* We'd need to decide what types of Bulborbs are included for this poll. Just regular-size Bulborbs, or dwarf-size Bulborbs too? What about Bulblaxes? — Soprano(talk) 00:14, February 1, 2024 (EST)

** I think anything that can be classified as a Bulborb to at least some people should be made an option, to encompass all opinions. This then brings the conundrum of lack of space, but perhaps we could combine similar options into singular entries. Maybe this would be a good list (just a prototype, as it could very likely use some edits):
*** Albino Dwarf/Dwarf/Red/Jumbo Bulborb
*** Hairy Bulborb
*** Dwarf Orange/Orange Bulborb
*** Whiptongue Bulborb
*** Bulborb Larva
*** Dwarf Bulbear/Spotty Bulbear
*** Dwarf Frosty/Frosty Bulborb
*** Empress Bulblax
*** Emperor/Sovereign Bulblax
*** Fiery Dwarf/Fiery Bulblax
*** Snow Bulborb (maybe this can be combined with the first entry due to its lack of almost any unique qualities)
*** Moldy Dwarf Bulborb
:: Like, this is pretty comprehensive, and is relatively concise (still pretty massive). I'm sure it's flawed, but it's probably a good starting point for what to include in the poll? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 16:48, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
*** I don't like the idea of combining multiple Bulborb types into the same option. People could have pretty different opinions of the Dwarf Orange Bulborb and Orange Bulborb, for example. I think for this question to work we have to limit its scope. If it only included grub-dogs of around the same size as the basic Bulborb, it would include the (Red) Bulborb, Fiery Bulblax, Frosty Bulborb, Hairy Bulborb, Orange Bulborb, Spotty Bulbear, and Whiptongue Bulborb. I think this is a reasonable number of options. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
**** I agree; that's a sensible and comfortable number of options, and I think those fit best for the criteria of what an option should be for this poll. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
***** The other thing that needs to be decided is what order to put the options in. Should they be in alphabetical order, or the order they were introduced to the series? And should the basic Bulborb be called "Bulborb" or "Red Bulborb"? — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
****** I think introduction order is best, but that has a key flaw; Pikmin 2 is nonlinear, so you could encounter either the Fiery Bulblax, Hairy Bulborb, or Orange Bulborb first - well, no, not necessarily; let me think. In Pikmin 2, Orange Bulborbs are only found in caves that require Yellow Pikmin to access (or are in Wistful Wild), with the exception of the Snagret Hole, but that requires Blue Pikmin or the use of glitches. Blue Pikmin are behind an electric gate, so Snagret Hole therefore cannot be reached without Yellow Pikmin, or glitches, but I think it's safe to say the vast majority of people won't be using glitches on their first playthrough (we'd be looking at first playthroughs because that's when people would encounter them first, just for complete clarification). Then there's the issue of the Wistful Wild; they can be found there, and in two of the area's caves. I'm not sure if the debt can be paid off without using Yellows or Blues (and without using enemy corpses), but I'm fairly sure it can't be, as the vast, vast majority of the Perplexing Pool would be inaccessible, the non-tutorial part of the Valley of Repose would be inaccessible, and a fair amount of the Awakening Wood wouldn't be accessible (this is just my thoughts from some quick research and my memory, so I'm not 100% sure it's correct), which restricts the player from getting quite a lot of Pokos. Why do Yellow Pikmin matter here, you ask (you probably already know, you're the second-in-command on the most comprehensive Pikmin internet database to ever exist) - the Fiery Bulblax has to be fought (or at least seen, maybe there's a way to get past it without killing it but I don't recall that being possible sans-glitches) for Yellow Pikmin to be discovered, and Yellow Pikmin have to be discovered for Orange Bulborbs to be encountered (unless the player goes out of their way to grind enemies for hours so they can repay the debt). So it's essentially undeniable that the Fiery Bulblax will be found before the Orange Bulborb would be, as well as the Hairy Bulborb, as it is in caves that require Blues (or are in the Wistful Wild). So we can be certain that Fiery Bulblaxes are the first-encountered new-introduced Bulborb in Pikmin 2. As for what goes next, it's not certain the player will encounter either one first, but Hairy Bulborbs require Yellows and Blues to be discovered, but Orange Bulborbs only require Yellows to be discovered (again, they can both be found in Wistful Wild, but this is much less likely and shouldn't really be taken into consideration), so I think Orange Bulborbs should go first. In summary: I believe the order should be (Red) Bulborb, Spotty Bulbear, Fiery Bulblax, Orange Bulborb, Hairy Bulborb, Whiptongue Bulborb, and Frosty Bulborb.
As for whether or not we should call it the "Red Bulborb" or the "Bulborb"... hmm. Both sides have good reasons for themselves; they are called Bulborbs in the most recent entry in the series, but just calling them Bulborbs would make them a tad less distinct from the other entries, which *could maybe* cause a bit of confusion. I don't know; I think the vast majority of people would know what we mean if we just say "Bulborb", especially since it's been officially called that for the last eleven years, and it's likely that those who've played the games where it wasn't called that would know the difference. "Red Bulborb" offers complete and utter eradication of any chance of misinterpretation, but "Bulborb" is more official and still makes perfect sense.
Additionally, maybe there can be an "Other" option, just so the people who'd prefer types that are left out can have something to pick? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:40, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
******* Alternatively, we could just use Piklopedia order, which would put the Pikmin 2 types in the order Hairy Bulborb, Orange Bulborb, and Fiery Bulblax. I also agree that using "Bulborb" instead of "Red Bulborb" is a better idea. I don't think there should be an "Other" option because it's better to limit the poll to just a few comparable types. Between the introduction order and the alphabetical order, I think the alphabetical order looks slightly better, but that's just my opinion. — Soprano(talk) 19:19, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
******** It seems to come down to subjectivity; I think it's nice that both start with "Bulborb" at the top, but I generally think in a linear manner, so having one introduced in 4 with two 2 ones on the side is less favourable to me. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 20:22, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
* Some people have mentioned the idea of changing this question to be about which type they'd rather have as a pet. That would work as a poll, but the original question would also work as a poll. So should this be split into 2 poll ideas? — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
** Don't you think they'd be a bit too similar? I feel like they'd be mutually exclusive, no? Or at least require over a year before the other is used.
I personally think that, if one is used, it should be the one about which is preferred as a pet; I feel like that has the most personality, and is kind of quirky which is a nice trait most polls don't have. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:40, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
*** They would have to be asked a while apart. Considering some of the people who've supported this idea have specifically mentioned the pet rewording, I've changed the wording of this question from "What is your favorite Bulborb type?" to "Which Bulborb type would you rather have as a pet?". Another Bulborb poll can be proposed in the future as a separate poll idea. — Soprano(talk) 19:19, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

