Jumbo Bulborbs are massive enemies found in Pikmin 4. These enemies are giant Bulborbs and appear in several places throughout the game. As with most Bulborbs, Jumbo Bulborbs are active during both the day and night; therefore, they can be found in caves and on the surface.

Behavior

Jumbo Bulborbs will either patrol an area or hide within some vegetation and wait to ambush you. They act similar to normal Bulborbs and will return to their territory if taken too far from it.

Once they notice prey, they become aggressive, and will run towards nearby Pikmin, Captains and Oatchi. They will then scream and proceed to lunge at them 3 times to try and eat them. If it manages to catch any Pikmin, up to a max of 15 per attack, it will stand up and eat them; otherwise it will trip then try again. If there are a lot of Pikmin attacking it at once, it will shake them off and then immediately lunge 3 times.

Appearance

Jumbo Bulborbs are the exact same in appearance to normal Bulborbs. The only difference is that they are a lot larger than them.

Pikmin

If you have a large group of Pikmin available, you can simply swarm it. Alternatively, aim and throw a bunch of Pikmin at its back. If a Pikmin lands directly on top of it, it will die instantly. If a Pikmin is caught by one, then it can easily be saved by throwing another Pikmin onto the creature's back. As the enemy dies, any captured Pikmin will be released from its mouth.

“Jumbo. That word sets and image in your mind. being larger than other of its species means its heart is proportionately bigger too, so its devotion to its family also grows! When it savagely bites, it's only doing so to protect those it cares about. The most loving critters can sometimes also be the fiercest.”

“During reproduction, after an egg is fertilized by a sperm, any excess chromosomes are usually discarded through a process called meiosis. But occasionally, this process fails to occur, and a Bulbar individual will develop irregular due to this chromosomal abnormality.

Specimens like this one are stronger than the average Bulborb and can exhibit more aggressive behaviour. However, they are not able to procreate, as they will never reach sexual maturity.”

“It's a larger creature, but the meat is tender and flavourful. It's impossible to eat in one sitting, so store some portions for later. Coat the fattier meat in cooking oil and freeze. Leaner cuts should be smoked.”
