This will probably need further confirmation to see if it is reproducible, but I encountered a strange seed glitch. In Twilight River, I was having Winged Pikmin carry pellets back to the main Onion and was running very low on time. The pink 5 pellet they were carrying was absorbed just as the countdown hit 0. A few of the seeds were spit out during the end of day cutscene, but not all of them. The next morning, during the landing cutscene, it spit out the rest of the seeds directly below the onion and embedded right under the light. I was able to pluck them as normal. | This will probably need further confirmation to see if it is reproducible, but I encountered a strange seed glitch. :::If you can pull it off again, and understand the steps needed to recreate it, then there's no need for another person to verify. It only makes sense for another person to reproduce it if it's some outlandish glitch, specially from a user nobody ever heard of. As long as you can gather easy steps to reproduce, it's fine. People who think the glitch is fake can try it for themselves. If we had more glitches being submitted constantly, we should start worrying about a procedure to weed out the bad ones, but we don't, so... — {EspyoT} 11:07, 4 July 2015 (EDT) | |||
I have once again attempted it on Twilight River, this time with Blue Pikmin and a Blue 10 Pellet. It worked! The sprouts were decidedly not in the usual ring, but a little scattered around under the Onion. Note that despite it being a 10 pellet, I only obtained 7 sprouts, any remaining ones must have been cut off as the day ended. It would appear the glitch is activated on Twilight River by having Pikmin carry an object to the Onion just as the day ends and the countdown hits zero. The Onion should start spitting seeds, which will grow during the end of day cutscene. When you return in the morning, the sprouts will not be in the ground but ejected out a second time and land in all sorts of weird places on the ground. As I have tried four times to get this to work, and only succeeded once, it would appear the timing has to be very precise. To make this easier, you should use something that will produce a large amount of seeds and raise the window of opportunity during which this can happen. | |||
:Neat! So does this only work on the Twilight River? I would strongly bet that that's not the case. — {EspyoT} 05:10, 9 July 2015 (EDT) | |||

==Confused Rock Pikmin== | |||
At the end of the day, a single Rock Pikmin following Charlie decided not to return to the Master Onion, instead deciding to follow Charlie to the Drake. I don't believe he died, and I suspect the cause was Charlie entering a loading zone under the Go Here! command's effects at the exact moment of sunset. I suspect it would work regardless of leader or Pikmin. Phineas81707 (talk) 00:45, 12 October 2015 (EDT) | |||

::I managed to get the glitch to be reproduced. Somehow, however, it got combined with the infamous "Pikmin not teleporting to base at day's end" glitch, so this Winged Pikmin was the only one to make it back in time to be in the picture: I had intended for all five types to rush after Charlie. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYQHAAABAACNUKFKdSdy9A Phineas81707 (talk) 05:30, 12 October 2015 (EDT) | |||

Remember, a flawed contribution is better than no contribution at all. But still, if you want somebody else to add it, I can do it. That said, how exactly do you see the T-pose? :I just checked myself, and that's not a glitch. If a leaf Pikmin drinks nectar, it gets all excited and backflips, because of the huge change in maturity that just happened. If a bud Pikmin drinks nectar, the change isn't as big, so the only thing the Pikmin does is stretch its arms out and shake them, as if saying "ooh, that's good". Red Pikmin and Rock Pikmin do the same animations, and I'd bet all Pikmin types do too. If the Pikmin in the cutscene stood perfectly static and held that pose awkwardly during what would've been the "I'm pumped up!" animation, that would be a glitch. It would mean the game failed to obtain the correct animation and defaulted to using the T-pose. But this isn't the case. — {EspyoT} 10:30, 18 December 2015 (EST) | |||

While playing Mission mode with my mother, I have found the counter glitch on multiple occasions. We first found it on Distant Tundra Remix, and now we can find it anywhere. If I remember correctly, we also saw it on Fortress of Festivity. I see no specific cause of the glitch, however, and all we do is play normally. I have never found it in single-player, though. I know, but I don't even know how I did it. and it would take me awhile to get back there, as my sister restarted the game..... but I know I noticed it when entering the other side of the bridge from the gate that's destroyed by bomb rocks, (by area hint data file)Pikmin Theories (talk) 12:31, 27 February 2017 (EST) | |||
Okay, I'm not sure if this is what happened, but I think maybe Olimar was laying ontop of the Pikmin, If that is what happened, then I guess when I called them to me, the others dropped it on that Pikmin, so it couldn't move, so it became idle, then returned to trying to carry Olimar, but like I said, either way I don't know if that's what exactly happened, If I recall correctly, I think the glitch ended when I got other Pikmin to carry Olimar again like normal. | |||

