BTW, this article implies that anyone other than Louie who would eat a beast would die.ferailo9 07:36, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think there was a misunderstanding about the part under Traits and Abilities which says "As a young boy Louie's grandmother encouraged him to eat bugs. Because of this, he is able to survive eating the creatures of the Pikmin planet." —Jimbo Jambo
- Would it work at all it said "As a young boy, Louie's grandmother encouraged him to eat bugs. Because of this, he is able to survive eating the *poisonous* creatures of the Pikmin planet?" I know this is old, but I just thought it might work, because it seems it's referring to the toxic creatures... Or am I mistaken? The section about death isnt in here, hes suggesting that he tested it and died because of how he could have recorded the notes in the poisonous ones... Prof. 15:25, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Food Thief
I understand that the food thief section of the game will not commence if the player lacks one filled bottle of juice. However, if the player has one filled bottle, will Louie steal any half bottles (as provided by fruits such as the Face Wrinkler)? If so, how are they returned in regards to half-filled bottles collected after the chase?Phineas81707 (talk) 05:48, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- I'm actually not sure how the game handles that chapter when there is no food. I mean, I know Louie won't steal it, but will he...
- a) stay asleep until a night where there is food to steal
- b) wake up on the next day regardless and run off, but without any food in hand?
- As for half-bottles, I'm pretty sure he takes everything, including unfinished bottles. When you recover some fruit on that day, it all starts on fresh canisters. But we could use some confirmation for this, yes. — {EspyoT} 06:51, 16 October 2015 (EDT)
- Finally got proof (first run failed). Findings: Louie steals fractional bottles. If you get a half-bottle (only possible with very few fruits), and then retrieve Louie on a subsequent day, the half bottles combine off-screen. Now for a few other things I found out that run... Trivia
(User:Haven't made one yet, but i'm pretty sure i'll be called CananaMan) Someone add in the Trivia section: -It is unknown how Louie can eat creatures who probably contain oxygen in their bodies, which is poisonous to Hocotations – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 97.85.125.108 • (talk) • (contribs)
- Well, it might be that only oxygen that is breathed in (O2) is poisonous, not so much the oxygen molecules inside enemies. — {EspyoT} 16:12, 22 March 2017 (EDT)
Luigi Quote
Either Mario and Luigi games (there are HUGE sections of those games where you must play as him alone surrounded by boos) or Luigi's Mansion i'm pretty sure that one of them has the quote that Louie also has.
- Problem is, I think Luigi was a "silent" protagonist in both. I'll have to look closely at this... some of me says Luigi had to have said this, but I can't think of a game dark enough where Luigi had dialogue. Paper Mario, maybe? Phineas81707 (talk) 10:01, 28 January 2016 (EST)
- In Luigi's mansion he speak and scream and calls for Mario and stuff while in (at least Mario and Luigi 5) he calls for Mario when you are stuck in the Gloomy woods. Also, I own Super Paper Mario, and Mario and Luigi 4 and 1 and have seen gameplay from the rest of those series and also have seen both Luigi's Mansions. He talks in almost all of them. Pikifan4 (talk) 11:44, 28 January 2016 (EST)
- By silent, I mean that he doesn't have a dialogue box in either. Paper Jam is also not really a good source for the quote, since it was released after all three Pikmin games (meaning if that is the time Luigi says the quote, it'd more likely be a reference to Pikmin than the other way around). Phineas81707 (talk) 19:32, 28 January 2016 (EST)
- He may not have a box, but he speaks through actual sounds like MARIO and stuff. Pikifan4 (talk) 08:44, 29 January 2016 (EST)
- I always thought that Louie says "Olimar... uh, ...Olimar?" as though trying to get his attention. You can hear little radio blips right before he says this so I inferred that he's trying to ask Olimar about some message he just received or something his spacesuit is telling him. Olimar and the President do this as well when their spacesuits make noises, although not specifically saying their partners' names since their partners were subject to change. This seems to stand alone for me; I didn't really think this quote of Louie's was a reference to Luigi. Whenever Luigi calls for Mario in Luigi's Mansion he only calls his name only once, and in the Mario & Luigi/Paper Mario series he has very little if any audio dialogue, even if he has spoken text boxes. Although... Louie is already enough of a reference to Luigi in name and personage alone, I guess. Scruffy (talk) 10:18, 29 January 2016 (EST)
- I'm Pretty sure he says that at one point. The are SO MANY references to Luigi(even without video games). Have you every looked up Do the Flop (song) on the Internet? Well, the guy that points is a reference to Luigi.

Infobox image
The image in the infobox shows a screenshot of Louie from Pikmin 3...but clay artwork of him from Pikmin 2 exists. Is artwork ever prioritized over screenshots, or are images from new games always prioritized over images from older ones? Obsessive Mario Fan 18:45, August 21, 2019 (EDT)
Images from new games are generally prioritized after old ones. For instance, nearly every P3 enemy is taken from a screenshot in-game, but with a white background (at least I think), rather than concept art from P2. The same could easily apply to leaders. I also feel the clay art also strays to far from his in-game appearence, and has a particular style that is quite different than any other art depictions in the series. This is why it should stay in the gallery. I overall think it's fine, besides the fact that it is from an unused cutscene that may not be canon. - CrazyCow August 21, 2019
- I thought so. Pikmin 3 does also feature quite a few redesigns, so that makes a lot of sense. Obsessive Mario Fan 19:49, August 21, 2019 (EDT)
Picture of Louie

What’s Louie’s full name?
I think it’s Louie tromer? I think? What do you think?
WHAT IS IT?!
- As of now, all we know about Louie's name is that it's "Louie". I doubt we'll ever get an official last name. Burrhead2 (talk) 11:17, October 12, 2022 (EDT)
Loozy
I recently came a pre-release article from 2003 about Pikmin 2 that refers to Louie as "Loozy". Afterwards I was able to find other webpages from 2003 that also point to this being his name when the game was revealed in 2003. Other evidence to support this is that the names "Loozy" and "Luji" (zi -> ji) are used for Louie in the game's internal files. I was wondering, should this be mentioned in the article? --AdolescentSeagull (talk) 18:55, February 5, 2023 (EST)
Louie's Whistle in Pikmin 4
How is this known is there a point where louie blows his whistle or just a Sound file left in the game? -LukieD
