The Figwort is a cluster of tall, flower-bearing plants. It is non-native to the Pikmin world, hence 'xeno-' in its Latin name. When Olimar comes in contact with the planet for the first time, the Figworts' flowers are blue, and often release extremely small flying insects (considering Olimar's size); in Pikmin 2, they are red, and wilted forms of this plant can be seen. Many wilted ones can be found on the first sublevel of the Frontier Cavern, hiding many Doodlebugs. As scenery, it has almost no gameplay value, but it does occasionally uncover Doodlebugs if a Captain steps through a patch.

Figworts are tall, flowering plants used as scenery in both Pikmin games. In Pikmin 1, figwort flowers are blue. Disturbing certain clusters of plants will release a cloud of tiny flying insects, but neither the plants nor the bugs directly affect gameplay.

In Pikmin 2, figwort blossoms adopt a deep pinkish hue, which is thought to be the result of differing soil conditions; in fact, the color of some flowering plants, hydrangeas in particular, can vary from hot pink to deep blue depending on the acidity or alkalinity of the soil in which they grow. Although the second game does not have the tiny black bugs from Pikmin 1, figworts may hide larger creatures such as Doodlebugs or Unmarked Spectralids. In certain above-ground and cave locations, dead or dormant figworts can be seen, possessing pale or red-orange leaves and without flowers.