== Miiverse posts to examine == | |||
I occasionally checked Miiverse and searched for posts containing the words "glitch", "bug", etc. in hopes of finding weird glitches. I managed to come up with quite a lot, but I left them in a queue so that I'd one day examine them and see if they're worth being mentioned, if they can be replicated or explained, if they're even really glitches, and so on. I've posted a lot of the ones I'm more or less sure are standard Miiverse glitches to the main page. But I've got a few here that need to be looked into before being added: either because they can be reproduced, because I can't tell what's going on and need somebody's help, or because somebody needs to check in-game if it's normal or a glitch. — {EspyoT} 15:54, 5 November 2017 (EST) | |||

|effects = Onions will produce fewer Pikmin seeds than intended when retrieving a Pellet carried by Purple or White Pikmin, even if said pellet matches the Onion's colour. | |||
|prerequisites = Play in the Beastly Caverns in Mission Mode and collect Purple or White Pikmin. | |||
|howto = Order some Purple or White Pikmin to carry a pellet to an Onion matching its colour, without other Pikmin types interfering. Once the pellet has been carried to the Onion, new Pikmin seeds will be created, albeit less than normal. | |||
|explanation = Purple or White Pikmin have no Onion. As such, they carry enemies and pellets back to a random Onion, provided no other Pikmin types interfere. Unlike what happens in Pikmin 2, the digits that normally appear above an object that Pikmin are carrying are purple or white here, which could trick the game into thinking that the pellet's colour does not match the Onion's. The video provided with this explanation shows what should normally happen (blue Onion creating 5 Pikmin seeds from a 5-Pellet), then how the glitch occurs. | |||

I have no idea how it happened, but I was playing on Ultra Spicy mode. I defeated the Meerslug but didn't have enough time to get anything to the Drake, but the next day when I was collecting the body, phone and fruit, I didn't notice I hadn't collected all of the watermelon but after wandering around a bit I noticed something on the ledge by the waterfall, the one that leads to where the Metal Suit is found and connects to where Alph crashes. Somehow the big top piece that kinda looks like some weird creature had ended up there catching me off guard. It was weird, especialy since I knew the Pikmin couldn't have put it there since both sides require them to be thrown. All the other pieces had moved back into the arena except that one I'm thinking that it might have been between loading screens when the day ended as the day had ended shortly after a few things made it into the sandy road section.Pikmin Theories (talk) 20:19, January 31, 2021 (EST) | |||

== Louie failure to take juice? == | |||
Seems like the Glitches to Analyze section is more of a personal checklist, and a friend's 3DS just almost got bricked so I am far too anxious to risk stepping on any toes by interjecting, so I'm taking an aside to discuss an alleged game-breaking bug if Louie is rescued and there is no juice left at the end of the day he is rescued from the Scornet Maestro, in which Louie will fail to land the ship the following day, or any day thereafter. I believe I recall witnessing this in modified games, but I'm sure I remember someone mentioning it happens in vanilla as well. It's just so incredibly unlikely for anybody to happen upon by chance. I plan to test it on Deluxe, but can someone whose Wii U still runs check to see if getting Louie back to the Drake with 0 juice left in the original game softlocks the player's file? -- | |||

:I have actually done this in both the Wii U version and the Deluxe version, and the result is not a softlock at all, because the developers knew that this situation is possible to reach and made a clever system to resolve it. At the end of the day that you rescue Louie, the Koppaites will talk about needing to find more fruits because there's no juice left. On the next day, you can choose to land in any of the 4 areas, and there's a special objective to guide you into doing that, "Find Fruit!". Only once you have more than 1 juice remaining at the end of the day will Louie steal the juice and land in the Garden of Hope. — Soprano(talk) 00:33, March 27, 2023 (EDT) | |||

I'm not sure if this would be a glitch or a display error, but I found a video with purple and brown pellet posies (or posys) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMR2prU_v_I (i probably did that wrong) ~Ford4385

- I've been in the process of searching the game files. If I can find official evidence that these colors were intended then we'll know whether or not it's a glitch! :D GreenPikmin (talk) 22:06, 18 February 2015 (EST)