** Why wouldn't it be possible to ask? Perhaps it can be rephrased to make it more subjective-sounding; that might work better. If it were to say "How many areas do you prefer in a Pikmin game?" that could offer a nice way for participants to state how dense they prefer areas to be. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 16:58, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
*** Pikmin 4 recontextualizes the question quite a bit. But I guess it would still be possible to ask. I don't think that wording would be an improvement; the idea behind the original wording is for people to imagine what their ideal Pikmin game would be like and how many areas it would have. It could potentially be changed though. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

*** I mean, what does the first sentence really add? If anything, it just makes the topic a bit harder to understand, considering its wordiness. I think "What do you think about enemy variants?" with the example in parentheses that Espyo wrote is perfectly fine (perhaps it can say Bulborb variants instead, as Bulborbs appear with variants in more games than Dweevils do, so less-dedicated fans would know more about their variants; the only way someone would not know what this is asking is if they've only played Pikmin, which is unlikely because most newer fans play newer games). It perfectly explains what it's asking, and essentially just converts the first sentence into a more concise example. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 17:28, October 5, 2024 (EDT)

* This isn't a bad poll, but I think it's a bit awkward or could be rephrased. I'm more supportive of this because I do think it can be an interesting topic; someone over on the Pikmin Fandom who I was good friends with when I was there (and still am friends with) had fairly strong opinions against enemy variants so I think it could be an interesting topic to have a poll on. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 17:28, October 5, 2024 (EDT)

** It's definitely not bad; most of these enemies can be pretty irritating. I do think the Dessicated Skitter Leaf is only a big pain in deathless runs, but its camouflage definitely justifies it here regardless of the playthrough type. Why is the Flighty Joustmite on here, though? I've heard maybe one or two content creators voice their distaste for it, but to me it's literally just a Joustmite with wings, but arguably easier due to its incapacitation when its proboscis gets stuck in the ground; wait for that to happen and throw some Pikmin at its backside, the end. That placement makes very little sense to me.
On the topic of adding more, do you think it'd be fair to add the Mysterious Life Form? The fact that it gives chase can make it kind of pesky (though I suppose it's possible any annoyance it might bring is overshadowed by the terror it can cause). How about Phosbat Pods? I don't personally have any issues with them, but maybe their repetitive enemy spawning might be thought of that way... eh, on second thought, probably not. I'd say the Puffy Blowhog can be kind of irritating, but it's not nearly as bad as it is in the first game, so I don't think it needs to be on there. The last two I might think about considering are the Swooping Snitchbug (though, like the Puffy Blowhog, it's much worse in 1 due to its ability to wander) and the Waddlepus, as they both can disjoint your squad a bit, but otherwise, I think the list is fine. That was just me going through the list of all enemies in that game to check for possibilities; do you have anything to say on those? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:37, October 5, 2024 (EDT)

