Am I the only one here to notice how similar the Jellyfloat's appearance is to the Puffstool's? I'd be surprised if nobody's mentioned this yet. O.O -So sayeth LE the Creator. 20:11, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

In the Shower Room the first time I saw the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat I saw it from far away and thought it was some kind of new, ghost Puffstool (its those antennas) I was relieved when I found out it was just an easy enemy that didn't turn Pikmin evil :) <span style="color:blue">Portal-</span><span style="color:orange">Kombat</span>

Sunset, does the name really translate to "vagina"? I'm not sure if Nintendo is usually that crass in Japan, but this name is a bit taboo here. If you are sure that is the name, then of course it will be documented. If the translation really is "vagina", does it refer to the area in general, or a more specific part? I can imagine the connection with a uterus and ovaries, but that's not really the vagina exactly... &mdash; {EspyoT} 16:43, March 10, 2021 (EST)

::::Okay, I understand. I've figured out how to address this. The idea of saying "pussy" right at the start of the article is a weird one, but "pussy" isn't even the right translation, since "pussy" is マンコ, but the enemy is マンマン. This means a more correct translation would be "pusspuss", which kind of works, but just sounds very weird. Because it's so complicated, I'll just explain everything in the article's "Naming" section. This should make things clear, and avoid a crass name right at the top of the article. The resembleance is uncanny...[edit]

Yeh Shadow Raptor did mention that... Where did he go anyway? I'm ~LonelyRedpikminsprite.jpgTurret~ And I approve this message.

Maybe he got sucked into the couch through a dimensinal portal and into the pikmin universe?--Prof. 02:29, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Japanese name[edit]

Sunset, does the name really translate to "vagina"? I'm not sure if Nintendo is usually that crass in Japan, but this name is a bit taboo here. If you are sure that is the name, then of course it will be documented. If the translation really is "vagina", does it refer to the area in general, or a more specific part? I can imagine the connection with a uterus and ovaries, but that's not really the vagina exactly... — {EspyoT} 16:43, March 10, 2021 (EST)

Ur... sadly(?), yes. It's common for all jellyfloat family members. First, "マンマン" has similar pronunciation with マンコ?, lit.: "Vagina". Moreover, its official Japanese name is ヨミノホトクラゲ?. "ヨミ" means kinds of "Hades", "クラゲ" means "jellyfish", safe for work. However, "ホト" is Japanese old expression of "Vagina", so It is natural to think that. Link is here:(Only Japanese!) https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%BB%E3%81%A8 Anyway, "マンマン" itself is not direct expression of vagina, so if you feel bad with direct expression of vagina, I think using alternate vagina word is better. --PortableSunset (talk) 19:09, March 10, 2021 (EST)
Ok, so if I understand this correctly...
 • マンコ? is modern slang for a woman's genitals (particularly external), so the equivalent of "pussy" in English.
 • マンマン?, the creature's name, is pronounced similarly.
 • ホト?, used in the Japanese name, is an old archaic word for a woman's genitals (particularly external) too.
Is there absolutely 100% no other meaning for マンマン?? Is it really possible for Nintendo of Japan to be referring to such a lewd thing? — {EspyoT} 15:19, March 11, 2021 (EST)
That's light. And I prepared other reasons why Nnintendo of Japan is possible to accept this lewd name.
 • オオイヌノフグリ? (Veronica persica), in real-life Figwort, means "Giant Dog's Testicles". so its possible that Nintendo names its own fantasy creature after human's lewd body parts.
 • Japanese Olimar's journal of Meat Satchel. "なんともそそられる食肉の棒だ。禁欲的な私でさえ、かじったりなめたりしゃぶったりしたくなる。" (This wand of meat is very attractive. Even though I'm austere person, I can't help biting, licking, or sucking it.) "なめる" and especially "しゃぶる" can be used for... male's that.
 • Nintendo have accepted Pokemon's "きんのたま(Nugget)", which implies testicles in Japanese. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nugget#Trivia