Strange Seed Glitch[edit]
This will probably need further confirmation to see if it is reproducible, but I encountered a strange seed glitch. In Twilight River, I was having Winged Pikmin carry pellets back to the main Onion and was running very low on time. The pink 5 pellet they were carrying was absorbed just as the countdown hit 0. A few of the seeds were spit out during the end of day cutscene, but not all of them. The next morning, during the landing cutscene, it spit out the rest of the seeds directly below the onion and embedded right under the light. I was able to pluck them as normal. I'm Peach Bulborb , and I approve all Grub-Dogs!
- I wish somebody could verify this and add it to the article. — {EspyoT} 06:01, 3 July 2015 (EDT)
- I'm going to try to do it a second time, but we still will need independent verification. I'm Peach Bulborb , and I approve all Grub-Dogs!
- If you can pull it off again, and understand the steps needed to recreate it, then there's no need for another person to verify. — {EspyoT} 11:07, 4 July 2015 (EDT)
- I'm going to try to do it a second time, but we still will need independent verification. I'm Peach Bulborb , and I approve all Grub-Dogs!
I'm Peach Bulborb , and I approve all Grub-Dogs!
- Neat! So does this only work on the Twilight River? I would strongly bet that that's not the case. — {EspyoT} 05:10, 9 July 2015 (EDT)
I will try to test it on other maps at a later date. I'm Peach Bulborb , and I approve all Grub-Dogs!
Confused Rock Pikmin[edit]
At the end of the day, a single Rock Pikmin following Charlie decided not to return to the Master Onion, instead deciding to follow Charlie to the Drake. I don't believe he died, and I suspect the cause was Charlie entering a loading zone under the Go Here! command's effects at the exact moment of sunset. I suspect it would work regardless of leader or Pikmin. Phineas81707 (talk) 00:45, 12 October 2015 (EDT)
- Neat. It'd be nice to reproduce this. I can't imagine it being that hard to do. — {EspyoT} 04:04, 12 October 2015 (EDT)
- I managed to get the glitch to be reproduced. Somehow, however, it got combined with the infamous "Pikmin not teleporting to base at day's end" glitch, so this Winged Pikmin was the only one to make it back in time to be in the picture: I had intended for all five types to rush after Charlie. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYQHAAABAACNUKFKdSdy9A Phineas81707 (talk) 05:30, 12 October 2015 (EDT)
- Nice! Feel free to add the glitch to the article then. Pikipedia:Glitch notes should help. — {EspyoT} 05:50, 12 October 2015 (EDT)

Unknown death[edit]
I had a Fiery Blowhog throw two Red Pikmin into a wall, and they died. I have no idea how it happened, or even what happened... Just for investigation. Phineas81707 (talk) 03:59, 7 November 2015 (EST)
- Hm, in what place in the game? — {EspyoT} 10:00, 7 November 2015 (EST)
- Garden of Hope. The two Blowhogs near the river with the blue bridge that leads to the Armored Mawdad. I believe it was near the five pellet.Phineas81707 (talk) 18:54, 7 November 2015 (EST)
- If you didn't see any death animation, I think it might've been a collision error and the pikmin phased through the wall and died, since any out-of bounds area is technically an abyss. Talk 23:04, 7 November 2015 (EST)

New glitch[edit]
Can someone please add this glitch? To do it, make a Bud Pikmin activate the nectar cutscene, and BOOM Pikmin in a T-Pose! I would, but, I kinda don't wanna. Ninjabunny1234 12:10, 7 December 2015 (EST)
- Don't be afraid to try adding it yourself! You have some instructions here: Pikipedia:Glitch notes. Just try your best, and somebody will come along to clean up any mistakes. Remember, a flawed contribution is better than no contribution at all. But still, if you want somebody else to add it, I can do it. That said, how exactly do you see the T-pose? Does the Pikmin go in a T-pose only for a split-second? Or all throughout the cutscene? — {EspyoT} 10:54, 7 December 2015 (EST)
- You do it. BLEH. Also, normally, the Pikmin jump up and spin. Doing the glitch makes them go in a T-Pose instead. So, yeah. A split-second. Ninjabunny1234 12:10, 7 December 2015 (EST)
Hooray for PROOF! Ninjabunny1234 16:17, 7 December 2015 (EST)
- I just checked myself, and that's not a glitch. — {EspyoT} 10:30, 18 December 2015 (EST)