* I think this poll runs into the issue of too many possible options, as in my opinion as Pikmin 3's enemy cast is filled with annoying foes. From ones that are hard to hit, to ones with utterly unfairly fast shake-offs, there's a lot to go around. Some ones that I'd nominate are the Waddlepus, Puffy Blowhog, Water Dumple, Medusal Slurker, and Toady Bloyster, and if all those are included, the number of options inflates drastically. There's also the issue of this being a very subjective topic; one that I don't think really works with Pikipedia's poll format. -Gulliblepikmin 19:28, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
** That's fair, it is quite subjective. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 23:20, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
** Yeah; I can see how this question doesn't really work as a poll. It's more suited for a discussion. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

# (Nominator:) Bosses are an integral part of every main-series Pikmin game, and there have been polls asking one's favourite boss for other games in the series, so I found it surprising that there hasn't been one on this entry. Pikmin has a fairly diverse selection of bosses, as well as an amount of them that isn't unprecedented for a poll, so I don't see why this question shouldn't be asked. There isn't too much more to this; I'm quite frankly surprised it hasn't been suggested earlier, unless there's some big flaw I'm failing to acknowledge. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 00:13, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

* This is my first poll suggestion; how might we go about sorting the options? I know it's not too big of a deal, but I listed them here alphabetically. I was going to list them in the order they might be encountered, but quickly realised that isn't constant through all playthroughs, so I think an alphabetical listing is optimal, but I'd like to hear other means of/the standards for listing the options if anyone has anything to say! Deeb1324354657 (talk) 00:13, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
** An alphabetical list is probably the best way when there isn't an official order. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
* The problem with this question is that there isn't a single definition of what counts as a boss in Pikmin. Different people count different enemies as bosses, so someone looking at the poll could wonder why an enemy they consider to be a boss isn't an option, and someone else could wonder why an enemy they don't consider to be a boss is an option. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
** I just used the list in :Category:Pikmin 1 bosses, but I see how that might be a bit confusing. Looking at the list of enemies right now, here are my thoughts on the ones not listed as bosses:
*** Breadbug: Maybe someone could call this a boss, but I've always just thought of it as a rare enemy. There's only one, but it hardly poses a threat to Pikmin; I doubt many people would think this is one, especially if they know the series well.
*** Bulborb/Fiery Blowhog/Puffy Blowhog/Spotty Bulbear/Water Dumple/Wollyhop/Yellow Wollyhop: All of these enemies are the beefier, tougher ones out of the game's selection, but there are multiple of them wherever they appear, so I'd find it hard to mistake any of them for a boss.
*** Dwarf Bulbear/Dwarf Bulbear/Male Sheargrub/Shearwig: These all have strength in numbers, but definitely couldn't be thought of as bosses due to their small size.
*** Female Sheargrub/Honeywisp/Iridescent Flint Beetle/Wolpole: All of these are harmless or actively serve to help the player, need I say more?
*** Swooping Snitchbug: These are really just nuisances and hardly pose a threat in terms of Pikmin casualties.
*** Pearly Clamclamp: This is really the only one that I could see being thought of as a boss. Aside from the Goolix and Mamuta, it's the only enemy in The Impact Site, and can be fairly threatening. However, there are multiple, so I've never really thought of it as one.
:: Of course, criteria for what people think of as bosses differs from person to person, but I think a general thing is a more difficult enemy that is used sparingly by the devs and always serves to impede the player from reaching what they protect. The Breadbug, a Puffy Blowhog, and a Pearly Clamclamp drop a ship part, but the latter two aren't the only ones of their kind that appear in their areas, and also either can't directly harm Pikmin or can't harm them unless they're directly attacked, which isn't incredibly threatening like a boss should be. This leaves the Breadbug, which I have never lost a single Pikmin to, and even in the instance where Pikmin are in danger of being lost to it, they can be very easily recovered as the Breadbug is dragging whatever they're carrying to its hole. That's the only entry I think could really be perceived as a boss, but its page here considers it an enemy, as does the majority of the community, to my knowledge. I know that list was not necessary, but I just wanted to comprehensively address the possibility of there being confusion. This obviously won't change anything about the actions of the participants of the poll, but does it make it a bit more acceptable for use?
I just realised that the Mamuta might not be collectively thought of as a boss, however, which might cause confusion. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

