the ship crashes back to the ground. After the game's statistics are shown, the Pikmin are seen carrying Olimar's unconscious body to the Red Onion, and Olimar pops out as a Pikmin hybrid.

Destroying both of the Bulblord's eyes will not contribute to the fight in any way aside from rewarding the player with a stamp, the Eyes of the Bulblord.

Monita's Notes
Neutral ending
y:
If the 30th day ends, and Olimar has the 25 required ship parts, he'll try to take off. Olimar quickly runs towards the ship, turns back to take a last look at the Pikmin, and then takes off in a hurry. A Red, Yellow, and Blue Pikmin, all in the leaf stage, will stay and watch Olimar fly away, a bit confused as to why their leader left so quickly. The screen shows Olimar sailing peacefully, albeit bothered that he had to leave so abruptly.

Grub-dog family#Naming
If the player manages to retrieve every ship part before the 30th day, Olimar can go back home fully prepared. When the Secret Safe is retrieved, a small cutscene shows the ship fixing itself for the final time, complete with several shots of the Dolphin's complicated setup. Olimar takes a closer look and jumps in glee.

Names in other languages
Night falls, and Olimar must leave. Before going in, he turns back at the Pikmin, who are all in a straight line looking at him. They then turn their heads to the left in order, forming a little wave. Olimar waves goodbye in the hope that they'll understand. The Pikmin then turn their heads right in order, forming another small wave. With a sigh, Olimar just shakes his head and proceeds to take off. Shortly after, a Spotty Bulborb appears, and the line of Pikmin, now knowing what to do, thanks to Olimar, are quick to fight it off. The S.S. Dolphin is shown flying in space, and several Onions, even some with previously unseen types, are seen following it.

Credits
Credits
The background consists of a shot of the Pikmin Planet, half covered in shade. The credits then roll from bottom to top. Occasionally, images of Olimar's adventure on the planet will appear behind the text, and sometimes comets shoot by. If the player collects all 30 ship parts, the Enemy Reel will play after this. The credits are a pre-rendered cinematic.

The Large-Mouth Wollywog (オオグチイモガエル; known as the Largemouth Wollyhop in the European version of Pikmin Adventure) is the second major boss fought in Pikmin Adventure, being found in the eight challange, Swamp Master (known as Master of the Marsh in the European version). It has almost no resemblance to the Wollywog aside from its basic shape being somewhat similar, instead featuring large cheecks hiding weak spots, stalked eyes, and a large, gaping mouth with a long tongue that ends with either a weak point or a Spike Ball.
Enemy reel
Enemy reel
If the player gets the good ending, a montage of the creatures in the game will play after the credits. This montage consists of pre-rendered beta footage. In the Wii version a flower background was added to fill in the widescreen image while keeping the original footage. In the Nintendo Switch version the enemy reel was re-recorded using footage of the final game.

Behavior
Video of the New Play! Control version of the enemy reel on YouTube
Once the battle starts, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will stay put in the pond in the middle of the arena, where it will either go underwater or do its attack. The Large-Mouth Wollywog's attack is different from other Wollywogs due to the fact that it attacks by unraveling its spiked tongue out of its large, gaping mouth to damage players. After 3 attacks or if the weakspot is hit, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will be stunned by the tounge hitting its head, unable to attack for a short time while the tounge and the weak spot on it is exposed. Once the weak spot on the tounge has been destroyed, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will proceed to hop up before landing back into the pond it started in, leaving the pond dry and the boss stunned with the weak points on its cheeks exposed. After it recovers, the boss will then start to hop around the arena and unrevel its tounge with a Spike Ball in place of the broken weak spot. It will repeat this process until it eventually hops back into the pond and it refills with water and hide the weak spots on its cheeks. Once both weak spots on its cheeks are detroyed, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will yell and close the now destroyed weak spots while the pond is being refilled. During phase 2 the Large-Mouth Wollywog will hop out of the pond and around the stage and unraveling its spiked tongue 3 times in a row before it hops back into the water and repeats the process until it is defeated.

Strategy
Recording of the Nintendo Switch version of the enemy reel on YouTube
guide

As soon as the battle starts, you must be moving constantly to ensure the creature's tongue does not hit you. Staying near the edges of the pond will make it easier to dodge, since the boss has a hard time rotating while in the pond. Once its tongue hits the creature's face on its way back, it will be stunned and the weak spot at the end of the tongue can be attacked without much risk. Once the tongue is destroyed, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will hop and clear the pond of water alongside opening the weak spots on the cheecks. Once it recovers it will start attacking at a much faster pace with a Spike Ball at the end of the tongue.
Direct rip of the Nintendo Switch version of the enemy reel on YouTube

Once the weak spots on the cheecks are destroyed, the Large-Mouth Wollywog will enter its second phase, beginning to jump wildly across the stage counterclockwise, and after four hops (two small, two large), it will shoot out its tongue. Stay on the opposite side of the arena during this, and dodge the attacks. Once the Wollywog finishes, quickly chase after where it is going to land and stay near it. Circle it so that you are always behind its back, making it easy to dodge the tongue. When it finishes its attack, shoot an onslaught of Pikmin at the weak spot on its back. Once this weak spot has been destroyed, it will be defeated.
Minor cutscenes
*When a ship part is collected, a brief cutscene plays showing the part being beamed up to the S.S Dolphin. Then, the screen shows a summary with its name alongside dialogue from Olimar. When collecting the Whimsical Radar, the camera will move towards the back of the ship to get a better view of the part appearing on the ship.

Emperor Pinchipede
Debt Repayment Cinema
Once the debt is payed, this cutscene plays. The ship talks to the two leaders about returning to Hocotate.

The Emperor Pinchipede (ダイオウハサミムカデ) is the third major boss encountered in Pikmin Adventure. It is a centipede like creature with a green side with weak spots and an orange side featuring spikes to take out players. Its seperated appearance and mandibles bears a resemblance to the Armored Mawdad, a creature in Pikmin 3.
<em><poem>:"Mission complete! You've earned 10,000 Pokos!
:Now Hocotate Freight will be prosperous and debt free until the end of time! ...Probably.
:Prepare to blast off! We return to Hocotate triumphantly!"</poem></em>

Strategy
Olimar takes off, unhappy that he had to go in such a hurry. He looks behind him to the Pikmin planet. He then remembers about the Pikmin that helped him, imagining their faces on the planet's surface. He faces forward again to resume flying, only to realize something and he looks back again, seeing that Louie is not in his cockpit. It's too late to go back, as the ship is already warping. The camera then zooms back to show part of the planet.
The Emperor Pinchipede's body is divided into 11 segments, 9 of which have their own weakpoints. 4 of these segments are larger than the others, and are linked together by the smaller segments. Its head, which is its 1st segment, is equipped with a large pair of sharp mandibles which will instantly take out anyone in its way. It is impossible to stun it, leaving you without your stun strategy.

As the Emperor Pinchipede crawls around the battlefield, its weak points can be openly attacked. However, whenever one of the 4 larger segments is broken off, it will land back into the arena and starts to move around the stage, spinning wildly on its orange side with spikes all over it. It is best advised to take out the smaller segments first so the battlefield will be less cluttered.