[edit]
Does anyone else understand the fate of this Yellow Pikmin? It happened shortly after I pulled down the Stellar Extrusion in the Tropical Wilds, and it doesn't respond to any attempts to add itto my party. It happened a while ago, so I don't quite remember for sure, but I think I lost it to sunset. Can anyone give a possible explanation? Phineas81707 (talk) 20:47, 26 December 2015 (EST)
- Every once in a while there are reports of Pikmin that stop responding... Nobody ever found a pattern that I know. — {EspyoT} 08:18, 27 December 2015 (EST)
Counter Glitch[edit]
While playing Mission mode with my mother, I have found the counter glitch on multiple occasions. We first found it on Distant Tundra Remix, and now we can find it anywhere. If I remember correctly, we also saw it on Fortress of Festivity. I see no specific cause of the glitch, however, and all we do is play normally. I have never found it in single-player, though. I'm Pikminfan27, and I approve all glitches. (talk) 10:19, 24 January 2016 (EST)
- It's so weird... This glitch was pretty much unheard of for the longest of time, and now everybody's getting it left and right. — {EspyoT} 10:21, 24 January 2016 (EST)
Today while playing Defeat Bosses: The Plasm Wraith on Pikmin 3 Mission Mode, I noticed a counter glitch. It said I had 10 rock pikmin on standby and the squad number said 0. When I pressed the throw button, nothing happened. Should I add this to the counter glitch that is already on the glitches page? I have a picture of the glitch. another invisible Pikmin glitch![edit]
I was fleeing from the Mysterious Life Form, and I don't know how it happened, but after I whisled, my Pikmin carrying Olimar back, the 1/5 was still there, and upon closer inspection, I could see a leaf, but no Pikmin! Not even whistling made it come too me. Pikmin Theories (talk) 16:51, 26 February 2017 (EST)
I know, but I don't even know how I did it. and it would take me awhile to get back there, as my sister restarted the game..... but I know I noticed it when entering the other side of the bridge from the gate that's destroyed by bomb rocks, (by area hint data file)Pikmin Theories (talk) 12:31, 27 February 2017 (EST)
Early blues in tropical wilds?[edit]
What would happen if you used invincible Pikmin to break down the wall by the calcified crushblat or whatever, and then threw Winged Pikmin the candy pop buds? Ninjabunny1234
- That's a great question. I tried it, but it's super hard. I eventually managed to get an invincible Pikmin by letting it get crushed by a Yellow Wollywog, but I accidentally threw it and couldn't use it to test. Somebody should try it. — {EspyoT} 18:25, 14 July 2017 (EDT)
- They don't spawn before you unlock blues. Drought Ender
Arctic Cannon larva Crushing Glitch?[edit]
Sometimes, when pikmin cling onto an arctic cannon larva and kill it, they sometimes just die. this just happened to me and it killed 9 pikmin. 9! I had to restart the day because i do deathless runs. But, there were no screaming sounds like other pits. they just died. I didnt see any spirits. Ninjabunny1234
Pikmin jumping out of water[edit]
Sometimes, very rarely, Pikmin might jump out of the water before they drown, and then reset their "drown timer". So, yeah. It seems to happen when I jump in the water with 100 Pikmin. Also, the drowning Pikmin must be moving to jump. Ninjabunny1234
- You mean they jump straight up, or jump to shore? And how often does this happen? — {EspyoT} 09:53, 23 July 2017 (EDT)
- They just jump straight up. I already said that it seems to be very rare! I don't know why it happens. Ninjabunny1234
Miiverse posts to examine[edit]
— {EspyoT} 15:54, 5 November 2017 (EST)

Pellet Seed Count Glitch[edit]
I'm not sure if this glitch has been documented anywhere on the wiki (not on this page at least), so just in case I'll post it here and check other pages before moving it to the main article. If someone could help me confirm this glitch is new I'd appreciate it!
Reproducibility | Consequences | Demonstration |
---|---|---|
High | Harmful | Demonstration of the glitch at 0:28. |
- Effects: Onions will produce fewer Pikmin seeds than intended when retrieving a Pellet carried by Purple or White Pikmin, even if said pellet matches the Onion's colour.
- Prerequisites: Play in the Beastly Caverns in Mission Mode and collect Purple or White Pikmin.
- How to: Order some Purple or White Pikmin to carry a pellet to an Onion matching its colour, without other Pikmin types interfering. Once the pellet has been carried to the Onion, new Pikmin seeds will be created, albeit less than normal.
- Notes: None.
- Possible explanation: Purple or White Pikmin have no Onion.