# (Nominator:) I think it might be nice to see how dedicated your average fan of the series is, in terms of how many games they've sought the entirety of (entirety of the main story, at least). Of course, this wouldn't be the most spectacular or ingenious poll ever, but I don't think it's necessarily bad; perhaps it could work in a poll-drought situation similar to the ones we've been dealing with as of late. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 00:36, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

* My original title for this was "How many main-series Pikmin games have you played?", but I changed the last word to "beaten" for more clarity; it could cause confusion on what is meant by "played" in this context; does playing a few Bingo Battle matches at a friend's house count, or does completing the game count? Ultimately, I meant the latter, so I altered the title to this. Maybe another poll can be made such as "How many main-series Pikmin games do you own?", but I doubt that'd be too interesting, or at least not as interesting as this one, and would very likely be mutually exclusive with it. This comment is very much just an evolution of my ideas that no one really needs to see, but if anyone has any suggestions for a possible title change, I'd like to hear them! Deeb1324354657 (talk) 00:36, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

**** Good point, those could be a bit confusing. I think those look great, but could we do "All four of them" for the final option? I feel like just "Four of them" makes it seem like there's more than four, or something like that. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:47, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

For polls that have been approved and asked, see Pikipedia:Poll/archived ideas and Pikipedia:Poll/older polls.
For rejected poll ideas, see Pikipedia:Poll/archived rejected ideas.

This page is where users suggest their ideas for polls, as well as comment on other poll ideas or vote on whether they like them or not. These decisions are for what polls should be asked on the wiki, not for what poll will be next. New poll ideas should start out in the "Ideas that need work" section, and once it's clear that the poll doesn't have problems and is ready to be asked, a staff member can move it to the "Ready ideas" section. Note that staff members selecting the next poll can choose ideas from either section.

When voting or commenting, please remember to sign with ~~~~. To add your own idea, copy what's inside this box, edit the page, paste it at the end, and replace the placeholder bits:

• Depending on how this poll is received, polls for the other games could be submitted as well. (With any changes, of course) Burrhead2 (talk) 14:11, April 30, 2022 (EDT)
• Is this referring to the first game, or to the whole series? If the former, then there's a similar idea above. Maybe they could both be merged? — {EspyoT} 11:07, May 21, 2022 (EDT)
• First game. That's the issue with having a series and game with the same name. I'm not too sure about the merge, though. The questions are somewhat similar, but I feel they're still somewhat different. Burrhead2 (talk) 19:33, June 18, 2022 (EDT)
• I've reworded the poll to have "Pikmin 1" instead now that that name is acceptable. That said, the poll is very similar to the time limit one, so it should wait a while before being asked. — Soprano(talk) 00:14, February 1, 2024 (EST)

• Hm, I'm not too sure about these options. Three of them are pretty much the same option. I like the idea of choosing between something like multiplayer and content sharing, but the more I think about it, the more I don't think this will work well. Everyone will want to be able to play real-time multiplayer. Something like custom stage sharing implies custom stage creation, which is an entire can of worms in and of itself. — {EspyoT} 11:51, August 9, 2021 (EDT)

• I'll note that I only supported this poll idea after I got interested in glitches in the series, which shows that it's a bit of a weird question to ask to people who haven't really thought about glitches much. — Soprano(talk) 01:28, September 16, 2022 (EDT)
• It's a good idea for a post on Reddit or a Youtube video where you can freely comment, but for a poll where you can't elaborate, it's not that good of an idea. Mama09001 (talk) 15:19, October 7, 2024 (EDT)

1. (Nominator:) Since we did Pikmin types, why not do Bulborbs? We dont have any polls around enemies (that I know of), so this can be cool and unique. The Bulborb is also as recognizable as the Pikmin themselves, and are part of the biggest family in the series (grub-dog). This also includes Bulblaxes and Bulbears, but we can get rid of them if there are too many options. I also think Bulborb Larvae are too similar to Dwarf Bulborbs (same with Dwarf Bulbears) even though they're technically grub-dogs. — CrazyCow October 1, 2019

