The whiskerpillar family is a family of enemies in Pikmin 2, with only one known member, the Ravenous Whiskerpillar.

Ravenous Whiskerpillar[edit]

Scientific name: Lepidoptera pluckieus
Ravenous Whiskerpillars are harmless enemies in Pikmin 2. These enemies do not care about Pikmin, instead aiming for Burgeoning Spiderworts, particularly their berries. They climb atop the plant and begin chewing on the berries, destroying them. After it's knocked off or it's full, it then burrows underground, making it important to defeat it before it does so. Until it's killed, it will keep returning. This enemy may possibly not actually die, as it can be seen squirming while carried.
Naming[edit]
The family name, Whiskerpillar, is named after its only member, the Ravenous Whiskerpillar.
The family's genus, Lepidoptera, is a real-world order of the same name that contains butterflies. The word Lepidoptera means 'scaly winged', which is most likely in relation to the mature form of the Ravenous Whiskerpillar due to them being caterpillars and not having the usual characteristics.
