Albino Dwarf Bulborbs are small nocturnal enemies found in Pikmin 4. These enemies resemble Dwarf Bulborbs in appearance, but have white to red ombré back instead of a spotted one. These Dwarf Bulborbs are only active during the night; therefore, they are only found within caves or on night expeditions. Albino Dwarf Bulborbs can be easily defeated by swarming them, or by throwing a single Pikmin directly on top of them.

Behavior

Albino Dwarf Bulborbs walk around idly, and when a leader or Pikmin draws near they will begin to chase after them until they are out of their territory range, in which case they will go back to their territory and resume walking around. An Albino Dwarf Bulborb will attempt to eat Pikmin close enough to it, and will only grab one Pikmin with a single bite. It can also shake Pikmin off if it is being attacked. Upon death, it will release living Pikmin in its mouth that are yet to be eaten.

Appearance

Albino Dwarf Bulborbs are very similar in appearance to other Dwarf Bulborbs, with the only visual difference is the white to red ombré back instead of the more familiar spotted one. This is due to the fact that they are the larval form of a Bulborb after its first molt.

Strategy

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Pikmin

If you have a large group of Pikmin available, you can simply swarm it. Alternatively, aim and throw a bunch of Pikmin at its back. If a Pikmin lands directly on top of it, it will die instantly. If a Pikmin is caught by one, then it can easily be saved by throwing another Pikmin onto the creature's back. As the enemy dies, any captured Pikmin will be released from its mouth.

Leaders

Simply punching while avoiding its attacks is the most effective strategy for leaders.

Notes

Dalmo's Notes

Among the naturally charming Dwarf Bulborbs, this one might have the most attractive an well-balanced conformation. When night falls, the eyes of these fascinating creatures emit an intense glow. Whether to mesmerise prey or help it to spot others of its kind, it's an intriguing adaptation. I could stare into those shining eyes forever!

Olimar's Notes

A Bulborbs larva after its first molt. Due to its pale coloration, it was assumed to be a mimic when it was first discovered. It was later confirmed to be a true Dwarf Bulborb.

To avoid predation from adult Bulborbs, it spends the majority of the daytime hours hiding underground. It becomes more active at night, when its paler coloration is more difficult to see.

In this state, it is difficult to discern what species of Bulborb any given juvenile may be by appearance alone. It's only after a Bulborb's second most that they start to display more distinguishing species characteristics.

Louie's Notes

Peel off the skin, starting at the tail end. Then slice thinly, and boil in a pit of heavily salted water. Serve immediately.