• I wonder if we could tweak the question a bit to be what the user thinks is the cutest, or which they would rather have as a pet. — {EspyoT} 18:07, October 2, 2019 (EDT)
• Yeah, I like the pet idea. — CrazyCow October 13, 2019
• I also like it; a "Which Bulborb type would you rather have as a pet?" question is a fun and quirky question that would get people to think. — Soprano(talk) 22:55, December 13, 2021 (EST)
• Not much opportunity for discussion on this one other than "it look cute :)". Maybe if it was something like "which bulborb is the hardest to combat", and the list was shortened to only the more difficult ones. — Bossclips(talk) 13:14, November 30, 2020 (EST)
• Maybe we could ask the question of which one is hardest/most annoying to fight, since I think players would have something to say about that. Midnight blue (talk) 18:45, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
• That might not be very interesting, since the bosses would obviously win. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)
• We'd need to decide what types of Bulborbs are included for this poll. Just regular-size Bulborbs, or dwarf-size Bulborbs too? What about Bulblaxes? — Soprano(talk) 00:14, February 1, 2024 (EST)
• I think anything that can be classified as a Bulborb to at least some people should be made an option, to encompass all opinions. This then brings the conundrum of lack of space, but perhaps we could combine similar options into singular entries. Maybe this would be a good list (just a prototype, as it could very likely use some edits):
• Albino Dwarf/Dwarf/Red/Jumbo Bulborb
• Hairy Bulborb
• Dwarf Orange/Orange Bulborb
• Whiptongue Bulborb
• Bulborb Larva
• Dwarf Bulbear/Spotty Bulbear
• Dwarf Frosty/Frosty Bulborb
• Empress Bulblax
• Emperor/Sovereign Bulblax
• Fiery Dwarf/Fiery Bulblax
• Snow Bulborb (maybe this can be combined with the first entry due to its lack of almost any unique qualities)
• Moldy Dwarf Bulborb
Like, this is pretty comprehensive, and is relatively concise (still pretty massive). I'm sure it's flawed, but it's probably a good starting point for what to include in the poll? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 16:48, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
• I don't like the idea of combining multiple Bulborb types into the same option.
• I agree; that's a sensible and comfortable number of options, and I think those fit best for the criteria of what an option should be for this poll. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• The other thing that needs to be decided is what order to put the options in. Should they be in alphabetical order, or the order they were introduced to the series? And should the basic Bulborb be called "Bulborb" or "Red Bulborb"? — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I think introduction order is best, but that has a key flaw; Pikmin 2 is nonlinear, so you could encounter either the Fiery Bulblax, Hairy Bulborb, or Orange Bulborb first - well, no, not necessarily; let me think.
• Alternatively, we could just use Piklopedia order, which would put the Pikmin 2 types in the order Hairy Bulborb, Orange Bulborb, and Fiery Bulblax.
• It seems to come down to subjectivity; I think it's nice that both start with "Bulborb" at the top, but I generally think in a linear manner, so having one introduced in 4 with two 2 ones on the side is less favourable to me. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 20:22, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• Some people have mentioned the idea of changing this question to be about which type they'd rather have as a pet. That would work as a poll, but the original question would also work as a poll. So should this be split into 2 poll ideas? — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• Don't you think they'd be a bit too similar? I feel like they'd be mutually exclusive, no? Or at least require over a year before the other is used.
I personally think that, if one is used, it should be the one about which is preferred as a pet; I feel like that has the most personality, and is kind of quirky which is a nice trait most polls don't have. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:40, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• They would have to be asked a while apart.

What would the optimal number of areas in a Pikmin game be?[edit]

• 1 big area
• 2 to 3
• 4 to 5
• 6 to 8
• More than 8

Support[edit]

1. (Nominator:) Another fanon-style poll, asking about the number of areas in the ideal Pikmin game. It could also be phrased as "If you were designing a Pikmin game, how many areas would it have?" It may leave out a lot of nuance (such as area size), and it may have a lot of options (edit: I reduced the number of options), but it could still be a good poll. — Soprano(talk) 04:28, June 21, 2021 (EDT)
2. It's better now with the condensed options. Sure, why not? — {EspyoT} 11:37, June 27, 2021 (EDT)
3. I support this, it's a fairly creative question and I can't see any reason not to use it. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 16:58, October 5, 2024 (EDT)

• Hm, seems like a fine poll to use when there aren't better ones to pick from. I won't add my support directly, but I'm certainly not opposed. — {EspyoT} 15:33, June 22, 2021 (EDT)
• Now that Pikmin 4 has come out with 6 main areas, is this question still possible to ask? — Soprano(talk) 21:56, August 25, 2023 (EDT)
• Why wouldn't it be possible to ask? Perhaps it can be rephrased to make it more subjective-sounding; that might work better. If it were to say "How many areas do you prefer in a Pikmin game?" that could offer a nice way for participants to state how dense they prefer areas to be. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 16:58, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
• Pikmin 4 recontextualizes the question quite a bit.
• Ah, I see. I mean, as someone who came to this wiki a year after the release of Pikmin 4, I don't personally think that it can't be asked anymore, but I agree that it's recontextualised. What do you think the remaining issues needing fixing are with this poll idea for it to be moved to Ready polls? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I don't think there are significant issues, I was just leaving open the possibility of rewording it later so that people could still suggest ideas if they had any. — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• Ah. When do you think it would be appropriate to deem this ready? Sorry, just curious about how these systems work. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:47, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• There isn't a set time to move poll ideas to the ready section; it's done whenever a staff member thinks a poll idea is ready to ask. — Soprano(talk) 19:19, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

What do you think about enemy variants, such as the multiple types of Bulborbs and Dweevils?[edit]

• I think the existing games have a good amount of enemy variants.
• I think there should be less variants of enemies.
• I think enemy variants should be implemented differently.

