The Interstellar Radio (宇宙ムセン?, lit.: "Space Radio") is one of the ship parts featured in Pikmin and Pikmin 4. The Interstellar Radio emits a constant S.O.S. signal, and emits voices to counteract the loneliness of space. Once found and brought back to the S.S. Dolphin, it will float around the spaceship, to starboard of the nose (to the front and right of Captain Olimar when he is seated). During take-off, the Interstellar Radio moves around and latches on to the hull on the starboard side, next to the #1 Ionium Jet. Olimar hints in his second monologue for this part that all parts may not be needed to fly the ship. Because Olimar says this, many players mistake this piece for an optional ship part, but it is mandatory.

Collecting the part

Location of the Interstellar Radio.

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

It is found inside the body of a Puffy Blowhog in the big lake, and may be near three Water Dumples. On land, defeat the Spotty Bulbear to ensure the Pikmin's safety.

Notes

Olimar's monologs

I've found my Interstellar Radio!

Not only does it emit a constant S.O.S. signal, it also broadcasts voices from space that will brighten up my moments of boredom. The Dolphin, while comfortable, becomes quite a lonely place in the depths of the night...

This part will send out a daily S.O.S. signal. I have so little time remaining, though, that I have no option but to continue my search rather than waiting for a rescue party. Having to collect every part is a bit overwhelming...but I get the impression not all parts are needed to fly the ship.

In Pikmin 4

The Interstellar Radio is the final objective of the game's prologue. Captain Olimar and Moss land in the Hero's Hideaway to search for it, and after gathering back his Pikmin that scattered out of the Onion, he investigates the top of a coffee table. There he faces off against a Porquillion which releases the Interstellar Radio upon death, revealing it ate the part. As soon as he retrieves the ship part, he sends out an S.O.S. signal, which is received by the Rescue Corps and many civilians. This sequence is repeated in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale.
