The Glowstem (ヒカリエノキ?, lit.: "Light Enoki") is a plant in Pikmin 2. While classified as a relative to the Common Glowcap in the Piklopedia, Glowstems are actually artificial red and green light-emitting diodes. They are found exclusively in metal caves, where they are spread randomly along the ground and on metal ledges. Despite appearing to have exposed live wires, Glowstems provide no threat to Pikmin or leaders, only visually flickering slightly upon contact.
Notes
Olimar's notes
“Although they are obviously unrelated, the glowstem bears a striking resemblence[sic] to the street lights on Hocotate. It is highly possible that glowstems could be a relic of some unknown civilization beyond the scope of our imagination.”

Louie's notes
“Inedible. Known effects include uncontrollable episodes of impromptu break dancing.”
Pikmin 2 Nintendo Player's Guide[edit]
“Even more luminous than the Common Glowcaps, Glowstems give the adventurer light in dingy areas. Olimar likens them to the street lights on Hocotate.”

Trivia[edit]
- The "Impromptu break-dancing" mentioned in Louie's notes on the Glowstem humorously refers to the convulsions brought on by being electrocuted.
- In the Japanese version, the Glowstem's family is listed as unknown, instead of belonging to the glowcap family.
- The first half of Olimar's notes on the Glowstem were very different in an early version of the translation found in a playable demo, more closely resembling the Japanese version.[1] Rather than comparing the Glowstem to street lights, Olimar compares it to "the technology behind the LED (Lightning Eedesu) dual terminals", but notes that it "does not exhibit the doppler pushing characteristic of dual terminals".
