The Breadbug family is the species of enemies in the Pikmin games that steal items and corpses. The most famous member of the species is the Dwarf Red Bulborb. The name may be derived from the fact that they resemble bread.
Breadbug
Breadbugs are one of the enemies the Pikmin games. It is in the Breadbug family, which was named after it. It does no harm to the Pikmin directly, though it can pull away small objects (in Pikmin), or both small and rather large (in Pikmin 2) objects vital to the Pikmin into its dwelling. If Pikmin are trying to pull something when the Breadbug pulls them in, they will die. It has a large and hard amount of blubber, making it nearly immune to most attacks.
Giant Breadbug
The Giant Breadbug is a boss in Pikmin 2. Unlike other Breadbugs, this one is large and shaped more almost perfectly cubical, looking like a whole loaf of bread, making it the largest species in the Breadbug family. It acts the same as normal Breadbugs, but is harder to damage by "rejection" from the Onion. It is considered by many players to be the easiest boss in the game (boss theme music is not even played, though an exclusive tune is played only in the specific cave sublevel). The more recognizble habitat is located on the last sublevel (6) of the Glutton's Kitchen and consists of only two other Breadbugs, electric nodes, and Anode Beetles.
Dwarf Red Bulborb
Dwarf Red Bulborbs are very small, and common enemies in the Pikmin games. These enemies perfectly resemble Red Bulborbs in appearance, but are much smaller. These enemies are easily defeatable by swarming them, but throwing a Pikmin directly on top of it will kill it, if you throw a Purple Pikmin on it, the Pikmin will remain attached to it while the creature falls. In Pikmin, these were known to be a seperate species from Red Bulborbs, but in Pikmin 2, they were revealed to be in the Breadbug family, not the Grub-dog family. Olimar's notes in the Piklopedia confuse matters by saying he originally identified them as juvenile Spotty Bulborbs, which contradicts what the enemy reel at the end of the first game says, he must therefore have realised sometime before leaving the planet for the first time the species were unrelated. In the first game, agitating one will make it release a cry, which will wake up the nearest Red Bulborb. This doesn't happen in Pikmin 2.
Dwarf Orange Bulborb
The Dwarf Orange Bulborb is an enemy in Pikmin 2. It mimics the Orange Bulborb, but because Dwarf Bulborbs don't sleep like real Bulborbs, it simply notices Pikmin at a greater distance than normal. It can still be easily defeated by the swarming or using the simple methods of defeating Dwarf Bulborbs. Just like the red breadbug they aren't juvenile Bulborbs but mimics, which makes them in no way shape or form related to the grub-dog family.
Snow Bulborb
The Snow Bulborb is an enemy in Pikmin 2. They are another kind of Dwarf Bulborb, in which these particular ones resembling miniature Hairy Bulborbs without any plumage. They are as similar as any other Dwarf Bulborb, and are as lethal as every one. They are usually found near other Hairy Bulborbs, or in cave terrain covered by snow or ice.