In this cutscene, the credits roll from bottom to top. In the background, several clips of Louie are seen, showing him lost and wandering around the landscape, sometimes getting into trouble. The environment has been recorded in real life, and Louie was superimposed on top of it.

After all its weak points are destroyed, it will enter its second phase, gaining 1 more on its head segment. However, it will attack by constantly compacting his body segments like an accordion before turning onto its orange side and start shooting itself across the stage. During this process, the weakpoint is also turned over, revealing spikes, making the entire body a dangerous hazard. After it finishes this attack it will immediatly start charging another attack. This time is the ideal time to attack the head.
Video on YouTube

After its head weakpoint is damaged down to half of its health, the Emperor Pinchipede will seperate from all but one segment and start constantly moving while biting. During this phase all of the other segments will once again turn to their orange sides and start moving independantly. The Emperor Pinchipede will periodically stop moving for a but before continuing to move around the stage, making for a great time to attack it while dodging the other segments.
Goal Completion Cinema
This cutscene plays when the player continues the game after repaying the debt. It shows Olimar and the President discussing the fact that there are more treasures on the planet. The President starts talking to Olimar:

The President points at where Louie should be, and the camera pans to show he's not there.
<em><poem>:"...Where's Louie?

This cutscene plays when all 201 treasures have been collected. It shows Olimar taking off, leaving the Pikmin, which are outside of their Onions. While the President chuckles with glee, Olimar starts getting a bit emotional, until he notices the planet's surface, bewildered. The Pikmin start glowing with colors of their respective types, and soon, the ground is covered with several lights. The camera shows the Pikmin dancing while watching their leader go. After a while, Olimar looks up, to notice that the three main Onions have followed him for one last ride. After a while, the Onions return, and Olimar rides back to his home, rather happy.

Trivia
After that, a general shot of the Pikmin planet is shown, demonstrating quite a resemblance to Earth. Seven flowers pop up on the screen, and with letters that write "Pikmin 2". Finally, the game shows on the screen the message "The End".

Video on YouTube

The Greater Bladed Beeb (キザミワラジ; known as the Greater Bladed Baub in the European version of Pikmin Adventure) is the fourth and final boss of the standard challenges in Pikmin Adventure. It is a large, glossy, purple praying mantis-like creature with blades on its arms. It is the only boss in Pikmin Adventure to be treated like a normal enemy in the advanced stages.
Louie's Dark Secret
Louie's Dark Secret is unlocked once the player gets a "pink flower" rating on every Challenge Mode level, obtained by completing the levels without deaths. It's only present in the Bonuses menu.

Monita's Notes
Attacks
Video on YouTube
Once the Greater Bladed Beeb notices the player, it will crawl about the stage, widely swinging its blades. It has three different attacks: one attack with one blade two consecutive times, a seecond attack using both blades and dashes forward shaking off Pikmin, and a third attack where it spins in a circle, which also shakes off Pikmin. Once one of its weak points is broken, it will roar very loudly and turn red, starting the second phase. Now it will use its strike attack and double blade attacks 3 times consecutively.

Strategy
Minor cutscenes
guide
*When a treasure is collected, a brief cutscene plays showing the object being beamed up to the ship or Research Pod. Then, the screen shows a summary with its name, price, and a close-up of the object. There are some frames where it's possible to press in order to skip some states of the cutscene, making it end faster; it's possible to achieve this simply by spamming the button.
Both the head and abdomen are the Greater Bladed Beeb's weak points, but attacking them is made difficult by the boss's reflexes and ability to quickly turn around. Therefore, this boss is best fought in multiplayer. It can be dazed temporarily with a rock, unlike most bosses. Bombs will not stun it, though it will deal a sizable amount of damage. It will occasionally strike, but miss, and its blades will remain stuck in the ground. This is a great time to attack, as well as throw a rock at it, as it will stun it even further.
*If the player chooses to quit a cave from the pause menu, either in the main story mode or Challenge Mode, the Ship's research pod will beam the leader(s) up and take them to safety. In the main story mode, the Pikmin will not be visible, implying they were beamed prior to the cutscene, but in Challenge Mode, the Pikmin remain on the ground, showing that the leaders quit without them.
*Whenever a cave or sublevel is entered, a cutscene shows the leader(s) and Pikmin jumping down.
*If a cave is exited through a geyser, a cutscene plays showing the leader(s) and Pikmin jumping on it and being expelled. The camera remains pointed at the geyser for a few extra seconds, so that, if there are any Bulbmin in the player's party, the cutscene can have enough time to show that the creatures do not follow the party to the surface.
*When a 2-Player Battle game ends, a cutscene highlighting the victory condition takes place.

Pikmin 3
Once the second phase of the battle is initiated, it becomes harder to attack. Wait until it misses with its blade spin attack and use the short moment of time to attack it's backside or the back of its head. A wise strategy is to run around it while at a close distance. If executed correctly, it will not harm the player. Wait until it is finished attacking to attack it in the short window of time in between attacks.

Another slightly more risky strategy is when it comes to slice up, walk straight into it. The Bladed Beeb only hits where the player is at a certain time, and by moving closer, the blades will not harm you. This is risky, since it could very easily get you while coming in. Another wise strategy for the Olimar player is to utilize the Whip Seed or Knuckle Seed. By staying far away from it, the GamePad user can easily pelt it from a safe distance. This works even better in multiplayer, where the Pikmin can distract the Beeb while the GamePad user pelts it from afar.
Opening
This explains Koppai's expedition to find a planet with edible matter. The voice actor Julian Macfarlane narrates the cutscene. In this cutscene, many minor planets can be seen, that all have no known food supply.

In Cage of Terror, you must fight 3 smaller Elemental Bladed Beebs with lower health. The same strategies apply here, but the Beebs now have a shorter attack range and less health, making it an easier fight.
<em><poem>:"Galactic date: 20XX.
:At the far reaches of space lies a planet at the brink of ruin...</poem></em>
Screen is no longer black and Koppai appears.
<em><poem>:The planets name: Koppai.
:Due to a booming population, booming appetites, and a basic lack of planning,</poem></em>
A small bar graph appears near the planet with unreadable text, presumably representing the amount of food on the planet.
<em><poem>:Koppai's inhabitants have all but exhausted their food supply.</poem></em>
Bars in the graph shorten to nearly nothing.
<em><poem>:Their only hope is to find another planet with edible matter.
:Accordingly, they send unmanned scout vessels called "SPEROs" out into space.</poem></em>
Many SPEROs venture out to other planets.
<em><poem>:To their dismay, the search is proving fruitless.</poem></em>
All the SPEROs report back as negative and X's appear on each planet seen.
<em><poem>:Just as they're about to give up...</poem></em>
PNF-404, the most far out planet, gets discovered by a SPERO.
<em><poem>:The final vessel reports back with news of a miraculous discovery.</poem></em>
SPERO reads the planet as "positive."
<em><poem>:They mobilize to investigate the planet, which they name PNF-404.</poem></em>
Alph, Brittany, and Charlie are shown.
<em><poem>:Koppai's last hope rests on three intrepid explorers.</poem></em>
The Drake and its crew initiate the hyper drive sequence, flying it very close to the planet.
<em><poem>:At last the explorers' 279,000-light-year voyage nears its end.
:But as they initiate the landing sequence...</poem></em>
Various warning messages appear around the ship, which then explodes, hurling the leaders away from it.
<em><poem>:Something goes horribly wrong."</poem></em>
A now "real" scene of the leaders hurdling towards PNF-404 appears, as well as the words "Pikmin 3"/"Pikmin 3 Deluxe", as its theme briefly plays.

