Blizzarding Blowhogs (ブリザードックリ?, lit.: "Blizzard Tokkuri") are larger versions of Snowy Blowhogs similar to how the Titan Blowhog is a larger version of Fiery Blowhogs. Since this creature blows ice, Ice Pikmin should be used to defeat them as they are resistant to ice. However, since these Blowhogs can be placed near a void, they aren't fully immune to the creature as they can be thrown to their deaths.

Behavior
Blizzarding Blowhog's act quite similar to their smaller counterparts, the Snowy Blowhog. They will walk around a small area, noticing Pikmin and the captain when they draw near, and will then attack blowing ice out of its mouth. This ice will freeze any Pikmin apart from Ice Pikmin, as they are resistant to ice, but will blow them away. The Blizzarding Blowhog shakes after every attack, throwing all Pikmin attacking it in front of it.
Appearance
The Blizzarding Blowhog looks identical to the Snowy Blowhogs, with the only difference being is that it is a lot larger.
Locations
There are only 2 Blizzarding Blowhogs in the entirety of Pikmin 4, found in Sublevel 7 of the Cavern for a King and Sublevel 2 of The Mud Pit respectively.
Strategy
The following article or section contains guides. |
Ice Pikmin should be used to defeat Blizzarding Blowhogs due to their resistance to ice, but other Pikmin can be used if care is used and you're quick to whistle any frozen Pikmin. To avoid Pikmin falling to their deaths, try to steer the Blowhog to look towards the platforms the cave is made of, this will reduce the chances of Pikmin being thrown off the map. The best way to attack the Blizzarding Blowhog is constantly throw Pikmin at its body until it throws them forward. Whistle all your Pikmin and repeat until the Blowhog is defeated. Due to the ice, acquiring the Thermal Defense, for both the player and Oatchi, from Russ will help greatly as both your character and Oatchi will be resistant to freezing.
An alternative to using Ice Pikmin is to instead use Purple Pikmin, while they are not immune to ice, they are immune to the wind knockback the Blizzarding Blowhog creates. This can be useful in the metal and mud-laden caves in which this enemy appears, since they tend to knock pikmin into bottomless swamps or the abyss. The most effective way to use Purple Pikmin against this enemy is to throw them due to Purple Pikmin's additional impact damage.

Olimar's Notes
“This specimen is actually a Snowy Blowhog, that lethal expeller of icy air. However, it's grown to a gigantic size thanks to an endocrine abnormality.
Unlike the Titan Blowhog, this condition does not sentence the Blizzarding Blowhog with a shorter life span. In fact, its life span is actually much longer than that of the average Snowy Blowhog.
The organs that produce the dry ice are also enlarged in this specimen, perhaps in order to make production more efficient.”Louie's Notes