• Might be okay for a more "bottom of the barrel" poll. Maybe the first sentence of the question can be removed, though. Or maybe like "What do you think about enemy variants? (e.g. all the Dweevil recolors)" — {EspyoT} 13:06, August 26, 2021 (EDT)
• I think the context is necessary, perhaps to help people who aren't as familiar with the games. — Soprano(talk) 00:14, February 1, 2024 (EST)
• I mean, what does the first sentence really add?
• How about rewording it to "What do you think about enemy variants, such as the multiple types of Bulborbs and Dweevils?" — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I think that sounds good; it's not too long and completely eradicates any chance of a misinterpretation. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• This isn't a bad poll, but I think it's a bit awkward or could be rephrased.
• The question has now been changed from "There are a few groups of enemies which are all variants of each other, such as Bulborbs, Spectralids, and Dweevils. What are your thoughts on there being multiple variants of enemies?" to "What do you think about enemy variants, such as the multiple types of Bulborbs and Dweevils?". — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

• We currently have a poll nominee asking about control schemes specific to Deluxe, so would this question be redundant? —Midnight blue (talk) 19:16, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
• I was thinking more in general, because, for Pikmin and Pikmin 2, some people prefer the standard button and stick controls, and some people refer the Wii remote's pointer. I figured this question to be across the whole series, so I guess it is kinda redundant in the area of P3DX, but maybe some people's opinions differ between games? Or maybe this question should be split off to ask whether they prefer the control types for each game. Burrhead2 (talk) 19:33, August 28, 2021 (EDT)
• I think this question can still work, but it should be rewritten. Instead of saying "Do you prefer button or pointer controls?" (which is ambiguous), it should say "Do you prefer to control the cursor with motion controls or the analog stick?" There should also only be 2 options, because otherwise a lot of people would pick the neutral option. — Soprano(talk) 04:45, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
• Works for me. Burrhead2 (talk) 15:36, August 29, 2021 (EDT)
• Agreed with the non-ambiguous approach. — {EspyoT} 12:04, September 5, 2021 (EDT)

• Puckering Blinnow
• Skeeterskate
• Swarming Sheargrub
• Other

Support[edit]

1. (Nominator:) This is more of a fun and silly poll. There are a bunch of enemies in the Pikmin series that are often considered annoying by players, and it could be interesting to have a poll on which one people find the most annoying. The options I picked are enemies commonly noted as particularly annoying. Similar polls could work for other games, though I limited this one to Pikmin 3 to avoid cross-game comparisons. — Soprano(talk) 05:39, June 18, 2022 (EDT)

• Is the enemy selection for this poll good? — Soprano(talk) 00:14, February 1, 2024 (EST)
• It's definitely not bad; most of these enemies can be pretty irritating.
• I think this poll runs into the issue of too many possible options, as in my opinion as Pikmin 3's enemy cast is filled with annoying foes.
• That's fair, it is quite subjective. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 23:20, October 5, 2024 (EDT)
• Yeah; I can see how this question doesn't really work as a poll. It's more suited for a discussion. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)

Which is the best-designed hazard?[edit]

• Fire
• Water
• Electricity
• Poison
• Ice

Support[edit]

1. (Nominator:) A simple poll to see which of the four basic hazards people like the most. The additional hazards of crushing, stabbing, and explosions could potentially be added to the list of options, though I think it would be better with just 4. — Soprano(talk) 16:46, November 24, 2022 (EST)
2. As per the reply to my opposition, if this poll is about hazards from a game design perspective, I think this could be quite interesting. But it might need to be renamed to specify this. I also am absolutely not opposed to having more options. I guess I've been nudged over the fence and a bit into "support" territory. -Burrhead2 (talk) 11:24, November 30, 2022 (EST)

Oppose[edit]

