To 100% complete the game, it is impossible to only use Red Pikmin, because of the Golden Vaulting Table treasure weighing 100 and Glow Pikmin. But since Glow Pikmin don't appear during the Final results menu, this run will make full use of them- despite the name. Collecting the Onions will cause the final results menu to show additional Pikmin as when more than 3 Onions are collected, the Pikmin will be born in the Onion.
This run will only use Red Pikmin and no other Pikmin present in the Final Results Menu and the Status page of the Tablet. Oatchi is allowed. Glow Pikmin will be allowed. 2-Player mode will be allowed. Items and Upgrades will be allowed. Rewinding will be allowed... as long as no other Pikmin types enter the squad or Onion, anything goes.
This page will split each area into two sections, easy and hard above ground treasures. Easy meaning that it's what you'd likely do during a regular playthough, hard meaning it takes a bit of thought to do. It will then talk about each cave individually
Day 1
This is the tutorial day. When playing as Olimar, smash the breakable pot as the game intends which is fine since they contain only Red Pikmin. Gather some Red Pikmin to battle the Porquillion but when you intend to rush down the metal gate, position Moss directly in the middle to avoid the 2 Blue Pikmin on either ends. Once you're past, beat the Boss as normal and create your character. The rest of the day involves using only Reds so you can complete the day as normal.
Sun-Speckled Terrace
Easy Above Ground Objects
- Aspiration-Ritual Ball
- Oatchi can rush it down from the ledge, so Yellow Pikmin aren't required. Additionally, it is near a Fiery Blowhog so Red Pikmin will be fine carrying it back to base.
- Child of the Earth
- Build the bridge as normal. In this game, fully buried treasures don't require White Pikmin as they have lost their x-ray vision. This means Red Pikmin can dig up the treasure and carry it back to base.
- Double Dragon-Eyed Scope
- It is located on a can which is low enough for Red Pikmin to reach so they can carry it back to base.
- Lesser Mock Bottom
- It's found inside a breakable pot, so once Oatchi or any exploding item has broken it, Red Pikmin can carry it back.
- Orb of Destruction
- Located on a ledge which Oatchi can rush down.
- Perforated Raft x2
- Both are found inside breakable pots, so once broken Red Pikmin can carry them back.
- Sunseed Berry
- Use Oatchi after he grows up to jump up the ledges and have him rush it down from its ledge.
- Temporal Mechanism
- Have Oatchi rush it down from its hanging position.
Hard Above Ground Objects
- Fire-Breathing Feast
- Whilst not hard to collect, reaching it is hard. To collect it, Oatchi can rush it down from its ledge.
- Snack Bean
- The path to collect it is the same path to reach the Fire-Breathing Feast. To collect it, have Oatchi or a Pikmin dig it up from it's dirt bag.
- Talisman of Life (Moon)
- The path to collect it is the same path to reach the previous two treasures. To collect it, defeat the Porquillion which has eaten it.
To reach the area, you need to go through the Aquiferous Summit cave. This puts it in the 'Hard' section. See the Aquiferous Summit section down below.
- Satellite Shield
- It is found buried on a ledge which is too high for Red Pikmin to be thrown. However, if you were to stand on the branch near the ledge, it lifts you up just enough to lock-on to the treasure and for the Red Pikmin to reach.
- Mysterious Carriage
- It is found behind a yellow-handled clipboard, so Red Pikmin are physically incapable of reaching and Oatchi can't rush it down. These types of clipboard require Yellow Pikmin or Winged Pikmin. But, if you were to enter a Night expedition, using the Glow Pikmin's Glowmob ability allows for them to reach high levels. This lets them grab onto the yellow handle so they can pull it down. Returning to the area the next day, the clipboard will be lowered and Red Pikmin can carry it back to the S.S. Beagle
- Flarlic
- This usually requires Yellow Pikmin, but if you stand in the right corner and attempt to run up the wall, you can lock-on to the Flarlic. Then, using gyro controls, you can throw Red Pikmin rapidly, causing them to sort-of bounce off each other. This gives them enough height to just barely reach the top for them to dig up and carry the Flarlic back to base.
Last-Frost Cavern
- Director of Destiny
- Can either be rushed down with Oatchi or Red Pikmin can be thrown to reach it.
- Refreshing Goo
- Found hidden under some leaves, but it's accessible to Reds.
- Flarlic
- Found behind some breakable pots, so once broken Red Pikmin can dig it up and carry it back to base. Just be careful of the Ice Pikmin found inside the pots. Throw 5 Reds over the gap for them to dig it up and stand as far back as possible and have Oatchi rush the pots.
- Castaway
- Located behind two hydro jellies which need to be frozen in order for them to be broken. Ice Pikmin are intended, but if you find/buy an Ice Blast you can use that instead. They can be bought from Russ, found in Dirt-mound or can be gained by the Pebble Pitcher

Crackling Cauldron
Sublevel 1
- Deceptive Snack
- Found on the ground near some Shearwigs. Take them out and have Red Pikmin carry back the treasure.
- Dusty Bed
- Reaching it from the ground at the Paper bag is impossible with Reds, so you'd need to go to the next sublevel entrance to reach. However, that is blocked off by an Electric gate. You can break it with the Pebble Pitcher or with the Anti-Electrifier upgrade.
- Illumination Goo
- Found close to the Deceptive Snack. Have it dug up with Red Pikmin and have them carry it back to base.
Sublevel 2
- Cookie of Nibbled Circles
- Found on a high ledge near the alternate base guarded by the Scorchcake. If you destroy the Sizzling floor diagonal, you can use gyro controls to throw Red Pikmin to just barely reach the top of the ledge meaning they can carry this and the S.S. Chocolate back to base.
- S.S. Chocolate
- Found directly next to the Cookie of Nibbled Circles, so just repeat the method mentioned above.
- Daughter of the Earth
- Found buried in-between 3 sizzling floors, meaning that Reds can be used and are generally recommended to collecting.
- Castaway
- Found on another high ledge. Using the same technique mentioned previously, you can destroy the sizzling floors and just barely throw Reds to reach the castaway.