Endings
*The bottom half of its spherical head seems to resemble a microphone or speaker. This may explain how it makes its deafening roar, despite having no mouth.
After the cutscene showing the Koppaites leaving PNF-404, there is a brief intermission by the narrator, in which he gives a summary of the adventure's results and the consequences it will have back at Koppai. There are four possible narrations, detailed here.
*The Greater Bladed Beeb has a lot of characteristics that other bosses don't possess. Its the only boss seen multiple times in some levels, be seen in both the main and advanced stages, and be treated as a normal enemy.
* The Greater Bladed Beeb is referred to as the "Bladed Beeb" during its introductory cutscene.

Grand Bulblord
Modest supply
The Grand Bulblord (ショーグンチャッピー) is the first boss in the extra challenges of Pikmin Adventure. It is a variant of the Bulblord found in the standard challenges. It has a similar color scheme to the Emperor Bulblax from the main series games and the Green Bulborb also seen in Pikmin Adventure.

Behavior
Reasonable supply
The Grand Bulblord's attacks are very similar to those of the Bulblord, only faster.

Strategy
Healthy supply
guide

The Grand Bulblord has the same strategy as the original Bulblord, but the Grand Bulblord has more health, does not react when the weak points on its back are destroyed, and is faster during its second phase.

What you must do is remove all of its weak points from its back. If you are low leveled, it is recommend to go for the smaller ones first, as they break easily and give you lots of nectar for you to level up with. In the last challenge of the attraction, Goodbye Pikmin, which is a boss rush, a few Creepy Beebs and a Bulborb will spawn in. Getting rid of these first will provide a decent amount of nectar.
Bountiful supply
Once the Grand Bulblord's back weakpoints have been destroyed, its sclera will turn black, and the rings around it's pupils red with rage. The joints on its legs open up into weakpoints, providing the next objective. Begin targeting only one of the legs so that when it breaks, the Grand Bulblord will fall over onto its back, revealing its major weak spot on its underbelly. Once it starts falling over, call your Pikmin and teammates and begin throwing them on top so that everyone can help out. Like the Bulblord, it is possible to get a stamp by attacking and breaking its eyes, which act similar to its weakpoints.
Tutorials
A few tutorials play at key points in the game, which force the player to do certain actions in a semi-cinematic way.

When the final weak point breaks, the Grand Bulblord's head begins to spin ferociously, slowing down gradually until the entire body explodes.
*On the first day, when Charlie is exploring the Distant Tundra, he is eventually surrounded by a group of wild Yellow Pikmin. The game then teaches the player how to whistle, throw and dismiss (dismissing is not done in p3d), by having Charlie attempt those three things in order to shoo away the Yellow Pikmin.
*When Alph finds the trapped Red Onion, a tutorial makes Alph throw the Pikmin at it.
*Upon collecting the KopPad, Alph attempts to find the S.S. Drake's location, and to do so, the player must pan the radar.
*In p3d only, when Alph finds the first dirt wall, there's a tutorial on how to charge.
*When Alph finds the first Rock Pikmin, a tutorial takes place where the Rock Pikmin attempt to crack open a crystal with the Rock Onion in it. The player can either stand and watch as they do so, or whistle them and throw them at it, which are the only two options.
*When Alph and Brittany are reunited on the Garden of Hope, a tutorial takes place with Alph throwing Brittany and some Pikmin atop a ledge, and then Brittany throw the Pikmin up the second ledge to get fruit. This tutorial teaches about throwing and switching leaders.

Destroying both of the Grand Bulblord's eyes will reward the player with a stamp, the Eyes of the Bulblord.
Minor cutscenes
*A small cutscene plays when Charlie's section of the first day ends, which shows him being ambushed by the Vehemoth Phosbat as the Yellow Pikmin flee.
*At the end of the first day, there is a brief cutscene with Alph explaining how he should go in orbit for the night.
*When landing on the Distant Tundra for the first time, a cutscene shows Alph and Brittany's separation.
*Every boss has an introduction and defeat cutscene.
*At the start of every Mission Mode stage, a brief cutscene shows the general layout of the stage as the leaders warm up.
*Every time a data file is collected by the main leader, the action pauses, they spin in place in celebration, and open up the file on the KopPad.

Translucent Wollywog
Pikmin 3 does not have any attraction mode cutscene, but the player can rewatch the prologue cutscene by staying about 4 minutes on the title screen. This cutscene can also be watched by starting a new game. If the player watches it by staying on the title screen, they will have to restart the game (once the cutscene finishes) to watch it again; waiting again will not trigger the cutscene a second time.

The Translucent Wollywog (オオグチカスミガエル; known as Translucent Wollyhop in the European version) is the second boss to be fought in the extra challenges of Pikmin Adventure. It is almost the same exact boss as the Large-Mouth Wollywog from the 16 standard challenges. The only differences between the two are that the Translucent Wollywog is see-through compared to the Large-Mouth Wollywog which is yellow, and that it shoots its tongue out three times in a row instead of just one time.
;Pikmin
#This video demonstrates Pikmin being called out of an Onion, it shows the ability to dismiss the group, and how that should be used to choose the right Pikmin type to carry the appropriate pellets, shows Pikmin being plucked, and shows how they can take down gates together. Curiously, the latter clip shows 19 total Pikmin in the landing site of The Forest of Hope at the start of day 2. This is impossible in the final game since the player needs at least 20 Pikmin to finish day 1, and there is no way for Pikmin to die until after that gate has been destroyed.
#The second one shows a Spotty Bulborb being attacked and its corpse being carried afterwards. Then, it demonstrates the fact that Red Pikmin cannot reach high ledges, but Yellow Pikmin can. Those Red Pikmin are shortly afterwards shown helping the Yellow Pikmin carry the pellet that was on the ledge. It then shows Pikmin carrying a pellet against a Breadbug's strength, it shows an Iridescent Flint Beetle being attacked, and a path covered with Sheargrubs, to which the player goes back the way they came.
#This video shows a bridge being built, and some Pikmin crossing it after it's done, it shows the Yellow Pikmin's ability to carry bomb-rocks, and it demonstrates the difference between throwing and touching them, and throwing and calling them. It also shows 2 bomb-rock-wielding Pikmin being thrown near an enemy, and one of them throwing its explosive to kill the Dwarf Bulborb, while the other goes back into the group. Afterwards, it shows a stone gate being taken down with bomb-rocks, a twig being built and climbed on, and ends with some Pikmin carrying a ship part to the S.S. Dolphin.
#The final video in the loop shows Pikmin being eaten by a Dwarf Bulborb, squashed by a Yellow Wollywog, squashed by an Armored Cannon Beetle rock, blown off the ground by a Puffy Blowhog, burned from a Fiery Blowhog, and it ends with some Pikmin drowning in a pool of water.

