The Pyroclasmic Slooch will sometimes act as an hazard. By leaving trails of fire, it has the ability to block areas for non-Red Pikmin, which will only be accessible if they are defeated by Red Pikmin. It takes 3 Pikmin to carry and is worth 15 Pokos.

Defeating the Pyroclasmic Slooch is simple. Take some Red Pikmin (at least 3) and throw them onto the Slooch's body. If the player has less than 3 Red Pikmin with them, be sure to call them back after a few seconds, because the Slooch will be able to buck them off before dying and be able to eat them. If you don't have Red Pikmin on you, a few direct hits with Rock Pikmin will also do them in. Just make sure to whistle them before they burn to death.

The Pyroclasmic Slooch is an enemy in Pikmin 3. They are slug-like creatures that leave a dangerous trail of fire.
Trivia
They appear to be black, with stripes of red looping around their body. They have two antennae near the top of their cone shaped bodies. The Pyroclasmic Slooch also leaves a trail of combustable slime that coats their bodies as well. The Slooch shrinks considerably when killed and loses it's bright red stripes. It will also cease to burn, allowing all types of Pikmin to carry it.
*It is possible that the name may be a pun of a pyroclastic flow, a fast moving current of hot gas or rock commonly found in volcanoes. This would make sense as these appear to be made of magma.
*Its beta name was "Pyroplasmic Slooch," a one-letter difference between its final name.
*Like the Fiery Bulblax, this creature's flames will extinguish if you lead it into water, allowing all types to attack it. Strangely, they don't extinguish if it's raining.

The Slooch is easy prey for Red Pikmin. It's very slow and its only defense is to throw the Pikmin that have clung to it in front of it. The Pikmin are stunned when thrown off, allowing the Slooch to eat them, but it has so few hit points that a team of five Pikmin are enough to kill it prior.

Other types of Pikmin cannot attack the creature due to its coat of fire, though Rock Pikmin will cause impact damage if thrown at it. They will also survive if called back before burning to death.

The captains cannot harm the Slooch, mostly due to the fact that approaching it will trigger frequent fire damage that keeps the leader from performing any attack animation.