1. Does one have a favorite hazard? If so it would be the least annoying one, cause the least favorite hazard would go right to the insta-kill one (Electricity). --PastelP (talk) 15:03, November 25, 2022 (EST)
2. This one feels kind of... iffy. I'm not sure how one could really have a favorite hazard - I mean, they're all bad, right? People would just gravitate towards whatever does the least damage and/or is the easiest to avoid. Fire, water, and poison are also more-or-less the same thing. Unless this poll is about people's favorite ways to kill Pikmin. And that's simultaneously fantastic, and something that would probably never happen. I'm open to changing my mind, but for right now I'll stick (rather lightly) to this corner. -Burrhead2 (talk) 20:04, November 29, 2022 (EST)
• I was originally going to word this as "Which is the best hazard", to make it clear that the question is about game design, but poll ideas in the past that have featured "the best" have often had that replaced with "your favorite" because it makes it clearer that the poll is subjective. But considering these reactions, I think that using "the best" would result in a more useful poll. Do you think it would be better if it was reworded in that way? — Soprano(talk) 21:59, November 29, 2022 (EST)
3. Which game is this about? Becuse in my opinion, Pikmin 2's electricity is the worst hazard, but 3's electricity is almost too genius, so it's hard to vote. Mama09001 (talk) 02:43, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
• You've got a great point, it would definitely be necessary to mention which game to put this in. I think 2, 3, or 4 could work, preferably 4 because electricity is at its most balanced. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 22:50, July 31, 2024 (EDT)
• I agree that this poll would be better if it was about a specific game, but I'm not sure Pikmin 4 would be the best game to choose because it's the game where electricity is the most similar to the other hazards. I think Pikmin 2's main 4 hazards would be good for a poll. — Soprano(talk) 05:25, September 30, 2024 (EDT)

• I think the number of choices is fine. But if it had to be split, it could be only bosses that were introduced in Pikmin 2, or only bosses that appear in Pikmin 1 and 2. ~ Contributions Cheepy (talk)
• Perhaps, but those are pretty arbitrary ways to split it... I don't think there's any way that a split could be done in a non-arbitrary way. — Soprano(talk) 15:31, November 25, 2022 (EST)
• The poll could be split up into bosses per area (but the Empress Bulblax kinda messes that up a bit), and there could be some sort of mystical fifth poll with the winners of the other four, to find out which is the best... or maybe not. I don't know.
But I'm calling it right now, if this poll makes it, the winner's gonna be the Waterwraith. -Burrhead2 (talk) 19:51, November 29, 2022 (EST)
• A tournament-style poll series could be quite an interesting idea. To avoid having it take nearly a year, each poll could be 2 weeks long, with 3 or 4 initial rounds and one final round. But the grouping of bosses into initial rounds would be quite arbitrary and it would affect the outcome significantly. I'm not sure if there's a good way to do this. — Soprano(talk) 21:59, November 29, 2022 (EST)
• Here's a proposal: there would be 4 polls, each 2 weeks long (or 1 month long if we wanted this to last for 2 poll periods). The first would be between the Empress Bulblax, Burrowing Snagret, Beady Long Legs, and Emperor Bulblax. The second would be between the Giant Breadbug, Pileated Snagret, Man-at-Legs, and Ranging Bloyster. The third would be between the Waterwraith, Segmented Crawbster, Raging Long Legs, and Titan Dweevil. The fourth would be between the winner of each of the previous 3 polls. Would this work? — Soprano(talk) 05:25, September 30, 2024 (EDT)

• Pikmin 2 (GameCube)
• New Play Control! Pikmin 2 (Wii)

1. (Nominator:) This exact question has been asked before, in late 2018. However, I think it's worth asking it again, as Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Pikmin Bloom have been more popular than previous games and so may change the poll results significantly. Ideally this question would be asked before the release of Pikmin 4, though we could also ask it a few months after that game's release. — Soprano(talk) 22:37, December 2, 2022 (EST)

When do you consider Pikmin 2 beaten, rather than completed?[edit]

• When I repay the debt/see the credits
• When I beat the final boss
• When I collect all the treasures

Support[edit]

1. (Nominator:) I've wondered what other people's opinions on this question are, so a Pikipedia poll is a great place to ask. Considering that the game's credits play not far into it, probably means that by the strictest definition, the Wistful Wild is post-game content, and some people may see it that way. • Would this be too much of a spoiler for the Main Page? — Soprano(talk) 01:27, December 22, 2022 (EST)
• The most this spoils is the location of the credits. If you know anything about Pikmin 2, you'll know that there's a debt, and if you play long enough, you'll find that you won't be able to do everything before repaying the debt. And most games have a final boss. Burrhead2 (talk) 09:13, December 22, 2022 (EST)
• This poll might be able to be renamed to something like "when are you satisfied by completing Pikmin 2?" or something. — {EspyoT} 16:17, January 2, 2023 (EST)

What flower did you get in the Pikmin Bloom Flower Personality Quiz?[edit]

• Cherry blossom

1. (Nominator:) This would be quite a meta poll, using a set of questions on an external website to inform a question on this website. An article about the Pikmin Bloom Flower Personality Quiz was recently created, and it would be interesting to see the results people get. However, it would considerably increase the effort required to participate in the poll, and I'm not sure how we'd link to the quiz website in Template:Poll. — Soprano(talk) 02:15, January 13, 2023 (EST)

