The glint beetle family (ショウヤムシ科?, lit.: "Village head bug family") is a family of enemies in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, with only one known species, the Iridescent Glint Beetle. The Iridescent Flint Beetle, the Iridescent Glint Beetle, and the Doodlebug also all belong to the genus Pilli.

Iridescent Glint BeetleEdit

Main article: Iridescent Glint Beetle.

Scientific name: Pilli auricus

The Iridescent Glint Beetle is an insect in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, quite similar to the Iridescent Flint Beetle, except its carapace resembles glittering gold in appearance. This enemy is rarer than the Flint Beetle, but drops more rewards. Like the Iridescent Flint Beetle, it hides underground in a fixed spot, and when approached, emerges and quickly scatters around. When it pauses to rest, the player can throw a Pikmin directly on top of it to make it drop a spoil.

TriviaEdit

  • The Iridescent Glint Beetle belongs in a different family to the Iridescent Flint Beetle while their genera are the same. In real life, it is impossible for members of different families to share a genus; this would mean their genus identifiers are coincidentally the same instead of related.