Crimson Banquet relocation.[edit]
All the other pieces had moved back into the arena except that one I'm thinking that it might have been between loading screens when the day ended as the day had ended shortly after a few things made it into the sandy road section.Pikmin Theories (talk) 20:19, January 31, 2021 (EST)
I did take a vid of it when I found it there, I don't have time to post it right now but I will as soon as I can, also got a video of Charlie flailing his arms around a bit as well as Brittany sliding instead of walking don't know if those are are very notable also if the invisible pikmin glitch I mentioned a few topics up happens on this version I'll be sure to get a vid, thank god for the switch's video function.... even if it is just 30 secs. - You should add the video to the "Crimson Banquet glitch" section in the article. And also change the info a bit to indicate that sometimes the pieces can reappear in really weird spots, like the one in that video. The other two glitches are funny, but too insignificant to add, I'd say. — {EspyoT} 13:31, February 4, 2021 (EST)
invincible Pikmin Glitch[edit]

Glitches to analyze[edit]
1. “Guys I found a weird glitch in twilight river Basically you make a winged pikmin drop a pallet on a lily pad Then make a other pikmin carry that pallet The lily pad will disappear when in the pipe but the pikmin will fall in the water uneffected Then it'll try to carry the pallet under water and it'll get stuck in a spot If you try to use the drakes whistle system they'll fall out of bounds and die.” – Kinglet on Pikcord — {EspyoT} 09:53, May 8, 2022 (EDT)
2. “more specifically, normally when the active captain is captured by an enemy (like Swooping Snitchbug, Burrowing Snagret, Quaggled Mireclops) the game prevents you from opening the KopPad's camera. But if you open the camera first, it stays open letting you take cool photos like that (in the case of that image, it's the Burrowing Snagret pushing the captain below the ground)” – Kinglet on Pikcord — {EspyoT} 09:53, May 8, 2022 (EDT)
3. If a leader gets thrown by a Bouncy Mushroom on top of an enemy, it will latch on and start attacking said enemy as if it were a Pikmin. It looks like this can only be seen with hacks, but there must be a way to reproduce this in a vanilla game. — {EspyoT} 10:04, May 8, 2022 (EDT)
4. I once had some Blue Pikmin running around on fire, thanks to some Fiery Blowhogs, and bumped into several of them. One of them ended up invincible. — {EspyoT} 16:09, May 11, 2022 (EDT)
5. Stuff from here and here, particularly sunset cloning, though there are probably other good undocumented glitches inside. — {EspyoT} 06:07, January 13, 2023 (EST)

12. Carefully investigate if Pikmin paralyzed by electricity are affected by explosions. I think it depends on the version of the game. Might be worth documenting in the relevant hazards' articles too. — {EspyoT} 06:07, January 13, 2023 (EST)
Louie failure to take juice?[edit]
-- AmnesiacJournal 23:38, March 26, 2023 (EDT)
- I have actually done this in both the Wii U version and the Deluxe version, and the result is not a softlock at all, because the developers knew that this situation is possible to reach and made a clever system to resolve it. — Soprano(talk) 00:33, March 27, 2023 (EDT)
- FWIW the "Glitches to analyze" isn't a personal checklist. Anybody can and should check them out to document them. — {EspyoT} 15:26, April 5, 2023 (EDT)
Play Story Mode After Completion[edit]
It's possible to play a Story Mode file in Pikmin 3 Deluxe after beating the game by selecting a day other than "END", opening the Voyage Log, scrolling all the way to the left, and clicking "Start". What category does this belong under? WUTAdam (talk) 12:51, July 8, 2023 (EDT)
- It would probably go under the "Main" category. (I'm actually the person who found that glitch and made the video about it, but I never got around to documenting it here. If you want to document it you can, but I still plan on doing it eventually.) — Soprano(talk) 18:17, July 8, 2023 (EDT)
Bomb Rock Duplication[edit]
Yes, there is in fact a glitch that allows you to duplicate Bomb Rocks, but I don't really see it in the page.
Here's how the glitch works btw: [1]
(also, if you're wondering, yes, it's still possible, since I myself have performed the glitch recently) RedPikmin95 (talk) 18:32, November 20, 2024 (EST)