Strategy
;Pikmin 2
The strategy used for the Large-Mouth Wollywog also applies here. When it shoots out its tongue, attack it while it is still out, and it will hit itself in the head and be dazed for a bit. It will become dazed on its own, but it will take a while. Use this interval of time to attack the weak point on its tongue, which should break in no time. Once it breaks, the Translucent Wollywog will move back into the center of the pond. Its cheeks are now open as weak points, proceed to throw Pikmin at them, dodging any tongue attacks. After the player breaks both cheeks, its back becomes the final weak point. At this time, it is best to locate a rock, and throw it at the Translucent Wollywog. Chances are that it will be stunned for a decent amount of time, so get behind the Wollywog and throw Pikmin at its back until it breaks, finishing the fight.
#A video demonstrating the hazards. Louie is shown accidentally drowning and setting ablaze some Pikmin, after which Olimar shows up and demonstrates that the whistle can be used to save them. Louie is then shown poisoning a Red Pikmin on accident, but shortly afterwards saving it with a whistle. Finally, Louie is shown walking into an electric gate and being electrocuted.
#The intro cinematic.
#This video shows the various abilities and how sprays work. It begins by showing Purple Pikmin's strength, White Pikmin's poisoning abilities, and their immunity, Red Pikmin's fire resistance, Blue Pikmin's ability to remain underwater and Yellow Pikmin's resistance to electricity. Afterwards, it shows the ultra-spicy spray being used to make enemy killing and task completion faster, and finally, it demonstrates an enemy being petrified with an ultra-bitter spray.
#This cutscene shows how Burgeoning Spiderworts work, how bridges are made, how bags can be walked on, it shows the entrance to caves, the interior and their treasures, and their exit geyser. Afterwards, it shows a couple of strong enemies and bosses.
#A video that shows the multiplayer aspect of the game. It begins by showing some clips of two players playing cooperatively in Challenge Mode, and then it shows two players battling against one another in 2-Player Battle, and the various game mechanics in that mode.
#The intro cutscene, once again.
#This video shows basic Pikmin actions: the ability to pluck them off the ground, their ability to carry objects, fight against enemies, be controlled with the gc, and destroy obstacles.
#The final video of the loop shows Pikmin being taken out of Onions and the ship, them being dismissed, the ability to choose a different Pikmin type from the group, while holding a Pikmin, and the cooperative aspect of the game's 2 controllable leaders.

Sunset
}}

At the end of each day, a cutscene takes place showing the leaders gathering their Pikmin, and getting on their ship. Another cutscene after that shows the ship taking off, and wild creatures roaming below. If any Pikmin were left behind, they'll be shown getting eaten. After these cutscenes, the player is presented with the day's statistics.

Trivia
Minor cutscenes
*Interestingly, the Translucent Wollywog is classified under the wollywog family, not the amphituber family, in both the American and Japanese versions of the game. This is not the case in the European version.
Other, smaller cutscenes play at certain times during the gameplay.
clear

Monochromatic Pinchipede
*In all games, at the start of each day, a cutscene shows the game's spaceship landing, as well as any unlocked Onions.

*Whenever a ship part or treasure is delivered, there is a cutscene that shows the object being sucked by the main ship. If the S.S. Dolphin is ready to go to another area after that, a short cutscene plays showing the ship fixing itself and improving in shape. In Pikmin 2, when a treasure is collected, the player is given a chance to look around the treasure they just collected using .
clean
*Some cutscenes play whenever some special events happen on the progression of the storyline. These are usually followed by Olimar's monologs or the Ship's dialogs:
**An Onion is discovered.
**New Pikmin types are discovered.
**New mechanics are discovered, such as nectar or sprays.
*When a Pikmin extinction occurs, a cutscene plays, showcasing the leader(s) looking around in disappointment and ending the day.
*Should a leader lose all their health, a cutscene shows the leader collapsing to the floor. In Pikmin 2, the ship beams him up, and in Pikmin, the screen fades out to black and the day ends.

The Monochromatic Pinchipede (シロクロハサミムカデ) is the third boss fought during pa extra challenges. Like other members of the Pinchipede family, it is a long centipede-like insect with huge serrated pincers. It looks very similar to the Emperor Pinchipede, only here, it is colored white and has higher speed and health. It looks blue in the first battle it is fought, due to the ambient lighting; during the Boss Rush, it has an orange tint, for the same reasons.
In Pikmin 2, minor explanation cutscenes will make it impossible for the player to press a button for a few seconds after the cutscene is over. The player can still move the leader about, however.

guide
The Monochromatic Pinchipede is fought more-or-less the same way as one would fight the Emperor Pinchipede. The only difference is that the fight requires more care to be taken overall: The Monochromatic Pinchipede has more health compared to it's predecessor, and is generally faster overall.

Begin by targeting the smaller segments of its body. Ironically, these smaller segments have significantly more health than the larger ones, presumably because the larger weak points double as spinning spike tops that circle the arena.
Speeding up
There are some ways to speed up or outright skip certain cutscenes.

Once the smaller portions are removed, quickly remove the larger, more threatening, weak points, which should be easier due to their smaller health pool. After all of the portions are destroyed, the larger spinning sections will stop, and retract back to their original place on the Monochromatic Pinchipede.
In Pikmin 2, holding will make any text that is being written out show up faster. Pressing however will write out all of the text in the box at once. When all of the text is written down in the box, the game prompts the player to press to continue. Upon pressing it, the text currently in the box scrolls up, before the next bit of text starts. If is held down, this vertical scroll is also sped up. So, the fastest way to go through conversation boxes is to press and hold when the text begins to write, press right after to continue &ndash; while keeping the first button held down &ndash; and then to let go and re-hold for the next block.

In Pikmin 3, simply tapping wiiu (or switch for Deluxe) twice will skip the cutscene completely.
The Monochromatic Pinchipede will now pull itself backward and charge up an attack, which reveals its last weak point located on its head. Use this opportunity to dish out as much damage as possible. It will flip over to its black side and rampage across the arena, trying to corner you and crush you with its gaping mandibles. After a few seconds, it will start to slow down, indicating it will start to charge up its attack again.

Once this weak point reaches a quarter of its health, all segments will fling away from the Monochrome Pinchipede and spin around the stage. Care must be taken during this phase.  Avoid the spinning platforms, and wait for the Pinchipede to charge into you. Dodge its attack and begin throwing Pikmin onto its back. These Pikmin will stay on there forever, as the Pinchipede now has no way to shake them off. At this point, you can wait out the battle by avoiding it's attacks while the Pikmin whittle it down, or try to add more Pikmin to the attack to kill it faster. Be careful, though, because the Monochromatic Pinchipede will now constantly chomp it's mandibles during this phase.

