The Widemouthed Anode Beetle (オオグチエレキムシ?, lit.: "Big Mouthed Electric Bug") is an electric ladybug-like enemy found in Hey! Pikmin. It resembles the Anode Beetle, but has a redder underside, red beady eyes, and a large jaw with two fangs it uses to eat Pikmin.

Behavior[edit]

The Widemouthed Anode Beetle patrols a set path in dimly-lit areas, where it casts a field of light. If Pikmin walk into this light, it will charge them and attempt to eat them.

Strategy[edit]

Widemouthed Anode Beetles can be defeated by continually throwing Pikmin at them until they flip over, which leaves them completely vulnerable to attack, much like the standard Anode Beetle.

This pesky creature loves to generate its own electricity. It prefers solitude, and becomes aggressive if provoked. It really couldn't be more different from me, could it? Part of me wishes I could assert myself as strongly as this terrifying monster does.
