Challenge Mode in Pikmin 3 is one the two playable game sections shown at E3 2012, presumably also in the final game. It is currently unknown if it will be playable at the start of the game, or must be unlocked like in the past 2 games.

The | ==Goal== | ||
The goal in Pikmin 3's Challenge Mode is to use the provided Pikmin to collect as much fruit and enemy carcasses as possible on the map within a predefined amount of time. When fruit are hauled back to the Pod, their value will be converted to Pokos, and the player's scores will be based on how much total pokos were earned. When enemies are defeated, additional pokos will be added to the score and more fruit will drop onto the stage. Pikmin are found either buried, scattered across the map in little groups, or inside enemies.
Only the Pikmin provided can be used for each level; it is impossible to make more Pikmin. However, it is possible to convert Pikmin into other types using enemies such as the Medusal Slurker.
When a level is complete, the player can watch a top-down playback of the entire level session, showing icons to indicate the captains, fruits, enemies, and Pikmin.
Another new feature shows during challenge mode is your ranking. Depending on how many pokos you obtain, your ranking will improve. You can either get bronze, silver, gold, or platinum.