Eventually, the last weak spot will reach 0 HP, and the Monochromatic Pinchipede will die.

Greater Studded Beeb
Trivia
*In Pikmins bad ending, the game picks random Pikmin to watch Olimar take off, and later, to carry him to an Onion. The game will not pick Pikmin from types the player does not have.
The Greater Studded Beeb (アバレワラジ; known as Greater Studded Baub in the European version) is the boss of the nineteenth level (The Tyrant Arrives in the European version) and the final boss of the Nintendo Land attraction Pikmin Adventure. It shares the same basic shape with the Bladed Beeb, only it has Spike Balls for hands instead of blades, and starts off with yellow lights instead of green.
*Amusingly, if the player terminates their last day on the planet of the Pikmin via a Pikmin extinction in the first game, three Pikmin will still see Olimar take off on his ship, and there will still be random Pikmin to take him to the Onion.
*Pikmin that are suffering from a hazard will continue doing so during a cutscene, in Pikmin 2. This can prove fatal for the Pikmin, as the player is almost always unable to save them in time.
*Humorously, when Olimar and Louie are heading to the Pikmin planet in Pikmin 2, the Hocotate ship closely dodges a meteor, perhaps as a reference to the impact that caused Olimar to crash on the planet in the first game.
*When the Valley of Repose is entered for the first time at the start of a new game, there is one frame where the player can press in order to toggle the camera's zoom. Nothing will happen in the cutscene, but as soon as gameplay starts, the camera will move outwards. The sound of the camera changing can be heard at the start of the Valley of Repose landing cutscene.
*Pikmin 2s attract mode cutscenes appear to have a continuity of Olimar teaching Louie the basics of controlling the Pikmin.
*In Pikmin 2, if Pikmin are part of a cutscene (e.g.: ultra-spicy spray introduction and treasure collection cutscenes) and are under a status effect, their respective effect timers will continue to count down for the length of the cutscene, and lose their effect sooner than other Pikmin. This is best seen when Pikmin are under the effects of an ultra-spicy spray and deliver a treasure. The Pikmin involved will lose their effects sooner than any other Pikmin sprayed at the same time. This is true as well for the enemy used for the ultra-bitter spray introduction cutscene. Despite this, the ultra-spicy and ultra-bitter introduction cutscenes are very short, as the game pauses soon after it starts to display its respective message. Because of this, the cutscene's effects are negligible.
*Pikmin 2 pre-rendered cutscenes take up a majority of the storage space on the disc. This is due to them being saved in the .thp file format (a type of video file used exclusively in Gamecube and Wii games), which is extremely inefficient at storing data, being essentially just a collection of .jpg files played in sequence.

Strategy
See also
The strategy for killing this beast is basically exactly the same as the Bladed Beeb. Just be wary that the Greater Studded Beeb has significantly more vitality, and is better at blocking attacks from the Knuckle Seed with its Spike Balls.
*Olimar's monologs
*Ship's dialogs
*Olimar's voyage log

The first thing that must be completed to defeat this foe is breaking one of its weak points. Once one of them breaks, it will roar in rage and the yellow lights will turn red, speeding up its attacks and adding consecutive strikes to its attacks.
References
refs
Keeping your distance using Knuckle Seed or Whip Seed is one good strategy, and dashing to either direction when he prepares his double arm smash attack is wise if you want to keep you power-up.

Another quick but sometimes dangerous technique is getting up close and personal with the mantis-monster. If you stay right up against the Greater Studded Beeb and pummel it with your Knuckle Seed power-up, it wont be able to strike you with its attacks most of the time, excluding its spin attack, in which case you want to jump away.

Once defeated, its eyes will widen, and it will collapse on the floor. Your Miis will pose, and the Greater Studded Beeb's body will proceed to explode into tons of Nintendo Land Coins.

Spark dandelion

Location of the Silence Breaker in the Space of Silence.
A group of inactive spark dandelions in Space of Silence.

The name comes from the Japanese Hey! Pikmin guidebook, where it was given the name スパークタンポポ? (lit.: "Spark dandelion").

Locations

  • Ravaged Rustworks
    • Space of Silence: The only spark dandelions in the game appear here. They are found in the room containing the Silence Breaker, where they act as electrical tools that the player has to use in order to activate nearby Bloominous Stemples and reach the treasure.

The Bomb Rock (バクダン岩?, lit.: "Bomb rock"; formatted as bomb-rock prior to Pikmin 3) is an explosive rock found in the Pikmin games.

Cutscene cleanup

Cleaning up the cutscene page

Throughout the Pikmin series, various cutscenes play at certain times. While these cutscenes are playing, the player usually has no control over the game, other than to advance the text, or to skip the cutscene. There are several different types of cutscenes, and they can be either played out by the entities in the game world in real time, or pre-rendered like a movie.

Pikmin

This is what Olimar says after the crash.

The player can now take control of Olimar and begin the first day.

Video on YouTube

Video on YouTube

Neutral ending

If the 30th day ends, and Olimar has the 25 required ship parts, he'll try to take off. Olimar quickly runs towards the ship, turns back to take a last look at the Pikmin, and then takes off in a hurry. A Red, Yellow, and Blue Pikmin, all in the leaf stage, will stay and watch Olimar fly away, a bit confused as to why their leader left so quickly. The screen shows Olimar sailing peacefully, albeit bothered that he had to leave so abruptly.

Video on YouTube

Good ending

If the player manages to retrieve every ship part before the 30th day, Olimar can go back home fully prepared. When the Secret Safe is retrieved, a small cutscene shows the ship fixing itself for the final time, complete with several shots of the Dolphin's complicated setup. Olimar takes a closer look and jumps in glee.

Enemy reel

Main article: Enemy reel.

Minor cutscenes

  • When a ship part is collected, a brief cutscene plays showing the part being beamed up to the S.S Dolphin. Then, the screen shows a summary with its name alongside dialogue from Olimar. When collecting the Whimsical Radar, the camera will move towards the back of the ship to get a better view of the part appearing on the ship.

Pikmin 2

In Pikmin 2, the major cutscenes can be re-seen in the bonuses menu option on the title screen. These are all in the form of pre-rendered video sequences.

Opening Cinema

This cutscene also plays if the player is idle on the title screen for long enough.

"Hocotate Freight is a long-haul, deep-space shipping company.
One day, its only employee of any merit, Captain Olimar...
...crashed on an uncharted planet while on an interstellar vacation.
There, he was aided by the indigenous creatures which he called Pikmin.
In the end, Captain Olimar escaped...
But in Olimar's absence, his employer, Hocotate Freight...
ran into financial difficulties..."

Olimar is then shown returning to Hocotate, after which he speaks to the President.

"Olimar! I'm so glad you're safe! Yes, very glad. Quite glad. But...
Sadly, I have an announcement that is not so glad:
Our company is going under. Yes. We're finished...
On his first mission, Louie here met a ravenous space bunny...
And his entire load of golden Pikpik brand carrots was eaten!
I took out an enormous loan to repay the debt from this loss!
I decided to sell off corporate assets to repay the loan...
But the only asset we had to sell was your ship, the S.S. Dolphin.
As for the rest of our loan...
We have no means to repay it!"

