The Zirconium Rotor is a rocket part found in the first Pikmin game. It is located near the [[Gluon Drive]], in the stump that is blocked off by the stump where you found the Gluon Drive. Getting it requires you to defeat some [[Yellow Wollywog]]s and any other enemies that may be a nuisance. Tear down the white [[gate]] and the rocket part is yours. Make sure the route your [[Blue Pikmin]] take is enemy free. The part is made of rust-proof Zirconium and was in good condition when Olimar found it. It was expensive for [[Olimar]] to get it installed. Olimar suspects that the salesman who sold it to him raised the price of the part and cheated him of some money.

The Zirconium Rotor (ジルコニウムローター?, lit.: "Zirconium Rotor") is a ship part found in Pikmin. The part is made of rust-proof Zirconium and was in good condition when Olimar found it, despite being exposed to the planet's elements. The Optical Illustration/Abstract Masterpiece in Pikmin 2 is located in the same place where the Zirconium Rotor is found. Once retrieved, this ship part does not change the S.S. Dolphin's appearance.

Collecting the part[edit]

The following article or section contains guides.
The strategies shown are just suggestions.

It is located near the Gluon Drive. Get 6 Yellow Pikmin and get some bomb-rocks. Destroy the reinforced wall blocking the path and kill the two Yellow Wollywogs near the white bramble gate and have about 30 Blue Pikmin knock it down. Once finished, have them carry the part back. Note that you don't necessarily have to kill the Yellow Wollywogs, but can guide them out of the way.

If the reinforced wall is not broken down, the Pikmin may also carry it behind the complex of tree stumps and enter the landing site through the backside. However, the other way is quicker.

By throwing Pikmin from the Gluon Drive's room over to the Zirconium Rotor's room, and by abusing the way Pikmin move in a circle when they can't find a path to carry something, the ship part can be picked up and released with the right timing to inch it over to its room's southern wall. Once it's near the wall, the day can be finished, and on the next day, the ship part will appear out in the open.[1]

Notes

Olimar's monologs

It's my Zirconium Rotor!

This is made from rust-proof zirconium, which is particularly suited to making spaceship parts. I had to pay a lot extra to have this installed, and I suspect the mechanic overcharged me.

Made of rust-proof zirconium, it is as shiny as new, despite being left out in this planet's harsh elements.

Naming[edit]

In real life, zirconium is a gray transition metal with a subtle tint of yellow or brown. It is also highly resistant to corrosion, just like it was described in-game.

Trivia[edit]

  • This ship part's surface is comprized of multiple colors, contrary to the gray of pure zirconium. Due to this, it is probable the metal was anodized, likely for wear resistance, which may be necessary as the part appears to be shaped like a gear. However, this may also make it more vulnerable to damage from thermal stress, so the gear is likely used in a location where it will not become overly hot within the S.S. Dolphin.
