You may notice that in the alcoves of caves, and on specific places on land, there are white orbular objects. These are the eggs of some insect - an unknown one, however. They usually contain nectar, but may also contain [[spray|sprays]] or [[Mitite|Mitites]], the latter of which are only found in eggs. It seems that the eggs seen being held by [[Honeywisp]]s may actually be connected to these ones, due to their appearance. To destroy an egg, simply attack it with your Pikmin or punch it a few times with your Captain. Eggs pose absolutely no harm to either one. It is advisable to throw a Purple [[Pikmin]] onto an egg, as this will immediately break it and contained [[Mitite]]s will be instantly defeated.

It is unknown if they come from any kind of creature or plant and it may be possible that they are merely egg-shaped containers. They can be attacked, and when broken, they release nectar, although they can also release other things including living creatures. The eggs held by [[Honeywisp]]s in ''Pikmin 2'' function identically to grounded eggs. In {{p4}}, large versions of nectar eggs can be found. These 'large nectar eggs' release multiple drops of nectar when broken.
 
To destroy an egg, it must be attacked with [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]], [[punch]]ed at a few times with a [[leader]], or destroyed by an enemy projectile, like a [[Gatling Groink]]'s fireworks.
 
For ''Pikmin 2'', it is advisable to [[throw]] a [[Purple Pikmin]] onto an egg, as this will immediately break it and contained [[Mitite]]s will be instantly defeated. In ''[[Pikmin 3]]'', certain eggs are programmed to always drop certain objects. For example, some of the eggs in the hollowed-out tree in the [[Tropical Wilds]] where the [[Juicy Gaggle]] is found are pre-programmed to always drop [[bomb rock]]s &ndash; the only known ones to do so. Other than that, some eggs in [[Mission Mode]] always drop [[ultra-spicy spray]]. Most eggs in Story mode can drop either nectar or ultra-spicy spray. If ultra-spicy spray has not been discovered, they will only drop nectar, as ultra-bitter spray and Mitites are not present in this game.

Their location in [[area]]s is always constant, and they always respawn whenever the area is entered. Underground, there are several sublevels with eggs, some having more than one. ==Trivia==
* When a Honeywisp is frozen from an [[Ice Blast]], the nectar egg it holds will also freeze. This is the only way to see a frozen nectar egg, as attempting to freeze one on its own simply breaks it open.
** A similar case can also happen with a [[Skutterchuck]], with the [[crystal nodule]] it carries also freezing.