Horrified, Olimar drops a bottle cap he brought along.

"Olimar! What is that?
You brought that back as a souvenir for your kid?"

Louie's eyes pop out, bewildered. The ship then analyzes the bottle cap.

"Treasure! Treasure! Treasure! Money! Money! Money! Money!
Initiating valuation of recovered treasure. This artifact is worth...
100 Pokos!
This thing's worth 100 Pokos?! That's more than a year's salary!"

The President gladly exclaims:

"WHAT?!? There are MORE on that planet? They can repay our debt!
Louie! You dolt! Look alive! You must depart immediately!
...With Captain Olimar!"

The ship is shown taking off in great haste, as they head to the Pikmin Planet.

Video on YouTube

Debt Repayment Cinema

Once the debt is payed, this cutscene plays. The ship talks to the two leaders about returning to Hocotate.

"Mission complete! You've earned 10,000 Pokos!
Now Hocotate Freight will be prosperous and debt free until the end of time! ...Probably.
Prepare to blast off! We return to Hocotate triumphantly!"

Video on YouTube

Credits

See also: Credits.

In this cutscene, the credits roll from bottom to top. In the background, several clips of Louie are seen, showing him lost and wandering around the landscape, sometimes getting into trouble. The environment has been recorded in real life, and Louie was superimposed on top of it.

Video on YouTube

Goal Completion Cinema

This cutscene plays when the player continues the game after repaying the debt. It shows Olimar and the President discussing the fact that there are more treasures on the planet. The President starts talking to Olimar:

"Thanks to you, our company has been saved! Hurrah!
What?!? There's still more treasure? ...Good gravy!
If we collect it all, we'll be filthy rich!
Louie!"

The President points at where Louie should be, and the camera pans to show he's not there.

"...Where's Louie?
What?!? You lost him?
In that case...
I shall go!"

Video on YouTube

Treasure Completion Cinema

After that, a general shot of the Pikmin planet is shown, demonstrating quite a resemblance to Earth. Seven flowers pop up on the screen, and with letters that write "Pikmin 2". Finally, the game shows on the screen the message "The End".

Video on YouTube

Louie's Dark Secret

Louie's Dark Secret is unlocked once the player gets a "pink flower" rating on every Challenge Mode level, obtained by completing the levels without deaths. It's only present in the Bonuses menu.

The short cutscene explains what really happened to the golden Pikpik carrot cargo.

"The President entrusted Louie with the golden Pikpik carrots.
But Louie couldn't suppress his powerful hunger...
And he ate every last one.
Then he falsified his report to the president...
...Which led to Hocotate Freight accruing an insurmountable debt..."

Video on YouTube

Minor cutscenes

  • When a treasure is collected, a brief cutscene plays showing the object being beamed up to the ship or Research Pod. Then, the screen shows a summary with its name, price, and a close-up of the object. There are some frames where it's possible to press the A Button on the GameCube controller / the A Button on the Wii Remote in order to skip some states of the cutscene, making it end faster; it's possible to achieve this simply by spamming the button.[2]
  • If the player chooses to quit a cave from the pause menu, either in the main story mode or Challenge Mode, the Ship's research pod will beam the leader(s) up and take them to safety. In the main story mode, the Pikmin will not be visible, implying they were beamed prior to the cutscene, but in Challenge Mode, the Pikmin remain on the ground, showing that the leaders quit without them.
  • Whenever a cave or sublevel is entered, a cutscene shows the leader(s) and Pikmin jumping down.
  • If a cave is exited through a geyser, a cutscene plays showing the leader(s) and Pikmin jumping on it and being expelled. The camera remains pointed at the geyser for a few extra seconds, so that, if there are any Bulbmin in the player's party, the cutscene can have enough time to show that the creatures do not follow the party to the surface.
  • When a 2-Player Battle game ends, a cutscene highlighting the victory condition takes place.

Opening

This explains Koppai's expedition to find a planet with edible matter. The voice actor Julian Macfarlane narrates the cutscene. In this cutscene, many minor planets can be seen, that all have no known food supply.

"Galactic date: 20XX.
At the far reaches of space lies a planet at the brink of ruin...

Screen is no longer black and Koppai appears.

The planets name: Koppai.
Due to a booming population, booming appetites, and a basic lack of planning,

A small bar graph appears near the planet with unreadable text, presumably representing the amount of food on the planet.

Koppai's inhabitants have all but exhausted their food supply.

Bars in the graph shorten to nearly nothing.

Their only hope is to find another planet with edible matter.
Accordingly, they send unmanned scout vessels called "SPEROs" out into space.

Many SPEROs venture out to other planets.

To their dismay, the search is proving fruitless.

All the SPEROs report back as negative and X's appear on each planet seen.

Just as they're about to give up...

PNF-404, the most far out planet, gets discovered by a SPERO.

The final vessel reports back with news of a miraculous discovery.

SPERO reads the planet as "positive."

They mobilize to investigate the planet, which they name PNF-404.

Alph, Brittany, and Charlie are shown.

Koppai's last hope rests on three intrepid explorers.

The Drake and its crew initiate the hyper drive sequence, flying it very close to the planet.

At last the explorers' 279,000-light-year voyage nears its end.
But as they initiate the landing sequence...

Various warning messages appear around the ship, which then explodes, hurling the leaders away from it.

Something goes horribly wrong."

A now "real" scene of the leaders hurdling towards PNF-404 appears, as well as the words "Pikmin 3"/"Pikmin 3 Deluxe", as its theme briefly plays.

Charlie's introduction

Yellow Pikmin look at Charlie while the camera is viewing from his perspective. After he comes to, they flee, and the camera then zooms out, revealing him and the Distant Tundra.

Alph's introduction

After Alph falls in his crash site in Tropical Wilds. It is a little more sophisticated than Charlie's.

Brittany's introduction

Alph gets a signal from Brittany, he finds a piece of fruit, and the Rock Pikmin destroy a gate.

Endings

After the cutscene showing the Koppaites leaving PNF-404, there is a brief intermission by the narrator, in which he gives a summary of the adventure's results and the consequences it will have back at Koppai. There are four possible narrations, detailed here.

Modest supply

Though not entirely satisfied, the explorers managed to secure a modest supply of edible matter for their home planet. Yet still they wondered, can this handful of seeds really bring salvation to the people of Koppai? Even if they carefully cultivate the seeds they've harvested, it may not be enough to support the entire population. This thought hovers over the explorers as they embark on their journey. Along with their cargo they carry with them a sense of unease.

Reasonable supply

And so the intrepid explorers succeed in securing a reasonable supply of edible matter for their home planet. If they carefully cultivate the seeds they've harvested, they just may bring salvation to the people of Koppai. However if they once again squander their resources, salvation may only be temporary. But fate will decide whether history repeats itself.

