Explosion
Explosions are a hazard that appear throughout the Pikmin series. Explosions are capable of damaging nearby enemies, leaders, some obstacles and knocking back and subsequently killing any Pikmin. Leaders are unable to become immune to explosives unlike a number of other hazards.
Sources[edit]
Some tools and enemies can generate explosions, either by self-detonation or by releasing exploding projectiles.
- Bomb Rock – A bomb that explodes after being thrown or interacted with.
- Careening Dirigibug – A flying enemy that generates and throws down Bomb Rocks.
- Gatling Groink – A grounded enemy that shoots out explosive mortars.
- Man-at-Legs – A boss that shoots several rounds of explosions.
- Mine – A bomb that explodes after detecting nearby movement.
- Swooping Snitchbug – A flying enemy that can carry and throw Bomb Rocks in Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4.
- Trackonator – A bomb that moves toward a target before exploding.
- Volatile Dweevil – A Dweevil that carries a Bomb Rock that explodes after noticing a nearby player.
Destroying obstacles[edit]
Explosions can also be used to destroy certain obstacles and objects:
- Black bramble gate
- Breakable pot
- Cobblestone block
- Crystal wall
- Dirt wall
- Egg
- Electrical wire
- Fire geyser (Pikmin 2 only)
- Poison emitter

In Pikmin Adventure[edit]
In Pikmin Adventure, explosions are used as both a tool and hazard that can be used by both players and enemies. Unlike in the main series, explosions slowly grow in size while active. Explosions can also vary in size depending on the scale of the bomb that explodes. The following enemies can utilize explosions.
- Bombardier Beeb – A mobile enemy that explodes after noticing a nearby player.
- Telescoping Pumphog – A stationary enemy that can sometimes shoot out bombs.

- Explosions are counted by Pikmin 2's high scores menu as a hazard that Pikmin can die to, but they are not shown as a hazard in the screen shown before entering a cave.
- Any Pikmin that are currently under the effect of another hazard are not affected by explosions in Pikmin, Pikmin 2, and Pikmin 3.
