"I'd delete the best articles, one every three weeks, label it as spam/irrelevant content in the deletion summary, "Welcome" new users with a link to the new site, and mix in (some) regular spam deletion, just to prevent the wiki from being adopted."

-Axiomist

He was giving tips on how to ensure the move for another wiki was complete. Should we do this for the Pikmin Wikia? Or should we just let it go to become a separate wiki? Vol (Talk)

Sounds very...underhanded. Almost malicious too. —Jimbo Jambo 09:56, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

Sounds kinda fun.--Prezintenden
Mm, while it wouldn't hurt anyone since there doesn't seem to be anyone actually intending to take over, it is a bit wrong. It's going to fall into disrepair by itself anyway. GP
Well, currently, it's starting to fall apart (albeit lightly). Despite being countered several times, some editors still think that Chuggaaconroy's Pikmin deserve an article. I suggest waiting for it to rot, and if nothing happens for a while, we can give it a little "push". {EspyoT} 15:14, 26 October 2010 (EDT)
In favor of trashing theold place! Crystal lucario
I would agree with Greenpickle, but seeing as the wiki is trashing itself, and it has the same name as this wiki, it might lead people to believe that there is no clean, active Pikmin wiki, and lots of users seem to be finding that one first and assuming that this is the same site or just not finding this site. Plus the wikis are the same thing, this one is just improved and that one is just more vandalized. Vol (Talk)

I'm really not especially worried about competition, considering what I'm seeing there now, but I won't accept that there's no way to direct people to this wiki without tripping Wikia's alarms or resorting to corsairing. We used to have a News section on the front page until we deleted for rarely actually having anything to report, but perhaps we could write a news blurb, totally impartial and from no particular point of view, stating simply that much of the old community has moved. It probably won't get that much attention, but returning users looking for answers as to where everyone went might look there. —Jimbo Jambo 21:23, 26 October 2010 (EDT)

Yes, we should limit to giving small, subtle hints about the move. Something that Wikia won't catch on easily and freak out about, but something that can help users find the correct wiki. {EspyoT} 14:36, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

Google bomb[edit]

I have an unorthodox suggestion. I'm thinking about the possibility of Google bombing the new Pikipedia, and leave the old Wikia one behind. But I wouldn't possibly do it without asking for opinions first. To those that aren't quite sure what Google bombing is... basically, the pages that are most commonly called/accessed will be shown on top in Google's search results. If we Google bomb the new Pikipedia (which will basically access it several times, or something), it'll show up in first place rather than the old one. {EspyoT} 14:36, 27 October 2010 (EDT)

Good idea, though it might be hard, because the old wikia one was also Google bombed. Vol (Talk)
Ok th- wait, what? Why? To gain popularity in the first place? Or are all Wikia wikis Google bombed (for publicity) or something? {EspyoT} 19:02, 27 October 2010 (EDT)
Well, uh, the idea is that Google lowers search rank for a term for sites that are linked to with links using that term, specifically for larger sites. This has already been done by having every other NIWA wiki linking to us on their main pages. It's just occurred to me, though, that we should go around and change all links to the old wiki (at other wikis, including Wikipedia) to point here. GP
Hmm, apparently Porplemontage did it at Wikipedia a few weeks ago... Any ideas on how to easily find other such links? GP
We could Google Pikipedia. The high-ranking sites with the word Pikipedia in them would show up on top, then we could change the links. Vol (Talk)
...I'm not sure bumping 3-year-old topics at random Nintendo forums will do much. Those results won't really get you very far because of the way ranking is done: the sites linked to with that keyword are the ones with the higher ranking for it, not the other way around. GP
We could rename this entire wiki so that it will show up easily, which would be hard, tiring, and... yeah. opulda57102.png 09:40, 12 June 2015 (EDT)

Hello,

Thanks for contacting Wikia. We don't usually delete wikis once they have been created. Wikis are community-owned projects, and a wiki you are no longer interested in can wait for someone else to come along and adopt it.

I got owned.--Prezintenden

I'm saying nothing.
But I'm laughing inside. GP
I chuckled, honestly. --FREAK ~GameGame Freak Logo.png Freak~OUT!

Can't we add a huge sign on the Main Page that the wiki was abandoned? opulda57102.png 04:41, 1 June 2015 (EDT)

We tried that already. The wikia staff just removed it again. — {EspyoT} 09:33, 1 June 2015 (EDT)
Maybe we could vandalise pages, and then lock them! opulda57102.png 21:50, 5 June 2015 (EDT)
They can, and did, revert that. They're staff, they can unlock the pages easily. — {EspyoT} 10:04, 6 June 2015 (EDT)

IDEA! Maybe we can create a template on the Pikmin wiki and put on pages, saying that we also have an article for that here! opulda57102.png (talk) 06:40, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

We tried that already, and they reverted that too. — {EspyoT} 11:21, 17 June 2015 (EDT)