Healthy supply

And so the intrepid explorers succeed in securing a healthy supply of edible matter for their home planet. If they carefully cultivate the seeds they've harvested, it will surely bring an end to Koppai's food-supply crisis. And, while brief, the explorers' time working together with the Pikmin has taught them the wisdom of "planning." That wisdom will be the key to harnessing these newfound resources. Simply put, their fate is in their own hands.

Bountiful supply

And so the intrepid explorers successfully complete their mission. After securing a bountiful supply of edible matter and learning the valuable lessons of planning and teamwork, the explorers are set to become the saviors of their home planet. Under their guidance, the seeds they've recovered will be used to kick off a sustainable cycle of cultivation and harvesting, thus bringing new life to Koppai. However, one question remains: what was the cause of the accident that sent the S.S. Drake hurtling to PNF-404's surface? Perhaps, it wasn't an accident after all.

Tutorials

A few tutorials play at key points in the game, which force the player to do certain actions in a semi-cinematic way.

  • On the first day, when Charlie is exploring the Distant Tundra, he is eventually surrounded by a group of wild Yellow Pikmin. The game then teaches the player how to whistle, throw and dismiss (dismissing is not done in Pikmin 3 Deluxe), by having Charlie attempt those three things in order to shoo away the Yellow Pikmin.
  • When Alph finds the trapped Red Onion, a tutorial makes Alph throw the Pikmin at it.
  • Upon collecting the KopPad, Alph attempts to find the S.S. Drake's location, and to do so, the player must pan the radar.
  • In Pikmin 3 Deluxe only, when Alph finds the first dirt wall, there's a tutorial on how to charge.
  • When Alph finds the first Rock Pikmin, a tutorial takes place where the Rock Pikmin attempt to crack open a crystal with the Rock Onion in it. The player can either stand and watch as they do so, or whistle them and throw them at it, which are the only two options.
  • When Alph and Brittany are reunited on the Garden of Hope, a tutorial takes place with Alph throwing Brittany and some Pikmin atop a ledge, and then Brittany throw the Pikmin up the second ledge to get fruit. This tutorial teaches about throwing and switching leaders.

Minor cutscenes

  • A small cutscene plays when Charlie's section of the first day ends, which shows him being ambushed by the Vehemoth Phosbat as the Yellow Pikmin flee.
  • At the end of the first day, there is a brief cutscene with Alph explaining how he should go in orbit for the night.
  • When landing on the Distant Tundra for the first time, a cutscene shows Alph and Brittany's separation.
  • Every boss has an introduction and defeat cutscene.
  • At the start of every Mission Mode stage, a brief cutscene shows the general layout of the stage as the leaders warm up.
  • Every time a data file is collected by the main leader, the action pauses, they spin in place in celebration, and open up the file on the KopPad.

Common cutscenes

Attraction mode

For Pikmin and Pikmin 2, as well as the New Play Control! releases, if the player is idle on the title screen for long enough, the game will start showing a bit of gameplay, to show new players how the game works. Because of the different controls, these vary between game and between the GameCube originals and New Play Control! releases. These pre-rendered cutscenes appear in the order listed below, and loop over to the first one after the last one plays.[3][4][5][6] The Nintendo Switch versions of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 remove these cutscenes entirely.

Pikmin
  1. This video demonstrates Pikmin being called out of an Onion, it shows the ability to dismiss the group, and how that should be used to choose the right Pikmin type to carry the appropriate pellets, shows Pikmin being plucked, and shows how they can take down gates together. Curiously, the latter clip shows 19 total Pikmin in the landing site of The Forest of Hope at the start of day 2. This is impossible in the final game since the player needs at least 20 Pikmin to finish day 1, and there is no way for Pikmin to die until after that gate has been destroyed.
  2. The second one shows a Spotty Bulborb being attacked and its corpse being carried afterwards.
  3. This video shows a bridge being built, and some Pikmin crossing it after it's done, it shows the Yellow Pikmin's ability to carry bomb-rocks, and it demonstrates the difference between throwing and touching them, and throwing and calling them. Dolphin.
  4. The final video in the loop shows Pikmin being eaten by a Dwarf Bulborb, squashed by a Yellow Wollywog, squashed by an Armored Cannon Beetle rock, blown off the ground by a Puffy Blowhog, burned from a Fiery Blowhog, and it ends with some Pikmin drowning in a pool of water.
Pikmin 2
  1. A video demonstrating the hazards.
  2. The intro cinematic.
  3. This video shows the various abilities and how sprays work.
  4. This cutscene shows how Burgeoning Spiderworts work, how bridges are made, how bags can be walked on, it shows the entrance to caves, the interior and their treasures, and their exit geyser. Afterwards, it shows a couple of strong enemies and bosses.
  5. A video that shows the multiplayer aspect of the game. It begins by showing some clips of two players playing cooperatively in Challenge Mode, and then it shows two players battling against one another in 2-Player Battle, and the various game mechanics in that mode.
  6. The intro cutscene, once again.
  7. This video shows basic Pikmin actions: the ability to pluck them off the ground, their ability to carry objects, fight against enemies, be controlled with the the C Stick on the GameCube controller, and destroy obstacles.
  8. The final video of the loop shows Pikmin being taken out of Onions and the ship, them being dismissed, the ability to choose a different Pikmin type from the group, while holding a Pikmin, and the cooperative aspect of the game's 2 controllable leaders.
New Play Control! Pikmin
  1. This video shows that the A Button on the Wii Remote plucks and throws Pikmin, shows Pikmin carrying pellets, and shows that the B Button on the Wii Remote can whistle Pikmin.
  2. This movie shows how the A Button on the Wii Remote can be used to open an Onion's menu, shows that the C Button on the Nunchuk can be used to dismiss, shows that the B Button on the Wii Remote switches Pikmin type while holding a Pikmin with the A Button on the Wii Remote, and shows that the + Control Pad down on the Wii Remote can swarm.
  3. A video showing the Main Engine being carried and delivered, Yellow Pikmin collecting some bomb-rocks, two bomb-rock-carrying Pikmin being thrown at an enemy, but only one throwing its bomb, Yellow Pikmin blowing up a gate, but with one of them caught in an explosion, and the + Control Pad down on the Wii Remote being used to instruct Pikmin to take down a gate and a Spotty Bulborb.
  4. This video shows Pikmin being eaten by a Dwarf Bulborb, swallowed a Spotty Bulborb, tossed by a Swooping Snitchbug, blown by a Puffy Blowhog, run over by an Armored Cannon Beetle's rock, crushed by a Wollywog and being set ablaze by nearby fire geyser. Finally, it shows Pikmin being thrown and defeating a Dwarf Red Bulborb, killing two Red Bulborbs, flipping over an Iridescent Flint Beetle and carrying its spoils, and knocking off nectar from a Honeywisp.
  5. A fifth movie can be found exclusively in the Japanese release. It remixes clips from the other four movies and features karaoke lyrics to Ai no Uta, which plays throughout.
New Play Control! Pikmin 2
  1. The first cutscene shows the Onion menu being accessed with the A Button on the Wii Remote, some Pikmin being withdrawn, it shows that the C Button on the Nunchuk can be used to dismiss the group, shows that the B Button on the Wii Remote can be used to switch Pikmin types while holding the A Button on the Wii Remote, shows the + Control Pad down on the Wii Remote being used to swarm and shows them being ordered in that fashion to attack and destroy a gate.
  2. This video shows the Sunseed Berry being collected, shows that leaders can be switched with the Minus Button on the Wii Remote, shows that the 2 Button on the Wii Remote can be used to deploy an ultra-spicy spray, as well as some Pikmin attacking a Spotty Bulborb while powered up, and shows that the 1 Button on the Wii Remote deploys an ultra-bitter spray, by using it on a Yellow Wollywog.
  3. The introduction cutscene.
  4. This cutscene shows a single Purple Pikmin carrying a red 10 pellet, shows two White Pikmin being eaten by a Spotty Bulborb, who then dies of poisoning, shows White Pikmin destroying a poison emitter, Red Pikmin destroying a fire geyser, Blue Pikmin walking underwater, and Yellow Pikmin tearing down and destroying an electric gate.
  5. A video showing the leaders and Pikmin walking about, building a bridge, running from a Creeping Chrysanthemum, entering a cave, White Pikmin unearthing a buried Essence of Rage, Blue Pikmin carrying the Temporal Mechanism, the leaders and Pikmin escaping to the surface via a geyser, fighting a Hairy Bulborb, running around a Gatling Groink, being knocked down by an Emperor Bulblax, being buried by a Mamuta, avoiding an Empress Bulblax, and ends with the leaders and Pikmin exploring around the Awakening Wood.
  6. This video explains the rules and mechanics for Challenge Mode while showing two-player footage, including The Key being delivered and a geyser appearing. It then shows 2-Player Battle and the various mechanics of the mode.
  7. This cutscene shows Louie gawking at a Red Pikmin sprout, the same clip as on the cutscene for the first day, and shows that the A Button on the Wii Remote can pluck Pikmin. It then shows the A Button on the Wii Remote being used to throw a Pikmin at a Pellet Posy and a pellet, shows Pikmin delivering pellets and the Onion expelling more seeds, and shows that the B Button on the Wii Remote can whistle Pikmin.
  8. Similar to the Japan-only Ai no Uta movie in the original Pikmin, an exclusive movie found only in the Japanese release of New Play Control! 2 will play with the song Tane no Uta, which also features karaoke lyrics. This movie can also be accessed instantly if the player has both the 1 Button on the Wii Remote and the 2 Button on the Wii Remote held down on the title screen when the attraction mode begins.

