This article or section is about an upcoming or recently released game. |
The Bogswallow is an enemy in Pikmin 4. Similar to lithopods, it hides under mud and shoots balls of mud when pikmin are in range. They are particularly dangerous since no pikmin are naturally immune to mud, so fighting them must be done with extra care.

Behavior

The Bogswallow hides under the mud until a captain, Oatchi, or the Pikmin comes close to the mud puddle or goes into the mud. It then comes out of the ground and starts vacuuming Pikmin. Once vacuumed a number of Pikmin, or if it vacuums for too long. It swallows whatever Pikmin it managed to vacuum and begins vacuuming again, or hides back under the mud if the Pikmin are out of range. If the Pikmin are too far out of range to begin with, they will just hide back under the mud.

Charging a large amount of Winged Pikmin is usually the easiest and safest way to kill a Bogswallow. You can also throw a bomb rock at its mouth if it starts to vacuum up Pikmin, causing it to swallow the bomb and die instantly. However, the best way to deal with a Bogswallow is to use Ice Pikmin the freeze the muddy lake they reside. This makes them to be unable to come out of the mud and the ones that do will be frozen, making it easy to kill them.
Notes
Dalmo's Notes
“It pops up out of the mud, often with no warning, to say hello. With a body like a hose and a big round mouth, it sates its appetite by feeding on the mud itself! Its six bright eyes mean it’s sure to see the fondness we have for it six times better! I hope it eats up all that unending affection!”
Olimar's Notes
“This species prefers to inhabit cloudy, stagnant water like that in swamps, and it spends most of its life buried in the mud and hiding. Using its six eyelike sensory organs, it can detect minute movements in the water and vibrations on nearby land. It will then forcefully leap out of the water and suck up its prey to feed. With its entirely cartilaginous skeleton and somewhat primitive features— like its round, chinless mouth— it appears to be some sort of primeval creature.”
Louie's Notes
“Leave it out overnight to drain the mud from the carcass. When ready to eat, cut into rings, then grill over high heat. The more you chew it, the more flavorful it becomes.”