Asking any multiple choice question with blowhogs (family) is a bad idea, becuce there's some types that does/doesn't count for various Reasons, like the Blowhog (species) only being in Pikmin adventure and not blowing something, the Telescoping Pumphog not having "blowhog" in their name, and the Tusked Blowhog not being in the Blowhog family. 1. (Nominator:) Bosses are an integral part of every main-series Pikmin game, and there have been polls asking one's favourite boss for other games in the series, so I found it surprising that there hasn't been one on this entry. • This is my first poll suggestion; how might we go about sorting the options? I know it's not too big of a deal, but I listed them here alphabetically. I was going to list them in the order they might be encountered, but quickly realised that isn't constant through all playthroughs, so I think an alphabetical listing is optimal, but I'd like to hear other means of/the standards for listing the options if anyone has anything to say! Deeb1324354657 (talk) 00:13, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• An alphabetical list is probably the best way when there isn't an official order. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• The problem with this question is that there isn't a single definition of what counts as a boss in Pikmin. Different people count different enemies as bosses, so someone looking at the poll could wonder why an enemy they consider to be a boss isn't an option, and someone else could wonder why an enemy they don't consider to be a boss is an option. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I just used the list in Category:Pikmin 1 bosses, but I see how that might be a bit confusing. Looking at the list of enemies right now, here are my thoughts on the ones not listed as bosses:
• Breadbug: Maybe someone could call this a boss, but I've always just thought of it as a rare enemy. There's only one, but it hardly poses a threat to Pikmin; I doubt many people would think this is one, especially if they know the series well.
• Bulborb/Fiery Blowhog/Puffy Blowhog/Spotty Bulbear/Water Dumple/Wollyhop/Yellow Wollyhop: All of these enemies are the beefier, tougher ones out of the game's selection, but there are multiple of them wherever they appear, so I'd find it hard to mistake any of them for a boss.
• Dwarf Bulbear/Dwarf Bulbear/Male Sheargrub/Shearwig: These all have strength in numbers, but definitely couldn't be thought of as bosses due to their small size.
• Female Sheargrub/Honeywisp/Iridescent Flint Beetle/Wolpole: All of these are harmless or actively serve to help the player, need I say more?
• Swooping Snitchbug: These are really just nuisances and hardly pose a threat in terms of Pikmin casualties.
• Pearly Clamclamp: This is really the only one that I could see being thought of as a boss. Aside from the Goolix and Mamuta, it's the only enemy in The Impact Site, and can be fairly threatening. However, there are multiple, so I've never really thought of it as one.
Of course, criteria for what people think of as bosses differs from person to person, but I think a general thing is a more difficult enemy that is used sparingly by the devs and always serves to impede the player from reaching what they protect.

How many main-series Pikmin games have you beaten?[edit]

• One of them
• Two of them
• Three of them
• All four of them

Support[edit]

1. (Nominator:) I think it might be nice to see how dedicated your average fan of the series is, in terms of how many games they've sought the entirety of (entirety of the main story, at least). Of course, this wouldn't be the most spectacular or ingenious poll ever, but I don't think it's necessarily bad; perhaps it could work in a poll-drought situation similar to the ones we've been dealing with as of late. Comments[edit]

• My original title for this was "How many main-series Pikmin games have you played?", but I changed the last word to "beaten" for more clarity; it could cause confusion on what is meant by "played" in this context; does playing a few Bingo Battle matches at a friend's house count, or does completing the game count? Ultimately, I meant the latter, so I altered the title to this. Maybe another poll can be made such as "How many main-series Pikmin games do you own?", but I doubt that'd be too interesting, or at least not as interesting as this one, and would very likely be mutually exclusive with it. This comment is very much just an evolution of my ideas that no one really needs to see, but if anyone has any suggestions for a possible title change, I'd like to hear them! • I'm not sure about the wording of the options. — Soprano(talk) 01:27, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I didn't put that much thought into them, so that's understandable; what do you think should be fixed? Deeb1324354657 (talk) 11:44, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I think all options should be in the same format, and they shouldn't be able to be confused with the names of games. Would "One of them", "Two of them", "Three of them", and "Four of them" be good wordings? — Soprano(talk) 17:16, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• Good point, those could be a bit confusing. I think those look great, but could we do "All four of them" for the final option? I feel like just "Four of them" makes it seem like there's more than four, or something like that. Deeb1324354657 (talk) 18:47, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
• I considered that but wasn't sure about it, so since you've suggested the same thing, I'll implement it. I've changed the options now (they were previously "Just one", "Two", "Three", and "All of them"). — Soprano(talk) 19:19, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