Sunset

Main article: Sunset.

Minor cutscenes

Other, smaller cutscenes play at certain times during the gameplay.

  • In all games, at the start of each day, a cutscene shows the game's spaceship landing, as well as any unlocked Onions.
  • Whenever a ship part or treasure is delivered, there is a cutscene that shows the object being sucked by the main ship. If the S.S. Dolphin is ready to go to another area after that, a short cutscene plays showing the ship fixing itself and improving in shape. In Pikmin 2, when a treasure is collected, the player is given a chance to look around the treasure they just collected using the Control Stick on the GameCube controller / the Control Stick on the Nunchuk.
  • Some cutscenes play whenever some special events happen on the progression of the storyline. These are usually followed by Olimar's monologs or the Ship's dialogs:
    • An Onion is discovered.
    • New Pikmin types are discovered.
    • New mechanics are discovered, such as nectar or sprays.
  • When a Pikmin extinction occurs, a cutscene plays, showcasing the leader(s) looking around in disappointment and ending the day.
  • Should a leader lose all their health, a cutscene shows the leader collapsing to the floor. In Pikmin 2, the ship beams him up, and in Pikmin, the screen fades out to black and the day ends.

In Pikmin 2, minor explanation cutscenes will make it impossible for the player to press a button for a few seconds after the cutscene is over. The player can still move the leader about, however.

Speeding up

The leaf texture used in Pikmin 2's Challenge Mode menu. (Used on Pikipedia in the stub template.)

This section is a stub. You can help Pikipedia by expanding it.

There are some ways to speed up or outright skip certain cutscenes.

In Pikmin 2, holding the A Button on the GameCube controller / the A Button on the Wii Remote will make any text that is being written out show up faster. Pressing the B Button on the GameCube controller / the B Button on the Wii Remote however will write out all of the text in the box at once. When all of the text is written down in the box, the game prompts the player to press the A Button on the GameCube controller / the A Button on the Wii Remote to continue. Upon pressing it, the text currently in the box scrolls up, before the next bit of text starts. If the B Button on the GameCube controller / the B Button on the Wii Remote is held down, this vertical scroll is also sped up. So, the fastest way to go through conversation boxes is to press and hold the B Button on the GameCube controller / the B Button on the Wii Remote when the text begins to write, press the A Button on the GameCube controller / the A Button on the Wii Remote right after to continue – while keeping the first button held down – and then to let go and re-hold the B Button on the GameCube controller / the B Button on the Wii Remote for the next block.

In Pikmin 3, simply tapping the + Button on the Wii U GamePad (or the + Button on the Switch for Deluxe) twice will skip the cutscene completely.

Trivia

  • In Pikmin's bad ending, the game picks random Pikmin to watch Olimar take off, and later, to carry him to an Onion. The game will not pick Pikmin from types the player does not have.
  • Amusingly, if the player terminates their last day on the planet of the Pikmin via a Pikmin extinction in the first game, three Pikmin will still see Olimar take off on his ship, and there will still be random Pikmin to take him to the Onion.
  • Pikmin that are suffering from a hazard will continue doing so during a cutscene, in Pikmin 2. This can prove fatal for the Pikmin, as the player is almost always unable to save them in time.
  • Humorously, when Olimar and Louie are heading to the Pikmin planet in Pikmin 2, the Hocotate ship closely dodges a meteor, perhaps as a reference to the impact that caused Olimar to crash on the planet in the first game.
  • When the Valley of Repose is entered for the first time at the start of a new game, there is one frame where the player can press the R Button on the GameCube controller / the + Control Pad left or right on the Wii Remote in order to toggle the camera's zoom. Nothing will happen in the cutscene, but as soon as gameplay starts, the camera will move outwards. The sound of the camera changing can be heard at the start of the Valley of Repose landing cutscene.[7]
  • Pikmin 2's attract mode cutscenes appear to have a continuity of Olimar teaching Louie the basics of controlling the Pikmin.
  • In Pikmin 2, if Pikmin are part of a cutscene (e.g.: ultra-spicy spray introduction and treasure collection cutscenes) and are under a status effect, their respective effect timers will continue to count down for the length of the cutscene, and lose their effect sooner than other Pikmin.
  • Pikmin 2's pre-rendered cutscenes take up a majority of the storage space on the disc. This is due to them being saved in the .thp file format (a type of video file used exclusively in Gamecube and Wii games), which is extremely inefficient at storing data, being essentially just a collection of .jpg files played in sequence.
