The Fiery Dwarf Bulblax (ヤキコチャッピー?, lit.: "Sizzling Small Chappy") is an enemy in Hey! Pikmin. It is similar to the Fiery Bulblax from Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, in that it chases after and eats Pikmin, its back is on fire, and it has a melted appearance. It is much larger than other dwarf mimics and does not have teeth. Because of its fiery back, it can only be defeated with Red Pikmin.

Behavior[edit]

The following article or section is in need of assistance from someone who plays Hey! Pikmin.
Particularly: Describe its behavior when it sees Pikmin, when it attacks, when it shakes, when it loses interest, etc.

If left idle, a Dwarf Fiery Bulblax will slowly walk back and forth, slowly burning down any wood it's standing on. If it spots Olimar or Pikmin, it will charge them leaving behind a trail of fire. If it is being attacked, fiery projectiles will fly off its back.

Locations[edit]

Strategy[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

Defeating a Dwarf Fiery Bulblax is a relatively simple ordeal. Throwing at least a handful of Red Pikmin will dispatch the creature fairly quickly. However, while it is moving, it will leave behind a trail of fire. Despite only being able to eat 2 Pikmin at a time, the speed at which it eats lends it the powerful ability to decimate groups of Pikmin. It's recommended to simply stand a decent distance away from it, facing its front side, and use Red Pikmin. Carefully however, as throwing any other type of Pikmin will result in them burning and not doing any damage, no matter where they land.

Notes

Hey! Pikmin logs

This creature's back is perpetually burning, so it leaves a trail of fire wherever it goes. I wonder how those bulging eyes keep from getting cooked sunny-side up. Now that's a matter worth researching.

Naming[edit]

The following article or section needs help from someone who can translate Japanese text.

See more: Breadbug family#Naming and Grub-dog family#Naming.
  • Common name: Fiery Dwarf Bulblax. Like Bulborb mimics, this enemy is called a dwarf because it is a smaller version of the Fiery Bulblax. This is the only Bulblax mimic known to exist. Strangely, its name implies it is a firey version of a "Dwarf Bulblax" an enemy never seen in the series.
  • Japanese nickname: ヤキコチャッピー?, lit.: "Sizzling Small Chappy".
  • Japanese name: ヒノデメオボコマダラ?.
  • Scientific name: Oculus volcanus parvusii. Volcanus is a play off of "volcano", alluding to its fiery exterior. This is also part of the species name for the Fireflap Bulborb, as well as the genus name for the Fiery Young Yellow Wollywog. Parvusii is similar to "parvus", the Latin word for small. It is very similar to Oculus vulcanus, the scientific name of the Fiery Bulblax, with volcanus being one letter off from vulcanus. Interestingly, despite having the genus Oculus, it is not in the grub-dog family. This is likely a mistake, as this is invalid in real-world taxonomy.
  • Internal names: Its internal name is yakichappy. Its generator name is enemy_ignite_macky, suggesting it was originally intended to be a species of mockiwi.
  • Prerelease: None.
